As I comment, it is February 16th 2019! And to the best of my knowledge that this performance on March 22nd 2013 is the one and only time that Jackie has performed Bridge Over Troubled Water in concert. A few things to point out about this performance. First, Jackie had been ill for a couple of days before hand. 2nd, her rehearsal of it was very limited. Think of the thousands of times Simon and Garfunkel sang it. And for Jackie's version to be favorably compared to their's is quite a compliment! In my humble opinion it is the best ever cover by anyone! And Jackie's voice today is as beautiful as ever! I have said it before and will until I die, I have never heard a more beautiful voice in my 65+ years. And I have heard a lot of beautiful voices. May God continue to Bless Jackie Evancho!
I agree with you. At her age it's beyond anything I've heard in the entertainment industry.
I want to hear Jackie's version over and over again.
There are 5 rounds of applause for Jackie's performance in this number. The first is as the thunderstorm ends, the second is as the audience realize what song it is, the third is after she concludes her performance, the fourth is after Benedict bows to her, and the fifth is as she and Benedict leave the O theater. I don't see any problem with the performance or conclusion..
Perhaps the greatest performance by any female vocalist at any venue, ever. Angelic voice, breathtakingly beautiful. I am in awe.

I have been following Jackie's career for about 1 1/2 yrs. This is the first time that I have seen this production. Wow!
Well, you are surely entitled to your personal opinion, PT, and I respect that. If I were able to allow you to hear this performance on the audio system that we use here in our studio, I feel certain that you would come to a different conclusion. A quick outline: custom modified sound card, Krell Phantom pre-amp, and MBL 9011 power amps driving a pair of Wilson Audio Alexandria speakers. This performance had 8 grown men crying tears of joy and amazement. It was pure artistic perfection.

Prometheus T ....I think Jackie's good friend David Foster, if he watched this, would not want one change to this song. She freakin' nailed it. This kid goes out and gives a live performance that any singer in the world would be proud to give. Mr Foster would probably just smile one of those smiles Jackie so often gave him when she was working with him knowing full well that 90% of the people in the music industry today couldn't have delivered what Jackie did on that stage that night.
Some jackass spent a lot of time thumbs downing my comment. That's pretty damned pathetic. I guess the "experts" who own "the music world" don't like us commoners saying who is world class and whose tired careers are being eclipsed.
Right from the start Jackie's career threatened the "experts" who moaned that her voice wouldn't last, she didn't know what she was doing, etc. Jackie is a phenomenon bigger than all the tired old hacks of the music world and she's reached a huge, NEW audience.
I heard someone say that was there for this performance by Jackie that you could have heard a pin drop while she was singing. Not a sound other than Jackie's extraordinary voice filling the theater and all in attendance with her transformative magic. When, in the song, Jackie sang the line that said, "your time has come to shine," the inflection reminded me of the little girl of a few years back. Jackie is now growing into a beautiful young woman with her shine getting brighter and brighter.
Jackie has made this song her own the right way, not by distorting it from the simple beautiful ballad that it is, with a bunch of vocal embellishments and show biz tricks, but by singing it simply and beautifully, with a huge clear voice, and a profound depth of feeling, that nobody in the world can match today.
It has been announced recently that on April 20th Jackie has been invited to perform with the great Jose Carreras, one of the famous Three Tenors, at a special event in Taiwan. It amazes me that Jackie is constantly being chosen from other young sopranos to perform with world class artists. That truly speaks volumes about her talent and how she is accepted by the professionals in the music world. Yes indeed, the world is her stage!
Cirque du Soleil did such a good job with Jackie and Grace Vanderwaal they don't get enough credit for what they create. They are so respected now even McCartney and Ringo allowed them to use their music
June 2020. Still the best one time cover of BOTW! It can be done beautifully by others but no one can do better! This performance will stand the test of time as well as the song has! I have mixed emotions about Jackie ever singing this again. I would love to hear Jackie sing it as an adult but I don't want to diminish the greatness of this performance!

Your opinion is reasonable, but I loved the production. Jackies performances have always had an otherworldly dream like quality, and this production fits that perfectly. Jackie enters her own fantastic dream world when she sings, and takes us there with her. Then when she is done, she returns as a normal sweet little girl, and we return back to earth, with tears in our eyes.
Disagree that Foster is needed for this. He is not NEEDED by Jackie for anything. I would love to see them do another album together but Jackie will do just find without him, as she did her. Art Garfunkel it is not. Jackie Evancho it is. Different, more poignant, more lyrical, just lovely.
Such a soothing voice for a very soothing lyric and score! Have you ever sipped on a warm honey and lemon mixture to sooth a sore throat? Listening to Jackie sing a song, and epic no less, this song......is like a warm honey and lemon comforting remedy, sipped slowly but enjoyed long after the music stops. One of the most soothing voices of the new millennium! I like to think of Jackie Evancho as our "Millennium Girl" seeing as she was born only a few months into 2000.......
A phrase of mine is close to yours; JEM's got a "Honey-butter" quality to her voice. She looks really nice in her Up-hair.

