My only experience is what I can listen in records, but I'm sure that being in a live performance was totally different and I need to know how it felt like.
This was before Onassis got her and fed her cigarettes and kept her out late at night and then broke her heart. She was truly the best. No-one has come close since. She has something special. Magnificent Maria Callas❤️

Mais j'ai passé mon enfance et ma prime adolescence à Toulon, ville fantastique à l'époque, où se côtoyaient les truands, mafiosis, futures vedettes du Conservatoire de Toulon (Mireille Darc), et le peuple toulonnais, féru de musique. L' Opéra de Toulon était le passage obligé des futures vedettes, où les attendaient des spectateurs très cosmopolites, en même temps que les "hommages" tout aussi diversifiés, allant des fleurs, bien sûr, aux invendus du marché du matin😊 Maria Callas y avait fait un triomphe: je me souviens aujourd'hui encore de l'expression émerveillée d'un maçon italien mimant ses attitudes dans Tosca.

Elle atteint un sommet dans le stupéfiant mimodrame qu'elle exécute pendant l'introduction orchestrale de la scène finale du Pirate. Ses disques ne nous ont malheureusement restitué que la moitié de son art. Ce concert de 59 est un miracle, avec le 2e acte de Tosca à Paris en 58 et des bribes captées ici et là. Par chance il reste beaucoup de photographies.

Soy fanática de ella desde que mi padre, de muy chica, me la hacía escuchar!! Además, después de leer su biografía, me sorprendió que se dejó morir por amor a un sátrapa, como Onasis que no la merecía.

Con frecuencia veo videos de diversas sopranos actuales, todas son voces muy bellas. Casi siempre termino con María Callas y termino convencido que ha sido la mas bella voz de todos los tiempos. Que emocionante es oírla.
Sinceramente de las sopranos actuales la gran mayoría son muy mediocres, con técnicas pésimas, voces muy pequeñas, que no pueden sostener una línea de canto y escaso virtuosismo.. El oasis para mi son Saioa Hernández y Marina Rebeka, el resto para olvidar. Saludos cordiales.

Una maravilla! Puede que la voz no esté en su mejor momento, pero la gestualidad está toda dentro de lo que permite un recital. La manera de decir, la expresividad en cada nota junto al lenguaje corporal! Hace que uno pueda imaginar sus grandes roles en los múltiples coliseos que albergaron a La Divina.
Ces années sont difficiles pour Callas. Il est incroyable de penser que sa vraie carrière a en fait duré dix ans, mais dix ans qui ont marqué de façon définitive l'histoire de l'Opéra. Tous les documents enregistrés et filmés de cette dernière période sont cependant fascinants car si la technicienne Callas était amoindrie, si la voix était abimée notamment dans l'aigu et encombrée d'un vibrato, l'ARTISTE, Callas, l'INTERPRETE subliment tout cela et rendent l'ensemble fascinant, unique. Une chose serre le coeur: les échanges de regards avec le chef, notamment dans le premier concert, où l' on sent la tension et le désarroi quand la voix n'obéit pas et oblige à des subterfuges dans les airs de la Vestale, ou du Pirata, voire craque dans Macbeth. Mais le soleil de Callas n'est pas près de se coucher à l'horizon de l'art lyrique!

Una maravilla! Puede que la voz no esté en su mejor momento, pero la gestualidad está toda dentro de lo que permite un recital. La manera de decir, la expresividad en cada nota junto al lenguaje corporal! Hace que uno pueda imaginar sus grandes roles en los múltiples coliseos que albergaron a La Divina.
Ces années sont difficiles pour Callas. Il est incroyable de penser que sa vraie carrière a en fait duré dix ans, mais dix ans qui ont marqué de façon définitive l'histoire de l'Opéra. Tous les documents enregistrés et filmés de cette dernière période sont cependant fascinants car si la technicienne Callas était amoindrie, si la voix était abimée notamment dans l'aigu et encombrée d'un vibrato, l'ARTISTE, Callas, l'INTERPRETE subliment tout cela et rendent l'ensemble fascinant, unique. Une chose serre le coeur: les échanges de regards avec le chef, notamment dans le premier concert, où l' on sent la tension et le désarroi quand la voix n'obéit pas et oblige à des subterfuges dans les airs de la Vestale, ou du Pirata, voire craque dans Macbeth. Mais le soleil de Callas n'est pas près de se coucher à l'horizon de l'art lyrique!
Meravigliosa...soprattutto nel concerto del 62 dove compensa con fraseggio ed interpretazione a qualche problema vocale.. ce ne fossero oggi di questi ARTISTI

Ahhhh nel 1962 la Kallas diretta da G.Pretre ! Lo ascoltai dirigere a Roma a via della Conciliazione. Ed io in quel tempo iniziavo a emergere come bravone nel solfeggio e contralto nel coro del collegio. Mentre nel 1963 iniziai a suonare l'harmonium. Solo nell'ottobre 1964 entrai a conoscere il greco in ginnasio e fino al 1968 5 anni di confidenza con lingua greca e Sofocle Euripide Eschilo . Ma del mondo musicale teatrale non ne sapevo nulla e del canto lirico pure.
