    This was the most helpful video I’ve seen so far. I made the mistake of transitioning all of my plants to Pon at once in the past couple of months and have been having to go through all of them and get off the rot. I thought this was not normal, but it seems that it is! Thanks so much for your help.

    I'm sorry to disproveyour opinion because all my plants in leca have been doing really great for two years now. I never, not once have taken them out to sort out to check the roots. I just poir water on them when the water goes below mid level, and it's been doing fine. No hassle on my part. I have leca and pumice agregates used separately or mixed and I just did it once and never again took them out and they are literally thriving. Very healthy in fact. I love watching the roots channeling around the glass container. I just put the plant on a vase, put leca or pumice or both, put water, then that's it! No hassle. No changing of water, just pouring more if needed.

    Most of my plants in leca are in glass jars, so not in self-watering pots. Once converted, I never take them out of their pots to remove the rot so as not to stress them further, and I see that they are doing fine as they continue to grow well...also, the slow release fertilizer for hydro lasts up to 6 months, so what I do is take them out of their pots and give them a clean up every 6 months, and then put the new fertilizer back in. Am I simply lucky if they continue to thrive?😅😅

    Interesting. I moved my alocasias to leca, and after several months I pulled them out, I wanted to add slow release fertilizers and move them to fancy jars, and I was surprised by amount of dead roots I pulled off - I thought I probably smooshed them with leca, or pulled them out when I was shifting it, but now apparently, that's normal, so, thanks

    • @MarbleQueen
      @MarbleQueen  2 роки тому +3

      Hi! I actually suggest using pon for those, as you would have to water the leca way too often if you choose that substrate. I don’t like using a reservoir for succulents because they end up rotting after quite some time.

    • @MarbleQueen
      @MarbleQueen  3 роки тому +3

      Hello! No actually for pon I never uproot the plants, which is why it’s my preferred substrate now 😂 Although I do use pon like soil, meaning I water when it’s dry, instead of using a reservoir like you would with leca! If you want to use a reservoir with pon I imagine you’d have to uproot it to clean the roots and check them often 😊

    Hi! Great video, thank you so much! I just wanted to ask a few details. If my plant has tender roots, do I need to also dry them after washing? I have syngonium transferred to leca and I never waited for it to dry. A month later I found it had some root rot. Was it because I didn't dry the roots? How long should the roots be dried? TIA

    🙋Bonjour ! J'aimerais savoir s'il vous plaît, à quelle fréquence peut-on arroser les plantes transférées en leca(le ficus elastica 35 cm,et deux petites Crassula Ovata, de 14cm)? Les plantes doivent avoir de l'eau temps au fond des globelets ? Mes globelets ont un trou à 3 cm du fond.A quel intervalle peux-je leur donner de l'engrais ? Merci beaucoup de pouvoir répondre ! 🤗🙋🌹

    • @MarbleQueen
      @MarbleQueen  2 роки тому +2

      Bonjour! Sorry, I don't speak French but from what I gleaned from Google translate, I will try my best to answer!
      When you first transition your ficus and crassula to LECA, try to water them only when the LECA feels dry (which will be often). After a month, check if the old roots have shed and new ones are starting to form, that's how you know you can add a reservoir (water in the bottom of the pot) already. As for fertilizing, I add nutrients to my water every other watering.
      Hope this makes sense and thank you for watching! 🥰

      Not meaning to butt in on another channel, and I dont mean any disrespect. Just saw you had a question 5hat I could answer. If you boil the leca for 10 minutes, the pores will open up and saturate it. Then store in water if not in use, because the leca will stay saturated and sink to the bottom. You can do it without boiling the leca, leaving it in a bucket for as long as it takes the leca to absorb the water, eventually it will sink, but boiling it makes it happen faster. Hope this helps 👍🏼

    I have not tried LECA yet.. when you do use them, do you need to have reservoir like in a separate container, or you can fill the planter with water 1/3rd of the way in which you have the plant? Not sure if that makes sense ...

      Hello! Yes, I've had fittonias in LECA before. The only problem is that they're still super thirsty, so despite being in LECA, you need to keep a close eye on the reservoir and make sure it doesn't run out! They grow fine as long as you can keep up with the watering though!
