The hornet is a carrier plane so it's actually designed to be slammed hard on the deck. If you feather it too much, the flight computer may not always register it as a landing...

Hornet is such a beautiful plane. I'd be sad to see them age out of use if it wasn't going to be replaced with the F-35.
