Language Challenge Bengali Vs Persian

  • Today we try the language challenge Bangali (Bangla) and Persian (Farsi) Part 2! We came across some similarities between the two languages. This maybe due to the fact that both Bengali and Persian are classified as Indo-European languages. Persian is mainly spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan while Bengali is primarily spoken in Bangladesh and some parts of India.

      Amir jaan! Thanx for your entertaining videos. I just wanted to inform you about a little mistake which you have made now in two different videos. You say that "Leevan" means cup which is almost true but not totally. It actually means glas. Meanwhile "Fenjaan/Fenjoon" means cup.
      I would also appreciate it if you wrote the equivalent word in the other language on the screen as well.
      For instance when you write on the screen "komola" and the meaning of it in English you could write "portaghaal" under it at the same time and vice versa.
      Ghorbunet.
      Sarboland va piruz baashi khoshtip!
      /Kiarash

    "Parande" also synonymous with bengali word "parinda" means bird.....these all reveal that bengali and persian are very similar.....

      Soumalya Kundu you are confusing hindi with Bengali, "shada" means white," pakhi" means bird. parinda and safed are hindi words

    • @aaax332

      Pushyamitra Shunga parinda and safed aren't hindi words, they're urdu words which directly came from persian.

    • @OOOOOOO00
      @OOOOOOO00 2 роки тому

      В восточно -персидских диалектах - таджикский и фарси-кабули эти слова звучать как "safed", "paranda". Если иранец произносил их как в Афганистане, Узбекистане и Таджикистане, то люди с Индийского субконтинента бистро поняли бы, так как в Индии имел влияние именно восточные диалекты персидского языка. Удачи!

    Many Indic languages in areas with significant mulim populations tend have a bunch of persian (as well as arabic/turkic) derived loanwords.
    The alternative/older vocab (more used by non-muslim population of the same linguistic culture) will be very different, but will funnily have a lot more similarities with old persian.

    1. Beng. Dorjo = Russian Dverca ("small door")
    2. Pers. Leevan - Rus. naLIVANiye means "pouring", naLIVANiye chaia v chashku = "pouring of tea into the cup"
    3. Pers. Parande = Rus. Pernataia ("bird"): you see it's the same only different vowels are missing: paran_ta per_nata
    also, Sanskrit has Pataaka for "bird" = Ukrainian Ptakh "bird"
    4. Juta - it seems to be reduced version of Ukrainian Choboty "boots",
    also Rus. Sapogi / SAPOZHki "boots"= Pers. Kaf(u)sh "shoes"
    5. Kan - we don't have but
    Ukrainian Vukho / VUSHko = Pers. Gush "ear"
    6. Pers. Keleed = Rus. Kliuch or Kluch (with soft L) "key"
    7. Beng. Kolom = Rus, Karandash "pencil", you see it's like Karam Dash (2 words)
    8. Pers. Sefeed = Rus. Svetl_ or Svetlyi "light (color), fair"

    • @rdtgr8
      @rdtgr8 6 років тому +1

      Also Pers. Ham-Sayeh looks similar to Rus. So-Sied "neighbour", but it's a bit complicated

    I have an idea:
    livan = Persian "cup" (Russian na-livaniye "pouring")
    liven' = Russian "rain shower"
    in contrary:
    vRshti = Sanskrit "rain shower"
    barish = Urdu "rain"
    borshch (or borscht) = "Ukrainian beetroot soup"
    If we suppose that Slavic (or maybe Scythian/Sarmatian) and Indo-Iranian stems for "cup" and "rain shower" are vice versa we would have:
    Borscht = "something which is being poured into cups" (i.e. "liquid food")
    WOW

    • @rdtgr8
      @rdtgr8 6 років тому

      Yes, i've realized Bengali words are often in closer shape to Russian ones than Hindi/Urdu. Thank you

    • @OOOOOOO00
      @OOOOOOO00 2 роки тому

      Нет, уважаемый. "Бариш"- это персидское слова ("бар"- идёт осадки+ суфф. "иш", от слова "баридан"). Это слова буквально означает идёт/ капает осадки(дождь, снег, град). А дождь отдельно значит "баран", град- "жала", снег - "барф". Можно предположить, что "барф" (снег) изначально значил как белый, а сафед/сфед (белый)- снег. Как в другие индоевропейские языки, в том числе русский. Удачи!

    • @rdtgr8
      @rdtgr8 2 роки тому

      @@OOOOOOO00 Всё так, но приведенное санскритское слово однокоренное с боридан и бореш. Так что гипотеза про бор(ь)шч умелый, беть >> белый. Где бети = санскрит. bhaati. На хинди современном Su pra-bhaatam = Доброго про-бела/про-света/рас-света!
