2 amazing F-18 Finnish Air Force Hornets leaving RAF Waddington in low visibility no problem for these guys they take off and the ribbons make them come alive true TCS action well done Nikos and Ted
@@GlennMichaelHasting Finnish Hornets are all F/A-18C/D MLU2+. Bigger engines, far better radar etc. than on ”legacy Hornets”. Fairly close to Super Hornet internals.
...or all year around in england, germany - denmark or hollandistan. This weather is not special for any pilot. Not even for finns. There are all these little buttons and screens in the airplanes, you know - instrument takeoff is something a trained cat can do. Instrument landing is the somewhat more interesting bit :)
No, fuel dumping is different. Fuel Pressure and the way fuel expands in heat can create a build in pressure and vents out. This is normal. If the fuel pressure expands, it needs somewhere to go
FiAF Hornets rarely go full burner unless it's operational intercept. Reduces fuel burn and lowers noise especially since FiAF bases are located near population centers (bases are part of civ airports). How that impacts the F-35 once it enters service I have no idea.
Such an breathtaking aircraft to see. Wish we saw more of the F18. Get them Ribbons, superb. You learn something new everyday with a Ted Video!! 2 towers at Waddington? Do they serve different purposes 🤔❤🇫🇮🇺🇲🇬🇧 Exercise collaboration with US built fighters. Nice to know we all work together for the good of many.. 🤙👍🫡
Oii oiii Dan 🤙🏼thanks man. I think one of the towers is an old one and made redundant I think. Will have to look into that but it is not unusual to have a new tower built to replace an older one. I think Lakenheath RAPCON is a new one Ooohhh yeah
I am old enough to remember Simo Hayha. I am proud of your country and people. Good luck.
I think they are happy to work with Legendary RAF. regards from Finland.
Another great capture of the Finnish F18 Hornets.... beautiful ribbons on departure....Oooh, yeah...
Ooohhhhh yeah thanks Jimmy
Nice catch! Gotta love the Hornet.

Always nice to see the Legacy Hornets. Becoming increasingly rare in U. S . inventory. Carry on . . .

@@UserDefaultEurope Well, soon they'll be replaced by the latest block F-35:s...

f18 finally joining the ribbons club with the eurofighter typhoon(its tail produces a lot of that) ,and the f15 and 35.
The smoke “ribbons” you get from a Typhoon’s tail is fuel venting
@@TedConingsby ohhhhh.so basically fuel dump?

Although the squadron is called Karjalan lennosto for historical reasons, the squadron is not in Karelia, but Savo, Finland.
👍👍
Ribbons...you have to wrap it before sending it 😊
f 35,f15 and phoons tend to send it before wrapping it 😂😂
Welcome to NATO, Finland.
Welcome to Finland, NATO.
I wonder why the first F18 rolled most of the way down the runway in dry power then blipped in the burner for just a few seconds prior to rotation?

Maybe they were heading back home and didn't want to waste fuel inside those external tanks.
Normal weather... for Finn
