"In the space of just 30 minutes, the Russians inflicted 5000 casualties on Augereau's 7th Corp....effectively, it had ceased to exist"
    Just brutal!

Eylau was an utter massacre for the French and Russian Armies, a Waterloo before Waterloo basically.

Rest in peace 7th Corps. Imagine facing 70 guns only 30 yards away

Yeah that was devastating. It was a different division who faced the guns at 30 metres, but all were wiped away. What makes it worse is the unnecessary nature of the wars. The whole age was about spoiled congenital monarchs laying waste to their own populations to keep serfs in their fields & meritocracy from breathing.
It’s enough to make me want to vomit. Doubly so when people blame Napoléon for the wars.

@@ddc2957 anyone who blames napoleon for wars is pure idiot. Napoleon did not ignite those wars, he continued what coalition started. Despots were frightened because of revolution ideas and tried to shape france by their own mind which lead to millions of death

The morning of the Streltsy execution. With the suppression of the rebellion of his old pre-reform guard, the Russian Tsar Peter began the construction of a new type of state in Muscovy - the Russian Empire. European science, military technology and navy, under the brutal dictatorship of an absolutist monarchy. By paving the way to European markets through access to the Baltic, Russia became an important factor in world history for the next 300 years. But it all started then.
