I hadn’t thought of it this way and there’s a damn good chance you’re right.
The pharmacies are the same in Colombia. You go and describe or show symptoms and they’ll give you something. I asked for nasal spray once and ended up getting a spray that was just saline. So the next time I had to ask very specifically for congestion.
Now Spanish is more native to Tatis than me, but it’s quite easy to believe he walked into a pharmacy showed them his neck and they gave him a spray.
The biggest error is not telling the team doctor. I can’t put myself in his millionaire shoes, but I’m an idiot guy too, I could easily see myself getting a spray and using it without thinking twice, because who would think that a skin spray would contain steroids. But when you’re at his level, that phone call to the team doctor has to be placed.
its a much better system than in the USA. you dont need expensive doctors visits to be able to get some medicine. Ive gotten good helpful medicines there just by going to the pharmacy
Tatis took steroids...plain and simple. It's extremely hard for people to accept this therefore they will believe anything and the players know it. Stop being delusional.

Important to point out that while nba players were tested half as many times on average, the nba season is almost exactly half as many games as the mlb season
So while that's true, when you measure the season length by days you'll get:
MLB: 187 days
NBA: 173 days

The problem with baseball, as with many other sports is the people "in charge" of testing have zero incentive to find anything. The League only cares about viewership and thus did nothing when drugs were allowing players to hit more runs, get more bases and basically make a more exciting game.
If nothing else the fact the punishment for getting caught is only a suspension of games and not banning from the sport is a good sign they don't really care.
then why would they suspend the BEST and BRIGHTEST and FUNNEST player in the league? is that a good look for the league? they coulda done NOTHING behind closed doors, but didnt. I think your confusing sports with politics.

"Known to slow down bone healing"
Tatis wrist injury typically takes 3 months to heal and at the time he was suspended, he was already at 5+ months in the healing process
An element of Tatis' recovery is that they discovered the fracture well after the injury occurred because of the lockout, so it added time to the process to get it properly healed
Testing really doesn't matter. The lack testing probably would make it easier to get caught because juicers might get lax in their usage and not take the precautions to not test positive. Then they suddenly get tested after all the no-testing. They'd be like "oh shit! I didn't take the diuretic."
The test can be passed easily if you take an organic diuretic. (Organic diuretic is undetectable.) The increase flow of urine, dilutes the urine. The way testing is done is only a urine test initially. If you test negative for banned substances, there is no more testing. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
With this system of testing and the player is using an organic diuretic, they only way you can get caught is if you are tested right after dosing.

I still think it was a poor choice to vilify the 'steroid era players' of the 90's and early 2000's as much as the media and some fans did considering the history of it in the sport (as well as other sporting leagues). If a player gets caught with a banned substance in their system, suspend them, and move on. The MLB has never fully recovered attendance-wise, viewership-wise, and their reputation since that era. Baseball fans have a bad habit of romanticizing the game so much in their head on how it should be played and how it 'use to be', but then forget there was weird and nutty shit happening in every era of the sport that doesn't make any decade more or less moral than the other
Not to mention the weird double standard we have as PEDs are openly used in Hollywood.
honestly this tha truth!
I think a good enough punishment was that Sosa, Bonds, and McGwire never won a World Series in that era. But, they should still be in the Hall of Fame. Pirates hat for Bonds, Rangers hat for Sosa, and Athletics hat for McGwire; so, that everybody can be happy. Sometimes it makes you wonder: Does the MLB truly care about cheating?
@@manzac112 I thought of the baseball gods when I saw Ryan Braun wipe out running to home and fall down. It seemed like they tripped him for doing it again after getting caught. Players have always been told that they required tribute by playing respectfully and with honor. And they punished people that don't.
I just think men worshiping other men that play games is weird.
Performance enhancers are extremely common in all professional sports, it has never gone away. It's pretty common with serious athletes starting in high school. Even the testing protocols from the different leagues are made extremely lenient (intentionally), to where as you would have to mess up pretty badly to get caught. If you have ever played in a major professional sport or worked for one of the teams, you would get a better picture of the reality. Between the MLB, NBA, and NFL - I would say about 98% are enhancing in one way or another that would technically be against the rules (but most could still pass the testing). Let's be honest - it's all about the money to the teams and athletes. The better the athletic output, the more money to be made. Drug testing is strictly to keep the every day fan believing everything is being done completely naturally. You can't just deny enhancers are being used, it's pretty obvious. But you can't tell the truth, you don't want to inspire generations of youth to take dangerous substances. Definitely a conundrum.
My buddy had been juicing since his mid teens. I’m pretty educated on the subject. Most of the general public don’t even understand the basics of PEDS.
Hockey players NEVER take PEDs, and its one of the major North American sports.
The amount of research it took to make this is amazing
Every athlete should be responsible of what goes into their body
Like Tom Brady. No way in hell at age 45 he isn't take PEDs.
They know.
Sometimes you don’t know
At the highest level of sports PED’s will always exist. For example mma fans make me laugh when they talk about USADA when we know for a fact a huge percentage of the roster is on something. Also, what happened to failed drug tests these days, we rarely hear of them.
drug tests are an i.q test, nothing more

