    Thank you for addressing the stud. I’m literally sitting here doing the prep work for when my arc comes this weekend and realized I had a stud here!

    Holy cow, thank you so much. I'm moving into a new house and I could not find a good video on how to route the power cords without breaking fire code. I did not know these things existed, I feel so relieved. Great video, I really appreciate it.

    Was there actually enough room to bunch up the included cable behind the arc? I have a similar kit from sanus and I’m thinking that I’ll need a 1ft C7 cable to replace the original arc power cable.

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 роки тому +1

      There was enough room. It was a little bit of a pain to do it but not too bad. If you can get a shorter cable i would say go for it.

      Hard to say. It looks like it will fit but the sonos one is slightly different. www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/power-cable-i.html

    How did you decide on the TV height? What is your measurement?

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  3 роки тому +4

      Thats the fun part.... If you look at the recommended height for a TV, you typically want the center of the TV eye level when sitting. If you look at the recommended placement of a sound bar its ear level... Sooo that wont work for obvious reasons. The room I have the TV in, is a room that people could also be standing in. I knew going a little higher with the TV was no big deal. Right now from the floor to the bottom of the TV I am at 43 inches. From the floor to the bottom of the sound bar I am at 35.5 inches. The arc sound bar is about 3.25 inches tall. So I have roughly 4.25 inches between the top of the sound bar and the bottom of the TV. Sonos recommends 4inches to make way for the up firing Atmos speakers. The Atmos speakers are at a 30 degree angle in relation to the wall. So 4in, if the TV is flush mount is plenty of space to get out of the way.
      At the end of the day the soundbar is slightly below ear level, and the TV is a little above eye level. I basically just compromised. For me this is no big deal. People put TV's higher than this every day when they mount them above fireplaces. If the TV does start to get a little high, then you may want a TV mount that tilts the TV downward. This can help the viewing angle and cut down on glare. If you do that... I would highly recommend the Sanus Arc mount. This way you can pull the sound bar out from the wall when you go to watch a movie.
      Hope thats helpful!

    Hmm… seems like the bracket hardware to hang the ARC is the better option than wall mounting.

    Great vid, ran into the same issue with the stud being right in the center of the mount. Will try the 1/4" nylon spacers you mentioned but was curious: did you use the original screws included with the Sonos mount or did you use longer screws to account for "lost length" from the spacers? The mount itself is about 1/4" + 1/4" (for the spacer) + 1/2" drywall depth = 1/2" of remaining screw threads into the actual stud and wasn't sure this was enough to hold the weight of the Arc.

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 роки тому +1

      I can’t remember what i did exactly. If your only 1/2into the stud i would get a longer screw. Try to be closer to 1in. I also ended up putting some wood shims below the screws to just prop out the bottom. It probably would have been fine but didn’t want to risk it sagging in the future. I just shoved them between the bracket and the wall.

      @@CiscoSal Was wondering about that sagging possibility too. Thanks again for this useful video! It was the only one that addressed this issue of the center stud getting in way.

    Nice Video, Why couldn't you just notch stud as long there were nothing in your way like electric wires?

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 роки тому

      That’s an exterior load bearing wall. I used 2x6s building it so I would have only been able to notch it 1 1/3”. That would have been my last resort. If it’s in interior wall or non load bearing I might have looked at that option a little closer.

    Why not just use cable grommets run your hdmi and power up behind the wall and out behind the tv? If you need more outlets behind the tv you can. Use a stubby extension. If it’s because you can’t run high voltage power cables behind the wall, aren’t you still doing that with this kit? Thank you.

    • @CiscoSal
      @CiscoSal  2 роки тому

      Most places to meet code you can’t run a power cable though the wall like that. The cable that comes with the kit is in wall rated romex. So it’s nice it comes with everything you need in the kit and it looks nice and clean when your done
