    It makes sense to use structural screws for the weight of your vanity fair , great tips appreciate your helpful installation.

    Are you telling me only 2 screws are holding that vanity up? that's amazing!! great video. girl power. :)

    • @eltonnoway7864
      @eltonnoway7864 Рік тому

      Not technically. The 2 screws prevent the vanity from pulling away from the wall... it's the 2x4 she attached to the wall studs starting at 1:17 that is supporting the most of the weight.

    Never use longer than 2.5 screws. Pipes and electric are usually in the center of the 2 x 4 , longer than 2.5 screw are more likely to hit and what a surprise...

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  Рік тому +1

      Hi Sam, your recommendation is a good one to prevent damage. For a really heavy vanity like this I have to use structural screws or lag bolts. It’s required by the manufacturer. I also opened up the drywall for added blocking and to see where my screws would line up. 👍🏽

    Thank you and this is a great idea to install floating vanity. Do you need to remove the supporting stud beneath after installation? Or just keep it there?

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, this vanity manufacturer requires plywood beneath the vanity to help support it. I beefed it up to a 2x4 because it’s really heavy. It stays there and it isn’t seen. Thanks!

    Great video. I'm in the process of hanging a floating vanity and I just discovered a bow in my wall and its not straight. Any suggestions on what i do with the gap. It looks like the gap is least 2 inches on one side

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  3 місяці тому

      If a wall is bowed you would typically shim the wall or add furring strips. For a 2” gap make sure you add that length to your screw(s) so it’s properly secured to your studs. Thanks for the question! These situations come up. Good job ahead!

    On more question.. if I have metal studs, what's the best solution? Should I open the wall up and put in a few wood studs tied to the metal studs? Or is there another solution to just tie directly into the metal studs?

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  4 місяці тому +1

      If you can tie into your studs that’s a good solution. If not you can add lateral blocking. This vanity manufacturer requires lateral blocking because it’s really heavy. Also I used 4 structural screws to mount it.

    • @samalldredge3536
      @samalldredge3536 4 місяці тому

      @@DaruDhillon ok great, I think I'll add some lateral blocking. My vanity is probably about a third of the size of yours, and I may as well make sure it's secure 🙌 Thanks again!

    what type of corner brackets did you use?

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  7 місяців тому

      These corner brackets came with the vanity. The vanity is really heavy so I used 4 screws to mount the unit. They are similar to the corner brackets used at IKEA for their vanities or kitchen cabinets.

    Nope, I don’t like seeing that “strengthening” 2x4 at the bottom side! Did I miss something?

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  Рік тому

      Having a bottom support is required by the vanity manufacturer. A plywood base support was included with the vanity but I beefed it up with a 2x4. Having a bottom support is common in vanity installations and many cabinet manufacturers will want it installed or you will void your warranty. Is there a reason why you don't like having a base support?

    • @DaruDhillon
      @DaruDhillon  Рік тому

      I’m using structural screws which are commonly used in construction in place of lag bolts. You’ll see them used on decks to fasten ledger boards and in other structural framing in larger sizes. You must have a really sturdy bed! 💪🏽🛏️
