This is exactly, what I just thought. I had the honor to experience Amy in December 2022 at the Night of the Proms in Hamburg. For me, this act was an absolute highlight. Amy comes on stage - and dominates it. Only a few artists manage to do that. And her music? Just amazing!

Just heard this in my hairdressers earlier. It nearly made me cry and it's such a brilliant song, even now in 2023! She's so talented. I got to see her play about 5 years ago maybe with Simple Minds and Chrissie Hynde. She's fantastic live. This will be my new ear worm for the next week, and for once I won't mind!

I listen to this song almost everyday. I know it sounds kinda masochist, but it reminds so so deeply my 4 years with my ex boyfriend and our short time in Scotland before I left for my country. It makes me so sad , the lyrics, you realise in life you meet people that are great in your life, then they become strangers, then same thing repeats again and again. Anyway who gives a shit, I needed to write that comment on this video...

10 years ago I was in a long distance relationship with a man who lived in London. I used to listen to this song every single time I took the coach down to see him. It always made me feel sad but I also felt compelled to listen to the song every time, not quite knowing why, it's a difficult feeling to describe. I think it's because I knew deep down we weren't right for each other, but I also loved him, and the song seems to connect to that feeling about mismatched couples and broken hearts and hope. The song still gives me this kind of sick feeling of doom in my stomach that I used to feel about that relationship, at the same time as giving me hope for the future and for finding the right person.
Bruh, i love this comment. Funny how songs are tied to people in such wildly differing ways. For me this song will always take me back to my early teens, it came out while me and my family were on holiday camping in Wales. I was flicking through the channels on the wind up radio we took with us, and this came on. We all ADORED it and I spent the rest of the weekend spinning the radio over and over searching for it again, got lucky a few times and so its completely tied to that for me and my family whenever it comes on in our house.
@D Jones That's such an interesting way of looking at it, you're right, thanks. I just re listened to it and it made me think that in a different life or in a different timeline perhaps me and this man would have been right for each other, but for various reasons in this lifetime we just weren't, and my heart and gut kept trying to tell me that by telling me to play this song, but it took me a while to face up to how I really felt because I cared about him a lot and enjoyed his company and didn't want to end what seemed like a mostly good relationship. It was very painful, but I felt and still feel relieved that I set us both free. I hope he is happy and settled with a woman who feels happy with him and doesn't have a knot in her stomach about their relationship the way I did.

@D Jones Thanks, I am open to meeting someone again, I'll see what happens, hopefully I will know when I have met him and I won't feel a knot in my stomach this time.
It's just a relationship. If it's any good it will last, despite the split. You can still stay friends you know. Or you'll get back together, Or it'll burn out. Whatever...Relationships are two edged swords really. My advice? Look at the heart. You want someone with a good heart - not just a good heart for you personally, but a good heart in general. And the better the heart you find, the happier you'll be. Took me nearly 50 years to appreciate that.....

Yeah, I used to be Mr Rock 'n' Roll - DJ supreme - thought I was going to make waves. Instead I barely made a ripple. And now at 76 I'm listening to Amy Macdonald and grateful there are still people around who can write and perform meaningful music like this. Thank you Amy - you are wonderful.

A long time ago, back when this song was new, my mum had a CD of it. So when I was younger, this was the song I used to hear whenever mum drove me anywhere, which means that most of my childhood memories are intertwined with this song.
It was only by rewatching an old videotape of my family trip to Scotland (from 2012) that I was able to find this eventually, and I’m happy that it’s still just as good of a song as I remember.
10 years later on UA-cam and i still listen this song here.

I was 22 when this song came out. I'd been having a bad time in my life but things really took off in the summer: I went to my first festival and I found myself surrounded by good people and was able to live how I wanted to (not just at the festival, but life in general). This is one of the songs I associate with that transition period.
