This video is about an unfortunate event that happened on April 6th, 1969.
On April 6th, 1969, a group of friends make their way to the City of Mount Gambier on the southern tip of South Australia to enjoy a relaxing day at Kilsby sinkhole. 3 of them would enter the water, and attempt to dive to 60 meters, or 197 feet. But only 1 of them would return.
This is their story.

I have never looked at a hole in the ground filled with water and thought, "I must explore this hole or die trying!"
I do. I love it.
You should use different background music. Using the same music as Scary Interesting makes you appear to be a copycat. Especially when you are covering the same type of content.
If you hoped no one would notice, you are incorrect.
It's probably copyright free. So everyone is free to use it and anyone to claim that someone else stole its use would be hilariously ironic.
You should use the music from "Directed by ROBERT B. WEIDE" no one is using that for horror stories.
This music is youtube music that is free. There are hundreds of channels that use it scary interesting just happens to be popular but they weren't first to use it either.
And he doesn’t know what he’s talking about either. He really said they were talking to each other under water 🤦🏻♀️
This channel really reminds me of the channel Scary interesting even uses the same music in the backround and explains scary true stories as well.
I noticed that too. I wonder if he did it on purpose. I don't think i like that. There's tons of diff scary/ intense tunes you could use. Why choose the exact same one?
Thought the same thing. A lot of channels on cave disasters have gone up in recent months. Competition can be good.
@@darkspark5770 competition maybe, but outright copying is unoriginal, at best.
I personally think the song is a perfect fit for the topic. I get your perspective but I don't have a problem with using the same song.
@@sjk7467 honestly I’m like 50/50 it fits well but you know dude got it from @ScaryInteresting
Correction, air embolism is not decompression sickness (not the bends) it means they ascended while holding their breaths and caused their lungs to burst. Possibly they ran out of air and tried to swim up holding their breath but you can't do that you must exhale. Inexperienced divers too deep, no doubt suffering nitrogen narcosis forgot their basics and died because of it.
Thanks for the comment! I'll be sure to update my notes, but from what I read I thought the bends were a form of air embolism as noted by the NHS. I'll make sure to dive deeper into the subject, no pun intended.
www.nhs.uk/conditions/air-embolism/#:~:text=Air%20can%20escape%20from%20the,a%20stroke%20or%20heart%20attack.
No, unfortunate events understand is correct. An air embolism is disolved gas (nitrogen) coming out of solution in the blood and blocking an artery. Typically in the coronary arteries that would cause sudden death. The gas is dissolved when breathing it at pressure when at depth and surfacing to quick causes it to come out of solution when the pressure drops. This is colloquially also known as the bends. It can also happen in other areas of the body that doesn't result in death, like body tissue and joints where it causes pain.
The lungs "popping" from breathing pressurized air and holding your breath while surfacing would be called baro trauma.
I like fresh air where I can breathe, and there's plenty to see and do on land. Can't understand why anybody would want to do these types of activities, but it does make for good content
@@jameshughes525 Once in a while I hear a diver state what I would hazard to guess is a thought held by many divers. That diving is more enjoyable than it would be due to nitrogen narcosis. Or something to that effect, that a decent amount of the enjoyment factor is because of nitrogen narcosis.
edit: Just for clarification, I have heard plenty of divers talk about it being enjoyable, but it is rare that I hear one directly state that it is one of the reasons they enjoy diving. I have a feeling that a lot of divers simply refuse to state as much.
@@whyjnot420 So in other words, Oxygen Bars are really missing an opportunity by not offering Nitro mixes to their patrons.
Another great video! Hoping to see you posting again soon!
Dawg you ripped off a another creator entirlely...
What a horrible way to die. But they made so many mistakes from the very beginning, it’s was kind of obvious that someone was going to end up paying with their life.
The background noise makes it unwatchable
Cave diving and sinkhole diving are so dangerous , I watch so many videos of people losing their lives from cave diving , I would be too afraid to venture into that blackness , even though I like the water as I am from florida , I also have a bit of fear when it comes to the water !
If you are trained and follow the rules of cave diving it's not inherently more dangerous than other activities. It's when people dive beyond their limits or start bending/breaking rules, especially ones they trained, when disasters can happen.
That music is a bit loud boss. Difficult to hear
Keep posting!! Good job and narration
an awesome account UE!
How were they talking to each other underwater? 🤦🏻♀️ come on dude
I enjoy all this content. But you're copying the theme music of another You Tuber who does similar content. I think it'd be better to find different music of your own.
Unfortunately, because of events like this, cave diving is now very safe
Lol, no, it's definitely not
Copying other channels way too much for my liking.
Lose the background music. I couldn't watch! :(
ur fault lol

Aussie here we pronounce Mt Gambier like Mt gam(as in ham)-b-r. I'm not gonna say anything about pronouncing anything other than Aussie crap. Really enjoyed this vid you have a new subscriber 🖤♥️🖤♥️🖤
Yep I noticed that too. Non Aussies all butcher pronunciation of our words
We don’t care how you pronounce words, we need you to stand up to these globalists who’ve taken over your country as many sit and watch. We need you brother. The whole west needs you!!
I'm sorry but you totally butchered the pronunciation of Mt Gambier. Mount Gam-b-er
That background music is overpowering and irritating.
A lot of these videos would be much better without background music, they don't need so called drama adding.
all these narrator's sound the same
Terrible 😣
Dive terminology is off on a few things but not too bed, but the background suspense music was overpowering an too much where its distracting an distorting your commentary.
I'll make sure to keep the music volume lower next time. And I also caught some issues myself, I should've researched a bit more and known that back then, divers still used J valves and not gauges. Thank you for watching!
The divers shown are using a configuration called sidemount. Sidemount didn't even exist until the late 1980's. The line is always tied 2x, the primary and then about 20 yards later a secondary tie off.
It's just background video. I don't think your supposed to think it is video from the incident.
The also didn’t have HD underwater colorized cameras in 1969. It’s a called a dramatization for a reason.

Let me guess... Unqualified idiots attempt a cave dive. I thank God every day that Darwin is alive and well.
The way you talk one would think that you are with them you describe things in detail as if you yourself are an cave diver
Adding corny b-movie horror music to descriptions of real life tragedy in a way belittles the seriousness of what happened to the victims, and condescends the audience.
I thought it was more suspenseful sounding, it really does add distracting noise to his speaking.
sorry, he can't pander to your exact wants and needs. Have you ever watched a movie? they put music in the background. It is overwhelmingly normal to have background music playing so stop complaining.
@@evanstegenga8255 that's exactly what i'm saying. these are real life events. not movies.
