    Wait wait wait I have audio. Sorry for the trouble Luke. Loue your videos. I am from India, south India as a matter of fact and I assure you we don't have any mushrooms in my megalopolis of ten million people. I love nature and unfortunately I can't find any nature around. So my go to pave is you. Thank you.

    Another very relaxing video! Do you have public lands in Bohemia? Is a permit required for personal harvest?

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  Рік тому +1

      I'm glad you find the video relaxing. The lands / forests here are often free to enter despite the possibility of being owned by someone. Of course some people build fences around their private ground but most of such areas are accessible. I think there is some limit like several kilograms per person per day, but I usually don't have such amounts so I was never paying much attention to that. Also I've never seen anyone to check that. So in general, ownership is usually not a problem.

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  Рік тому

      It was between 0°C and 10°C approximately, sometimes at night possibly below the freezing point, during a sunny day it could also be more. Now the weather got colder, but I hope they will continue to grow despite night freezing temps.

    Awesome Luke, we get Verpa bohemica here as well but they aren't as common overall. Rarely do they grow in the forest fires but sometimes we see them in the green patches of forest between burnt areas. Love seeing the forest environments where you're harvesting.

      Thanks for the comment. Here these mushroom is very popular and at some places it can grow in masses, but in general it is difficult to find such places. You will not find them in ordinary forrests. More likely they grow in ugly places with difficult access. So far I picked them only on one of my spots. Hopefully the other spots will start producing soon too.

    I do not claim to be a morel expert. From what I see in the video, these are what we would call "half free" morels. I am in U.S.A Michigan. In the half free, the stem goes up into the hood of the mushroom where the true morels the stem attaches to the bottom of the hood. In the "true morels" the stem and the hood are one piece and hollow when the mushroom is cut in half as opposed to the half free having an "overhanging hood". I hope that makes sense. I have looked for many morel videos over the last several years and this is probably the 1st I have seen from somewhere other than North America. Very cool to see and we still love the "half free" morels too. In my opinion, the "true morels" do have a much better flavor though. Happy hunting, it is just nice to get outdoors!!! The other important thing I want to mention is in the North American morels, is that the "False Morel" has a fibers in the stem when the mushroom is cut in half.
    If this is different there, please educate me or maybe I am misunderstanding this altogether. We also have woodears which is neat to see there too.
    See you have may other videos and am looking forward to looking at them also!!!

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  Рік тому

      Yes, these are not true morels nor half-free morels. These are so-called Early morels or also False or Thimble morels. The latin name is Verpa bohemica.

      @@LukesMushrooms Thank you for responding.
      I have done a bit of research into this, it appears yours are considered what we would call a 'false morel" which from what I have seen is considered not be edible as it is poisonous for many people. Do you get "true morels" there and/have you eaten them? My wife and I have only found 1 "false morel" and not kept it. We have kept and eaten mostly "true morels" and one season we did find several half free morels that we did keep and eat as well.
      Thank you for your time and responding to my comment. Our season is hopefully just starting to begin. It seems an early start so far going by the weather here , but we are still uncertain until we find them.
      Happy and safe hunting from Michigan USA.

      @@jamesflorindi4139 James, verpa is considered a "false morel" (being, you know, not a morel) but most people refer to them as an early morel or simply verpa. While verpa are sometimes called false morels, more often the term refers to gynomitra sp. I'm also in California and tbh mushroom hunters are often not consistent with naming but it's just semantics. As long as we all know what we're referring to.

      Yes, this is Verpa bohemica, which is not a true morel officially. I like to call it Early morel and here in Czechia they are considered to be a delicacy. However, some people might have allergy to these.

    In the Appalachian Mountains we call them long stems. Or some refer to them as a half free moral because of the cap not contacting the stem like the black,yellow,tan species do.

      Actually half-free morels are a different species which can look similar to these.
