- Just found out comments on UA-cam are currently disabled. Not sure when they will be back but I apologize even though I have no control over it. We really enjoy the comments you guys leave and hopefully we will have them back sooner than later. Anyways I finally started picking at the Forgotten Single Cab. Hope to start bombarding you will Single Cab videos and look forward to seeing it on the road. Another thing we are going to try is to offer any Volkswear Fans out there the opportunity to participate in Channel Donations. We just set this up and look forward to doing some funs things with it. Looks like the dirt was used like insulation to preserve it after 50+ yrs. Wow awesome. My neighbor back in 1970s had one and it was the first time I saw one like it. Early 70s...they definitely used great metal that would last for many years.
The truck being left as is and made a safe driver again is the correct thing to do. This truck has so much personality, that makes it so great. I am glad you and your family are doing well and thanks for letting us share some shop time with you. God Bless and be safe!

For its age it's in pretty awesome shape for a 59 and that treasure chest is immaculate hope to see more of your progress
Wow! Looks about like my old '57! Same color and everything. I'm amazed that the drop gates line up & are hinged perfectly
I agree with you, the best for this truck seems to keep its original paint. Fixing stuff is good, as needed, it will be about adding to its history but keeping it all the previous history for people to see. When someone paints a car like this then its history gets simplified into two chapters. Basically it resets it, it starts over.

If you don't want it to rust any more, paint it with boat paint, the kind that is placed on boats to walk in the salty water of the sea.

I'm sorry. You know the last few years have just flown by. The girls are at a very busy age and life has just been out of control. Every year I tell myself "This is the year" and then before I know it the year has come and gone. I'm going to be doing this in very small increments but hopefully all the baby steps will add up to a truck on the road before too long. Thanks for hanging in there with us. JC.
This is an interesting project and i had a vision how this Bus will be finally.
To mention, you forgot the bended rear wall on the cab.
The headboard is pretty hammered. I figured for sure the bed would be pretty beat up given the shape of the headboard but it is actually pretty straight. Thanks for watching. JC.

Apparently UA-cam had some advertisers threaten to pull ads over what they deemed "harmful" comments. They immediately took down the comment section to try and appease the advertisers. UA-camrs had to go in and re-enable comments on their videos and take responsibility for policing comments on their channels. From what I've been told they can actually take down channels that have potentially harmful comments displayed. I just fixed it so now all our videos have the comment section back. I can't imagine UA-cam without the comment section. I think it is a vital part of the platform. Thanks for watching. JC.

Thank You. We love it too. Recently I learned the location of my old 1961 Single Cab that I sold years ago. I immediately started thinking of making an offer on it or trading one of my other Buses for it but then as I thought more about it I realized how much more the Forgotten Single Cab means to our family. It really is a part of our family and I hope to keep it in the family for many years to come. JC.
where do you live that thing was buried in dirt and didn't rust..thats unbelievable. good luck on getting that restored you can do it. ill be watching for updates.
