- I recently purchased a new linear piston air pump to run my fishroom. In this video I talk about the differences between this pump and my old pump and whether the change was worth it.

Great review Steve. I prefer the piston air pump myself, but am not running as many tanks as you yet. 👍🐠
nice upgrade Steve good review
Great video thinking of buying that pump how many filters can it run ?
Steve wanted to let you know how inspiring your channel has been to me.I hope I can get to your level one day. I currently have a 55 gallon African cichlid tank with 12 fish in it. And I cant wait to get MORE.
+stephen ball thanks! Just take it slow. That's advice I wish I could go back and give to myself.
Great deal Steve
how do you change the standard 3/16 connectors on the sponge filters to the 1/4 inch hose you use??
I have a few Medo as well as an Alita. The cover is primarily used for outdoor applications. It can be removed which will disperse the heat.
+jhgannon1 good to know. It doesn't affect the noise level?
Steve Poland Cichlids It doesn't impact noise. The cover is meant to protect the pump from weather conditions.
Can I ask both you Guys for some advice .... I’m running a fish room with a lot of small
Air pumps and hobs. I have 30 tanks and I want to upgrade to a air pump, I’m leaning towards the linear piston because of less maintenance. Which one would you guys recommend for my fish room size that is low in watts as well so my electric bill wouldn’t be crazy. Thank u
Go to Jehmco.com and get one of theirs. Easiest way to go.
Hey steve. I was thinking of investing a good pump for my aquaponics system. It is a 16,000 liter tank. At the moment it has those cheap fined aerators with 35lpm. I was thinking of jecod aerator at aliexpress. I was looking for the linear piston models but none seem to be shipping to India or qatar.
Would you be knowing of any aerator that would be suitable for a 16,000 liter tank that does international shipping.
nice pickup Steve
+Adam C thanks Adam
Nice upgrade!
+Reggie's H&P Cichlids thanks Reggie
hii,, would you like to help me
to choosen which air pump should i bought.
i want to build fish room with 52 tank breeding guppies
dimension tank is 25*40*30
water level tank is 25*40*25
1 rack with 4 shaft (12 tank * 4 shaft)
im gonna using full undergravel filter
what a spec air pump base on you suggestion,
thank you :)
Steve, at what point do you think it's worth upgrading to a larger single pump to run all your air systems? For example, I am running 7-8 sponge filters plus several breeder boxes and an egg tumbler. All of these are running from a handful of Whisper pumps.
They're loud, but I can deal with a certain amount of noise. I'm more concerned with efficiency. So, for running 8-12 air driven systems, what would you do?
+Stevo Hoppa it's a tough call. If the space will allow you to run the pvc for a central system then I would normally say to go for it. But there will be some additional cost for the nozzles, etc. So be sure to factor that in. If you have a way to measure the power you're using now then I would say that's the best place to start.
Ok, thanks for the advice!
Steve if I could just ask one more question going to make a multiple tank purchase from a guy on Craigslist any tips on what to look for when buying used tanks
+stephen ball look at the silicone. If it's chipped then it could be reaching the end of its life which is around 10 years. Try to look at the glass with a decent amount of light to see if there are large scratches. The flashlight on your phone will usually do it.
Sir my aquariam size is 8ft ×1ft× 24inch me install jebo825 model .give the it's ideal size to work my aquariam water.reply
steve- if I have a 75 gallon cichlid tank running 2 spung filters. How big should my air pump be for proper filtration?
+jared martin it can be pretty small. Maybe one of the medium sized tetra whisper pumps
Nice new buy Steve and now I have seen the wife I can see her secretly smiling now because that damn noise downstairs has stopped hahahaha
+PsychedelicBabe haha maybe you missed the part where she never comes down here so she never even cared about the noise :)
i find it funny he shows you how loud they are with nothing connected making BOTH units louder then they would be when in use
How many outlets are you roughly running?
+Mbuna Marcus - Aquariums, Cichlids and More I believe it's 18. This pump has been a dream. So quiet.
Thanks bro....love to get one...hard to find here in Canada and between exchange and delivery the price is really steep...but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
Hey if made fish food like shrimp fish carrots and peas could I feed it to my African cichlids
+Matthew Smith yes you can make your own food. Just make sure you use the right ingredients depending on the type of African Cichlid
I have that same kilowatt meter, my wife thought that my aquarium was using too much power, I proved her wrong with that meter about $5 a month
+Todd T yes it's a great thing to own
Nice upgrade! I'll give ya ten bucks for that old rattle box....lol.
Hmm..for $10 I think I'll keep it as a backup. Better up that offer!
Steve Poland Cichlids Lol...wanna play hard ball eh? With the noise ratio its possible it could take away from the fishroom ambience, with that considered $20 & an autographed 8x10 from Gilbert. Lmao!
👍
yeah it's nicer but I can't find these medo pumps under 200$!!!!
+wichid cichlid I waited patiently until I found one at a good price. Took a long time.
yeah I'm waiting for one too, these are very nice pumps ,I'm glad to see your fish room getting the upgrade!
