Oh! Mr. Power: How marvelous are you in this film!! You was as talented as handsome! Thank you very much for all yours movies!!! My adored Ty: I love you so much, always!
I also love this movie. They just showed it here in Chicago before the 4th of July weekend. I loved every minute of it. It's funny and touching and a great movie.
Yes, Tyrone Power served in The United States Marine Corps during World War Two and afterwards in The United States Marine Corps Reserve and was a Major when he passed away from a heart attack while in spain. Ironically his only son, Tyrone Power Junior, was born after he passed away and is looks almost EXACTLY like his Father.
I read a story where he was flying off Iwo Jima and was not able to land, and had to ditch at sea......and broke a leg getting out of the aircraft....floated around a while with the crew until they were all picked up....read he was an extremely good pilot.
Thanks for uploading this. Mary O'Donnell was my gran's Aunt. I came across this clip while searching for the DVD for my Dad. As a youngster he went to see the film in Glasgow in 1955 with my Gran when they recieved two tickets from family in the US to see its premier in Scotland.
Hermosa película!! El gran Tyrone Power excelente, cálido, talentoso y tan hermoso como siempre! Las escenas con Maureen O'Hara, entrañables! El resto del elenco perfecto! Muchas gracias!
One of the funniest scenes in any movie is when Marty Maher is instructing a West Point class on proper swimming techniques. As the class is departing, he accidentally falls into the pool shouting, "HELP! HELP! I CAN'T SWIM!" Tyrone Power was marvelous!
William Overly: I am completely agree with you. The great Tyrone Power's performace in this movie is excellent! He deserved at least a Oscar nomination!
I have the DVD, I enjoy it every time I veiw it, Tyrone Power and Maureen O' Hara along with the other actors and actresses did a wonderful job. Especially filming at West Point. One great scene was the cadets paying tribute to The Mahers son who passed away.
Either a bio of Powers or Ford might supply the answer. In any case, I believe Wayne( who I'm a fan of) was too big for the role. Part of the humor comes from Martin 's less than stellar physical prowess!
Tyrone Power was a very NICE 👍🏻 ACTOR. According to everyone he was exceptionally NICE..PLEASANT..with all those who worked with him on screen! Cannot find this at all within HOLLYWOOD INDUSTRY today‼️ Instead..perverted and filth has entered movies❗️ Christians have entered more in producing films 🎥 and have been more since year 2000. Thank them ,and GOD. 💥I prefer watching movies in years past, because of the➡️ language, plus sexual scenes which are depicted straight from HELL itself…in present day movies. Even the 1980-1990’s movies have some DECENCY left, if a person reviews them before watching. I loved the Zorro movies Tyrone made..TCM will have ones on at times.
I have to say, Tyrone really shines in this movie ....I'm curious what made Ford pick Tyrone , and not Wayne......in 1955 there where alot of new actors on the scene....why did he pick Tyrone...... Anyone ?
I've watch this movie a hundred times. I'am a West Point Fan and always have.
Great Movie T.P. Should Got the Oscar for This Movie.
Agree 100 %.
Oh! Mr. Power: How marvelous are you in this film!! You was as talented as handsome! Thank you very much for all yours movies!!! My adored Ty: I love you so much, always!
Tyrone Power deserved at least a oscar nomination for his performance in this great movie!
Linda Sturm: Completely agree with you!! He is marvelous here!! It is a lovely film!!! :)
I agree. He was good. There are several movies I felt he should have been nominated. One was "Nightmare Alley."
Totally agree 👍🏻
Can’t figure out why he never received an Oscar..guess Hollywood rigged their voting 🗳 which happens today-WDC.
THANKS FORMER ACTOR TYRONE POWER FOR THIS MOVIE THE LONG GRAY LINE FROM THE WEST POINT ACADEMY.
I also love this movie. They just showed it here in Chicago before the 4th of July weekend.
I loved every minute of it. It's funny and touching and a great movie.
Truly one of the greatest movies in history.
4:40. One of the most poetic moments in all cinema.
Jake Stewart: Yes, I am completely agree with you!
It's beautiful
@@alimolina4279 I always get weird looks when I say this is my favorite John Ford movie.
@@gentlemanjake8005 : Don't worry about the weird looks. I love this movie so much, too.
Tyrone Power was a WWII marine aviator. Wore wings of gold, like myself. Just a really excellent film about West Point.

Mary o Donnell was my great great aunt! We must be related!

I LOVE this movie. Have not seen it in years, could someone upload it?
great movie 🇺🇸
This is some of the best work Power ever did. Marvelous
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this movie….for sure I need to watch.
@@FLIPPER1439 A John Ford favorite, I think you'll enjoy it.
I wonder why Ford gave the role to Power.....all in the movie are from his company....Tyrone is the odd man out . But he was great as usual....

@@blessOTMA I also don't think Wayne could pull off such a convincing Irish accent.....Ty does a very good job.
Really wished the Army would have kept the standing blue collar uniform. Much sharper looking then the Current Army lapel Dress Blue uniform.
It is good film with a an actor serve in USMC as a pilot in WW2 and his parents where Irish, the Irish great actress.
There first meeting , Marty got struck by "the thunderbolt".
1915, the Year that the stars shined at West Point.
Martin Mahr was actually in the Army 30 years, but worked at West Point for another twenty years after leaving the service
"The Class of 1915,when the stars shined."
I think that little Irish riff is actually Maureen O’Hara’s theme song. Lol.
I like her
Do you have the clip where the cadets go to congratulate him on the birth of his son, with out realizing the child has died.
53 seconds in (approximately)
Great actors.
Anyone know the tune at 4:40 the Cadets are marching to?
I would like to see this movie in full, could you please upload it.!! Thanks

West Point was amazing back in the day. It's too bad it became a total disgrace.
Never liked Tyrone Power...Except in this movie.
