I’ve always heard the L1011 was a highly advanced aircraft for the time but it was extremely expensive and an airline could buy DC-10’s for way cheaper. That and the development costs didn’t make it an airline favorite but it surly was a pilot 👩✈️ favorite!!
the L-1011 had the first for many systems that no other airliner of its day had. it was the First CAT-IIIc Autoland FAA Certified aircraft A quad redundant hydraulic system that saved the aircraft in a notable incident that would have costed a DC-10 a catastrophic and total loss incident.
I had the opportunity to fly in the lt 10 steelbird; eastern airlines and tea. Both joys were marvelous. I miss that powerful steelbird, when I travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, my 2nd home. Birthplace of my beloved parents.
what day was this? I was in England in May of '96 just before the Olympics in Atlanta. i may have actually been on this aircraft depending on the Day of the video.
@@alistair-01 hoping id get a reply, i went back and found a few photos, and did a records check with my family, we were on 751DA, but a week later, Monday June 3rd. Thanks for the reply though :)
A Delta Tri Star - Airliners don't come much prettier IMO.... Beautiful
I decided that the image stabilisation thing - annoying as it is - was less annoying than the wobbles and shakes from my crappy filming.

I think that's definitely true. The late arrival of the plane due to problems at Rolls-Royce didn't help, either.

It was Monday May 27 1996 and I am reliably informed that the TriStar registration was N751DA (scrapped at Mojave 10/99)