If you are a multi million dollar athlete who has a world class training staff at your disposal, how could you possibly "accidentally" take anything? If I knew my season and my livelihood was on the line, I would run EVERYTHING by my training staff before taking ANYTHING. It's ridiculous, his GM was beside himself and spoke to Tatis' lack of maturity. This is yet another example of the San Diego Padres not being ready to be winners on an organizational level.
Lets be honest here. No one is gonna second guess taking a spray/cream to treat a skin disorder like ringworm because is common. U would be lying to urself if u say u would check that. rich athlete or not, u not checking a common medicine.
@@alexandervargas79 Name 1 other MLB player who has been suspended for using this. It's pretty obvious to anyone with any common sense that Tatis' rehab was taking a bit longer than he would have liked. He likely lost some strength (anybody would after wrist surgery) and was looking for a little help. The vast majority of MLB players are extra careful and don't take stuff without running it by their training staff. That's why only 1-2 players get suspended per year. Other than some disillusioned Padres fans, NOBODY buys Tatis' excuse. Dude has 340 million reasons to pay more attention to what he puts in his body.
@@socalastarte6727 Did you even watch the video? The substance he tested positive for is one of the easiest to detect and slows down recovery. If he wanted help to gain back loss muscle mass, he has the money to get better PEDs that are harder to detect and will give him a performance boost. Not one that will prolong his injury and have little results in performance gains. This video explains why it make no sense for Tatis to willing take the substance he took for performance gains. He shows that the spray Tatis used for ringworm is widely available and recommended in the DR. Its like the problem talked about in the video went over your head.

They should adopt the Pro cycling testing protocols. When not at an event, those cyclists can be tested on 2 hours notice any day of the year. They have to provide their whereabouts for everyday of the year in advance and there is a notification window of change in location - they can't change locations last minute. During events, they can get tested anytime. They have even woken competitors up at 6am for testing during the Tour de France.
Procyclists are not unionized, so I am guessing that's what keeps testing standards more in player's favor in the American pro sports.

Just so people know, HGH is actually potentially quite devastating to Healing when it comes to tendons and ligaments. Turns out that so is Advil or Ibuprofen basically. So wow hGH can do some amazing stuff and is really bad for many baseball injuries from the thrilling motion at least as most of those will directly involve tendons and ligaments
Well NSAIDs of any type have negative affects on healing with regards to broken bones, muscles, tendons, & ligaments in the very early healing stages. That being sad hGH hasn't been found to have much of either a positive or negative affect on healing tendons & ligaments. There have been some studies with slight positives & others with slight negatives. None of the effects were that significant in any of the studies. Though it does absolutely help with healing bones & it was the wrist fracture that I'm pretty sure the video was referring to when talking about the healing affects of hGH.

It DOES make sense, it adds bat speed which adds to your power increasing your HR's. Barry Bonds used the excuse he didn't know what his personal trainer was injecting him with. Every single one of these Dominican players run back home the day the season ends and starts using again to get ready for the next season. Some even invite teammates who not surprisingly seem to be "bigger" at the start of the next year. Steroids are legal in all of these Latin countries so I'm not surprised to hear most players run there to prepare for the next season. There's 0 excuse for Tatis to have even "accidentally" taken PEDs. he has every resource imaginable available at the ready for him via team doctors. they will prescribe, diagnose, and look at anything any player needs them to on or off the field. They drill into players heads that the team doctors should be consulted when consuming any medicine or medical treatment. Tatis was an idiot to ignore all that and bypass it. "Accident" or not, the suspension is very deserved. He's a dope.
It happened during the lockout. So he didn’t have the team doctors at the time

You "went to the drugstore" in the DR? (where they regularly give out roid creams, no prescription)
You "passed a drug test" for PEDs like clostebol?
wow that IS a crazy coincidence

Bear in mind Tatis Sr was also a known juicer, so cheating runs in the family. Even on the infinitesimally small chance he isn't lying, he has an obligation to not use substances without checking with the team doctor. Shows his immaturity, especially after the motorcycle incident.
Tatis is legit though...he hasn't been taking PEDs during his career. He has only done it recently but that was just to heal faster. Unfortunately, he reputation is now ruined because people only see "TATIS TAKES PEDS" and thats all they read.

