I absolutely loved this!! This has got to be one of the best tours of a small town in Texas that I have watched on UA-cam so far! right now I’m looking at places in Texas. I could potentially move to in the future right now. I am a college student that has a 3.0 GPA but I would stay in watch the rest of this video but I have more homework to do. also I need to watch another video about greune Texas next goodbye and ciao my friend
Still a great video even thought its “old”. The Hamburger Store closed years ago. It’s an Italian restaurant now. River Bend restaurant is closed which is unfortunate cause the food was good and the place had a great atmosphere. Big Pines Lodge is open and has great food.
We were there yesterday on our way home from camping. I was looking for the Hamburger Store which I couldn’t remember the name. 😂. Thanks for the help

The Hamburger Store was here in 2016 when I moved here. Then they closed and now it’s an Italian Restaurant. Sure do miss those hamburgers. They were so delicious. ❤
I live about 30 mins from Jefferson & can say with pride that it's one of the greatest little towns in Texas!!! The General Store is my favorite store in the world....hands down! And River Bend is a MUST when visiting! 💖💖💖
@@brendaokuda2158 Jefferson is also the home of the Blackburn syrup works. They still make really good jams, jellies and syrups. I grew up eating their products
The Jay Gould story with Jefferson is fascinating! According to legend, Gould wanted to take his railroad through Jefferson, but the city fathers wouldn't let him, so he allegedly put a curse on Jefferson, saying weeds would grow in the streets, and bats would roost in the belfries of the town.
Day Tripper, Maybe you should have mentioned that your video was filmed more than 4 years ago as the Hamburger Store has been closed for over 4 years. Glad we did a little research before doing a day trip there this weekend. Not very trustworthy UA-camr for making it appear that this was filmed recently.
The Red River log jam made lake Caddo much deeper. East Texas cotton was moved to New Orleans down the Red River.
Thank you DayTripper, your helping me find towns I never knew existed, and experiences to have.
Ironically, the Hamburger Store, is now a pizza and pasta place. I did not know you were a fortune teller. 😂
🧙♂️🪄

I'm lucky enough to live here year round. It's a wonderful place to live!

In the 90’s the Hamburger Store was the best spot to eat! Hands down!
We all appreciate these!!!
I must say again....this is way better than the ddd dude.....WAY BETTER!
Yes sir! Been looking forward to seeing your Caddo Lake episode 😁

Thanks for your show on pbs
I have autism and I love the Colorado episode.
Just found this video of my home town (Jefferson). Would love for you to visit again and do an update!
Does the grey ghost still operate at Caddo lake?
No. It sank at Big Pines Lodge. You can see it partially in/out of the water. They have been using pontoon boats for the tours for several years now.
Hey love your channel! We live in Gtown! Can you do a good video on Wimberley! So much Art there!
Ah, Jefferson. Seat of Marion County, and home of the scariest stories in East Texas.
Love going to Caddo Lake.
Wow! That exact piano chair sat in my house growing up. Memories :)
Can you upload the rest of season two and three?
I actually have lived in Jefferson for the past 32 years lol. I live about 100 yards from the watertower

It is because the town would not defer the taxes for the railroad.
Been watching these videos on YT for a while but they all say "originally aired on PBS in October 2014..."
I could tell by the boat ramp that this has been a while. It hasn't been accessible for a long time now
Sad that😮 the Hamburger Store is permanently closed.
I dont think I’ve had a sandwich in Jefferson that I could eat without practically dislocating my jaw lol
What is that buzzing sound during the Caddo Lake scene?
Cicadas.
chili burger: first bites the hardest, LOL
This looks like home to me . ❤
Just google this restaurant, it says permanently closed?
Yes , This is an old video. Its been closed for years. There is an Italian restaurant there now.
The Excelsior House and the Atalanta are borh owned, operated and maintained by the Jesse Allen Wise Garden Club.
I live in Jefferson and there's no place like it or Caddo lake!
They are called hamburger toppings, not bottomings
Also, the Adams family's house was never scary
You missed so much in Jefferson, you didn't even take the ghost tour.
🥰
How old is this video??? Jefferson isn't quite what it is in the video. Edit: ahh just saw 2012 at the end...
Texas..." tall mountains." 😂

We're a PBS show and recently decided to put everything on UA-cam. We disclose the original air date in the caption. Sorry for any confusion.