A large part of Jackie's musical genius is her unique ability to find the interpretation of the song she is singing that will add the most to the song for the enjoyment of the listener. That is why the more you listen to Jackie sing the more spoiled you will become.
I completely disagree with you that the key s too high. One of the best things about jackie is her incredibly beautiful high notes, and thus she often sings in a higher key than most singers, why shouldn't she show off her best skills. It especially fits in this otherworldy setting. You might do better to wonder why the other singers didn't also choose a higher key, the answer being they could never duplicate jackies high notes.
This is Jackie's 'interpretation' of Bridge Over Troubled Waters and I suspect the finished product is as she intended; nothing less. And I love it just as it is. It's beautiful, Jackie! You should do what sounds right to you.
Jackie Evancho is the biggest world class talent you will not hear on the radio, or find news paper articles or reviews of, and TV news will not mention even international events she performs in. And why is that you wonder. It is because grace, charm, humility, charity, piety, and all the other old fashion moral values Jackie exhibits in all she does is not what the Mass Media is marketing today. Trashy sexuality, limitless self indulgence, pretentiousness, that's what Main Stream Media sells.
Foster was a big help to jackie. She did some of her best work under him, and I think her skill made a big leap under his tutaledge. But I think she is great enough now to transend any producer, and can work under any capable one, as proven by her great performance here, her performance of ND in BGT, and her great performances in songs of the silver screen, which also did not involve foster. On the other hand, I would still love to see them work together again, since they were a great combo.
This was the child the opera snobs were telling us was using poor technique that would ruin her voice, faking an unnatural artificial adult sound she did not really have, only in it because her parents wanted money, and as she grew up would fade away because she would no longer be a novelty. Now 3 yrs later she is better than ever, absolutely magnificent. She is no longer a promissing youngster to give a break to in a bigger show, she is now the proven headliner that will MAKE the show.
Jackie can, and does bring the big moments to a song, When It Is Required For The Song, and for the song Only. She does not do it to show off her vocal talents, like too many other singers. She is all about the song, she becomes the song and pulls the listener into the song like no other before her.
Jackie does NOT need David Foster to succeed. Even he said that during the recording of DWM.
This is beautiful. Yes, it is different. Just because you have heard it one way over and over does not mean another rendition does not do the song justice.
Don't be silly: Jackie Evancho is HERSELF a "world class artist"! It would amaze ME if she weren't besieged with offers to perform with all those whom she is busily eclipsing.

Cant stop watching this. Its like I was taken to an ancient greek epic, to the rhelm of Neptune, and being serinaded by his daughter. All of Jackies performances have this otherworldly spiritual quality. She goes to another place when she sings, and she takes us all along with her. I have never heard another singer that could take me away from myself like jackie can. Then once it is over, she turns right back into a sweet child and returns us all back to earth.
as always, thanks hw so much for your observations, recommendations, and insights. according to wiki, you and your colleagues experienced increased lacrimation most likely due to exposure to beauty, glory, wonderfulness. i like to think of them as 'jackie drops', a common reaction among jme listeners, happens to me all the time. recently showed a jackie yt video to a family who was not acquainted with jme, i'm pretty sure i saw moist eyes within 20 seconds.
Not me, I have said similar things. But I have noticed that classical performers, producers, and musicians with real talent have actually been very kind to jackie, and often want to work with her. The "experts" you are talking about are frustrated critics, instructors,and people who have studied for years but never made it performing, because they have credentials but no real talent.
We always knew that, but the heartening part of hollywells comment is that numerous other legends in the music world now also realize it.

Look at Jackies resume!!! Look who she has worked with -- pretty darn impressive. Thank goodness her "people" seem to understand that her talent is unique and should not be exposed and over promoted/pushed for the corp. bosses. I think evev the big corp. bosses know Jackie is indeed unique.
You have your opinion, I have mine. This is not necessarily better than Pie Yesu, but it is every bit as good, one of Jackies best. I think you are narowing Jackie when you say she cant do good work unless David Foster is producing her. Yes she did some of her best work with him, but she has done well with others too, including AGT, BGT, her very first EP, and here.

Outstanding and beautiful!!!!!! First time I heard and saw her perform it was unforgettable. august 10,l 2010 AGT. Little 10 year old blonde girl in the red dress. She brought the audience to their feet and stunned millions with her incredible beautiful voice. Have seen her perform live 5 times now....all in the Oregon/Washington areas. She is terrific.
... As time passes, I don't believe that even Miss Evancho herself will be able to improve upon this performance ...
I hope that really comes off, and is not just a rumor, or a proposal by somebody. I notice jackie has not announced it on her site yet. Perhaps they are still negociating the details and exact time.

At the time of this show, Jackie was 12 years old. Just 3 weeks before her 13th birthday.
As of today, March 7th, Jackie is 18. Her birthday is April 9th.
Its not that she needs David Foster, it is that they go so well together and brings an atmosphere conducive to quality musically performance that the audience enjoys. He adds a fun wholesome element that complements Jackie, so yes, they are a good team considering Jackie's personality, temperment and ability.

The difficulty with the ending is that after Jackie's last high note the music abruptly stops to allow the mime to stop playing and go bow to Jackie- the original version ended with a big musical flourish-this weakens the ending- musical directors decision
Didn't think of that, but you have a point. It would have also allowed jackie to get more applause before the old one walked over to bow to her. Overall I loved this production, but you might have a point on the ending.