@@slickrick2204 True true BUT...that means that basically all the Dominican players in the league need to be tested and it's not just Tatis (if he was taking PEDs to actually enhance performance)
The night before tatis ban, My Old Man and I went to go see him play on the San Antonio missions vs the rough riders. It was awesome and then the very next day while at the gym I get a notification of his ban 🤦♂️
Go watch Lindor, Judge, Ohtani or Trout son, non cheaters.
@@slickrick2204 Or my BOY, Bryce Harper
Watch Marwin Gonzalez he's not a cheater 💯🤣
So there I was minding my own business when I hear TNT by AC/DC coming from my pocket. I wonder why is Grandma calling at this hour? I answer. She says help help I've fallen and I cant get up. I have to go help granny right away, I run out the door and start heading to her place and quickly realize that running is not my best idea as she lives 5 miles away. I try to order an uber but nobody is available. I call for a cab but they don't run to the area. So I decided to throw up my thumb and see what took. Thats when a black van pulled up beside me. Before I knew what was happening they had me in the back with a bag over my head. I tried to ask where they were taking me and they struck me over the head knocking me out cold. When I woke up I was in a hospital in Mexico and I had no idea what was going on. A doctor came over and explained that they found me outside the doors in bad shape and had fixed me up. I asked for a phone to call my family and tell them I was ok and to check in on grandma and he left to get me a phone. That's when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. A bag of blood. Hooked right up to me, I must have needed a transfusion. I squinted my eyes and I was just a ble to make out the donor information label... B. Bonds... And that's how I tested positive. Not my fault
Tatis's hitting numbers have gone south since he came back from his suspension. He's like Ryan Braun - just an ordinary player w/o the 'roids. Shades of Jason Giambi, Albert Pujols, and Miguel Cabrera. Once they get the long-term MEGA-contract, they can get off the 'roids and start to suck.
Love to see the uploads more often! Keep up the grind
this guy made a steroid video and showed a single yankee nd babe ruth doesnt count because it was a ingenuine fairy tale and even if he did inject himself with sheep semen who cares, we talking hard steroids, so where was A-Rod? Petite? Clemens? Giambi? cervelli? sheffield? bro cmon make better content. Melky was on the giants.
@@rohanmart106 My guy you need to calm down. He mentioned melky like once. Th video was more focused on people who juiced with exotic things or who took large amounts of PEDs (Braun). Like calm down
It's really funny to me that there are still people who think there are any athletes competing in major sports who aren't on PEDs.
Depends what you mean by PEDs. They all take supplements, but I do believe most guys (at least in MLB) only take things that aren’t banned. None of them are just taking muscle milk and calling it a day, but they’re also not all on steroids or HGH
This whole situation reminds me of the late great Australian cricket star, Shane Warne, getting banned for a year from cricket in 2003 for taking a diuretic, which could be used as a masking agent for other PEDs...hence why, at the time, it was on the banned list. Subsequently, it was shown that what he took wasn't strong enough to mask any steroids or anything else...so it was taken off the banned list.
He told the authorities he got it from his mother, who told him it helped with fluid retention. He accepted the ban at the hearing saying that although the substance wasn't technically a PED, he should have known better and checked with the team doctor that what he was about to take was on the ban list.
Same with Tatis Jr here. If his story is true, he should have checked with the team doctor that what he was taking was legit. And the ban is punishment for not checking, assuming that he's not lying. If he is lying and he was taking PEDs then, that's a different story.
His suspension wouid go from 80 games to like 30 if he successfully appealed
I don’t even watch baseball but I watch every one of your vids, keep it up
I’m Dominican and being from DR I know the scenario he started this issue is completely true. I’m glad what happened was because of the crème he was and not for something to improve his performance at baseball but I do believe it is extremely careless what he did therefore if 80 games is what will make him mature and understand he has to be a professional I’m down for it. My guy still top 5 in baseball and that’s all that matters to me
Did he get ringworm during the off season?
@@xwarped83 he and his family had said he got it by a haircut, which happens all the time in DR because barbers even they are very good, they don’t clean their equipment as they should. I even got them 2 times during the 15 years I lived in DR due to irritation and temperature of my beautiful country, he got it by the end of June and in July he tested positive to a skin Reliever/steroid. I also think A lot of the people commenting on this subject don’t understand in depth what steroids are.
@@leunysramirezgarcia2624 it’s a very probable story. He’s still a dummy for not checking with the team before using some kind of medication, it’s ridiculous how many athletes do these sort of things.
