But I remember listening to CHVRCHES during the greatest moments of my life. 13 hour train ride to Ottawa staring out the windows listening to them. Brings a tear to a my eye... the mere thought of how different life is compared to 5 years ago. Before the heartbreak, before the hurt, before the jaded. Brings me back to when I was 22 and 23, wide-eyed and heart open. Thank you CHVRCHES for making me feel something that has been eternal. It started with this song, and I am still here.

Having grown up with the music of the 70s & 80s, this group certainly strikes a nerve. Techno with heart is hard to pull off and they do it well. It's not superficial and you can feel the Go Go's, UB40, and the numerous solo girl acts that swamped the airwaves 30 some years ago. Pretty good shiznit right there, brother.
If you like this, then you should give M83 i try. Same vibe, but with a lot more experimental sounds. Especially midnight city and we own the sky are good.

The feeling of driving through those French highways and Italian curvy roads were something of unmatched and unique type of vibe in Forza Horizon 2 with Horizon Bass Area or Pulse with bangers like this one. RIP FH2. Servers apparently shut down a while ago and game got delisted too. I do got a disc copy but yeah, it’s still sad to see the plug for a game I loved a lot and still reminisce being finally taken off. ❤️

To me this song feels like it's about a girl who has an old soul and is way ahead of her time and generation which isolates her from the world. She hasn't yet found her place and it leaves her stuck in her own mind feeling unable to show her insecurities and is to proud to admit her loneliness. So she seeks help from her Mother, a mother that everyone shares, Mother Nature (the earth), a spiritual calling for help... but the sad truth is Mother Nature doesn't stop one from falling and though the earth's nature can give a sort of calm and comfort when escaping the life among people. Mother Nature is cruel as well as it's circle of life still continues, even with our pleads to live a little longer and the basic human needs we seek but may lack, which for her may be due to not fitting in with society and her community.

As they are splitting up and going their separate ways [we've come as far, as we're ever going to get] she's reminding him that it wasn't all bad. The good and the bad bits are what provide them with the emotional resilience to keep their proud heads from falling.
