I was born and spent the first 23 years of my life on Sacramento Ave. near Belmont Ave. on the Northwest side. I was raised a Cubs fan and even visited the "confines" of Wrigley Field several times. Now that I'm in Norfolk, Va, I'm still a Cubs fan. Congratulations to the Cubs for winning the World Series in 2016. I hope that they can win more. I'll never forget that final out. I was at work and all of us nursing staff watching the game. Had anybody died, our celebratory screams would have woken up the dead.
When the Indians tied it, I curse out the TV and everything else. Went to the kitchen, took a couple of shots of whiskey and drank a beer, Then my other half said ":There's a rain delay". I went "Oh great, God really killing me slowly". What I didn't know was that it helped The Cubs to regroup and get back to what they were do best. Those final outs were nerve wrecking but when Kris Bryant grabbed that ball and threw it to Rizzo on first base, I just scream and cried at the same time. ,y partner who couldn't watch said "did they won", I went "fuck yeah The Cubs won & they're finally the Champs". I stayed up all night watching coverage from all the Chicago TV stations, ESPN & listen to local radio shows. I wanted to go to Wrigley but it was so late. I went the next day bought my championship hat & hung around Wrigley Field with thousands of fans hanging out. It was a beautiful feeling.
Games 6 and especially 7 required a lot of beer for me. I watched the games at my favorite restaurant in Chicago DuPage County suburbs because I didn't want to watch at home alone. I got a motel room for both nights so I wouldn't drive after games. I still felt effect of beer the following morning, but not for long.
This was the best Birthday Present I could've ever asked for, happening just two days before it. And to have my Birthday declared Cubs World Champions Day in Illinois with a parade to boot..... awesome!!!! :)

I saw my first Cubs game at wrigley field in 1968, when I was four years old. My grandmother, grandfather, uncle and father raised me to be a Cubs fan, all four of them went to heaven before they could see the Cubs win the world series. Seeing the Cubs win was a very emotional moment for me 😢😅.

Everyone caught a huge break with the unseasonably warm weather in Cleveland and over weekend in Chicago, especially game 3( near 70 and wind blowing out). The weather, was cold and damp in Cleveland for games 1 and 2, however, and it was just as unpleasant in Chicago if series opened there. I think Cleveland is a worse weather city than Chicago. Last week of October and beginning of November is too late to be playing baseball in northern cities. But TV networks and big money rule, plus MLB gets away with it a lot because there's a lot of warm weather teams and teams with retractable domes. They're getting away with it this year too, with Atlanta and Houston. If Boston had won AL, games 6 and 7 would be in Boston Nov. 2 and 3, played at night of course. Perfect invitation for nasty weather.

My parents were lifelong fans of the Cubs having lived and grew up in and around Hammond, Indiana. They both passed away in the middle of the season so they never got the chance to see the Cubs make history.