@@xwarped83 I completely agree with you. Specially after landing a 340M contract, very careless and hopefully he matures from it.
Nigga you from Puerto Rico stop it
I love how different baseball culture is from other sports. Tatis gets caught and everyone is calling him a liar and a cheater. Deandre Hopkins tests positive and everyone is just like “see you week 9”
One time I got a frantic call from a friend that needed a urine sample for his drug recovery. He convinced one of our friends to do it that is super straight edge, in great shape, and it was positive for cocaine. He kept laughing saying he was being pranked because there's no way he can test positive for any type of substance, and the original kid ends up getting dropped from the program, so the next day the kid gets blood work done because he was so mad that he was being accused of "doing that to his friend" and it was completely clean.
He says the only thing he drinks besides water is coffee sometimes and a pre-workout when he needs a boost. The point is I hear people doing jail time over these drug tests. How accurate are they? I'm leaning towards thinking that the original kid lied to get out of the program purposely, but idk...its something I still think about a lot lol
What makes for the best/most ridiculous excuses? When a player tests hot for a banned substance, or when a player gets injured off field doing something stupid and/or prohibited in their contract?
Yep, I tell people all the time they were using peds even back in the early 1900s lol athletes have always looked for ways to get an advantage and that's never changed and never will change
I love baseball, something about this sport that just draws me to it more then other team sports. But the cheating is just terrible. From steroids to sign stealing it’s bad. And what’s worse is that the mlb is most likely hiding most of it. For instance the Astros, loved watching them in 2017 then the sign stealing happened and it really cast a shadow over them. But to think that they were the only team using this is naive. Bc if the small Astros were doing it the big Yankees and dodgers with a lot of pressure to win were most likely doing it and that’s the shitty thing about the mlb they’re covering it up. Use a team and a couple players as a scape goat instead of coming clean.
So many people try to pass off the Astros sign stealing and say to move on, it was 5 years ago, yada yada. I hate it. It’s history. It’s a complete black stain on the best sport in the world.
It is history. It is shown so it’s never forgotten, and to never forgive MLB for such little action. That franchise is forever tainted and will live on forever
@@billcosby668 wrong. You completely missed the point of what you're responding to.
The Astros absolutely were not the only team to cheat. That same season, the MLB covered up the Apple Watch cheating by the Red Sox and Yankees. The MLB scapegoats the average popularity Astros and did nothing to the Sox and Yankees.
When I think cheater I immediately think of steroid users like David Ortiz who still hasn't explained his failed test, Ryan Braun who lied and ruined a guys life and Barry Bonds, who never failed a test but miraculously hit 70 bombs at 39 years old and had his head grow to a size 9. Insane.
The Astros hit a trashcan, bro. Nobody cares 5 years later. But everyone still hates a roid cheat.
@@billcosby668 I don’t think most people are saying yeah move on, the biggest fanbases like the Yankees and dodger fans are still crazy about it. It’s funny though bc the Yankees are about to have a document release that is court mandated that shows the Yankees were sign stealing in 2016 and the commissioner did nothing and hid it.
@@jordank316 you know that letter was released many months ago towards the beginning of the season, and it said absolutely nothing about the matter? You can search up a lot about it already. It proved nothing. Changed nothing.
If anything MLB should be the ones shit on about how they handled the Astros compared to steroid users. Doesn’t change it’s the Astros that did it on the grandest stage of them all.
The test per season bar cited in the video compares MLB per season to NBA and notes it is half as often. When one season is twice as long as the other in games played, it sort of makes sense they could/would test twice as much, no?
to be fair not trusting the team doctor or and doctors is very understandable for him and where he’s coming from lots of doctors in the Dominican republic can be shady at times
I am not a baseball fan but I love this channel so much. Excellent stuff!
Lol same. Baseball isn't even a thing in my country 😅
Steroids weren’t even banned by MLB til 2005 so can we put Bonds in the HOF already?
Idc if they don't put him in the HOF, he's still the HR leader and nobody is gonna break his record, even with steroids
Tim Raines most certainly wasn't the only player to carry blow on themselves. He just didn't mind admitting it. 💯
Every time I look at this guy I see Brittney Griner sitting in a jail cell, claiming she didnt have any weed in her suitcase.
Meanwhile, Trevor Bauer is suspended for 4x the number of games from unverified accusations
Good. Hes basically Dave Portnoy -- a narcissistic, sexually violent, right wing asshole. The accusations make so much sense and are not surprising in the least. Hes 100% the kind of person who would do what he did just like Dave portnoy
