  • Here is my video on what I have done so far with my Overland Trailer Project. I used a Lowes 3.5 x 5 Utility Trailer. It took a month or so to find it but I luckily I did.
    Hope you like the video. If you have any questions....comment below and I will try to answer as best as I can.

    You are the only one that has this type of build on here and I found it after I was done. I am an idiot in front of a camera, so I wont make one. I would like to say, thank you for making the video. All I have left to do is buy my tires, I already have some Jeep wheels to use.

    Non-welder here also. I built a wooden flat bed for my Ram 1500 and used those same bed racks front and back to support side boards. Good job on your project!

      One of the reasons I did wanted a small trailer was so that I didn't have to store everything on the truck....I have a Ram Rebel 2020. This made so much sense. I am adding the awning this week. The rails are a bit low so I got some L-Brackets that is 12" long on one end and I will bolt it to the Yakima rail...that should put the awning just above 6ft. Hope it will work.

    What about dropping your rack to the second level and putting a fold out tent on the top rack? Maybe a side mount for the kayak? Tent folds out to one side and you can fold your awning out to the other side

    • @MasChanclasAdventures

    i just surfed in to check out your setup on your trailer, nice setup i have that same exact trailer but instead a mesh floor i have a solid floor (metal) have had it for several years, you might try rotopax for water and fuel storage they are compact and can mount on the outside walls of your trailer to utilize the outer wall space. keep up the videos.

One of the stores only had one and I went the next day and it was gone. The other one had 6 and within 2 weeks they were down to 2 so I jumped at it. This was in January. Hope you find one...

I would have to remove it and I don't want to do that right now....maybe later. Also, in my opinion...if you go bigger then 14"....you will also need to get spacers...as the tire may rub on the basket.

Not sure tho. I also would love to do Big Ben soon....and also go to towards that panhandle to see some buffalo. There's a park up there have has some.

    With a small trailer such as yours, do you still have to gt the trailer registered, to include having the yearly safety check. Like you, I also live in San Antonio, so your tale of your trailer’s issue is what I”m also facing. I don’t havea truck, but I’m thinking of purchasing a used truck which will allow me to buy a trailer….

    • @MasChanclasAdventures
      @MasChanclasAdventures  2 роки тому

      When I bought it at Lowes...they said I needed to register it. So I went to the DMV and got it registered for about $140 or so. The lady there said I had to renew it every year for lower amount but she said most people don't renew it. I did not put the plate on the trailer...I leave it in my truck cuz I don't want it stolen. If I get stopped...i will just show them the plate. But that hasn't happened so far.

    Hey there! Any chance you had issues with the axle flip? I hear the axle can’t just be rotated as it messes with the tire wear.

    • @MasChanclasAdventures
      @MasChanclasAdventures  4 місяці тому

      I have not had any issue whatsoever. Tires are still looking good. No wearing out. it was really easy to do. Tho, I do plan to change the axle to something a little longer cause I want to put bigger tires. The ones I have now are trailer size 14". If I want to go bigger...I will have to remover the fender and get a bigger axle. Not sure yet. It's working great now so.....

    Hey Dave, your video inspired me to build my trailer. I have the Lowes 4x6. My question to you is does your trailer make a lot of noise when hitting bumps going down the road? I flip my axle and have 14” tire just like your. Is it because I don’t have enough weight on my trailer while towing it?

    • @MasChanclasAdventures
      @MasChanclasAdventures  Рік тому

      Hey LT, I can tell you that my trailer does not make alot of noise. But the few times I have used it....it has been filled with stuff. 2 things I did to it was make sure the back gate is securely closed since I don't ever take it off. And 2nd, I put a wooden floor so that helps with the noise....I am sure. Good luck with your project and send pics when you are done.

    Hey, bro. I enjoy your vids. I'm here in Helotes. Thanks for what you're doing. Just wondering. When you put the ladder rack on the trailer, could you have cut the top a little bit to fit across the trailer side by side instead of front to back?

    • @MasChanclasAdventures
      @MasChanclasAdventures  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the compliment. I thought about cutting it to make it shorter but there were a few things on the rack bar that I didn't want to mess with. Like the screw nuts that were welded on it. It is used to tighten and hold the the bars together. Like I mentioned...I don't know how to weld so I just didn't mess with it. I could have gotten a smaller rack brand new but it would have cost alot more then those 2 combined.

    • @MasChanclasAdventures

If you are going overland you want a all terrain tire cause in certain situations the cleets will keep it from sliding down where the highway tires you have will just slide. Only difference I'm going to do is put sides on it for security reasons and dust. By now I hope and pray you have had a great time and still going. Have you ever thought about putting a roof top tent on it? I don't know if you can carry your kayaks if you do. Take care my friend and Happy Trails!
