Chinese Street Food in Chengdu is some of the best in China. My parents came on a family holiday to travel in China with me and try the best street food in Chengdu. We tried a lot of Chinese snacks and Chinese street foods together, and my parents loved the insane spicy food! I brought them to a famous "fly restaurant", meaning a restaurant with apparently low cleanliness but incredibly delicious food.

Street food around the world is so diverse, and I'm so happy to be living here in Chengdu, China, and to be able to show my parents some of the best street food in China! Foodrangin' is so fun! Chinese cooking is incredibly delicious wherever you go in China, with 8 major Chinese cuisines to try, amazing Chinese restaurants in Chengdu, and to be able to travel China to taste it all is truly amazing. The spicy Sichuan food is out of the world! Walking into the kitchen to watch the chefs cook the Sichuan cuisine is always fun, I really recommend coming here!
Here are the food locations:
The "fly restaurant" on the street in the north of Chengdu:
Name: 陈氏凉粉 (chén shì liángfěn)
Address: 成都市金牛区洞子口福德路42号 (Chéngdū shì jīnniú qū dòng zǐ kou fú dé lù 42 hào)
The enormous Sichuan spice market:
Name: 五块石干杂批发市场(Wukuaishi Ganhuo Shichang)
Address: 成都市金牛区蓉北商贸大道一段 (Chengdu, Jinniu District, Rongbei Shangmao Road, 1st setion)
The main Chinese park/garden is at People's park. You can come to the Peoples park subway stop.

HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!

The Food Ranger nice and awesome video
Happy New Year ! New and awesome adventures !
The Food Ranger your parents are Canadian. How did you get to China?
It’s so nice to see you’re parents have an amazing spirit and attitude I’m sure they’re proud of you but you gotta be pretty proud of them for being good ppl who raised a good son. God bless on your many travels
Your parents look so young, they actually look like your friend
you communicate with locals so fluently. Your parents must be very proud.
I think it's funny how freaked out the locals are, they can't concentrate on his questions because they are too busy talking about how good he speaks lol.
声音听不得批评的 lolllllll his accent if off but that's to be expected
@@dancingtroll3823 The intonation is way off sometimes, too, but the important thing is he can get folks to understand him. Ultimately that's all that matters.
@@VictorMinchihLeeeveryone will have an accent when learning a second language
This is the only channels where the vids are 10-15mins long, and I watch them all and still wants more.
Your parents are great haha you and your dad share the same expressions!!
He gets the "MMMMMMM!" From his Dad
Shawn Blazington TV but is not that loud!!
Probably at home he'd have given some stiff competition to Trevor!
I caught that too...
I definitely was not expecting that reaction at the end
I like how his dad also does the signature Trevor "MMMM"
the locals show you so much respect when you speak. I envy your dedication to their culture. have a happy new year!
Now I can see why Trevor turned out to be the man that he is. Just simply great parenting.
I can see mum and dad are so proud of him. Happy new year to you Trev and mum and dad.
Hi Mom and Dad! We love your son and his vids!
Shout out to Food Ranger's parents. Good people.
Your Mother is so sweet, I can see where you get your kindness and cheer from. Loved the video, you brighten my week!
Lovely family, your parents must be so proud. I enjoyed so much that I watched twice.
+Miss Rose Hi Miss Rose! Wow that is so nice to hear!
Your parents are awesome. Cant wait to see more videos with them!
Man I really like your videos! Gotta give credit to the person handling the camera too. He/she does a great job capturing the moments perfectly and your editing is great. I enjoy your videos very much!
When you ask 这个可以吃吗 means: is this safe to eat. People will get confused. Next time say 来一份(lai yi feng) instead of 可以吃吗(ke yi chi ma) or 可以吃一个(ke yi chi yi ge) makes you more authentic and legit.
lmfao seriously sounds like he used a translator
I think its great for him to ask 这个可以吃吗? It means" Is it eatable?" In Chinese food it's actually not everything you see in a dish eatable. For example, you won't eat the cavings in some dishes and won't eat the spicy peppers in Chongqing Spicy Chicken (歌乐山辣子鸡).
Dongbo Xiao bruh.. it translate to that but it doesnt mean that. its like saying:its bomb doesnt mean theres a bomb yo. it meant its so dayum gooooood.
Steven Wang stop hating on xiao bao bao
It also means "can I eat this one?"
Not only asking whether the food is safe to eat but also asking the permission from the sellers
It’s really nice to see your parents are also so open-minded and enjoyed the food! ☺️
They don't look old enough to be your parents, lovely people happy new year bro x
What a fantastic video with your parents. Awesome.
Your parents are great! Your videos have now made my add Chengdu to my bucket list.
+Tim Hi Tim! It's so great to hear that!
I've been in Chengdu for 3 years now.. The food culture is definitely something worth checking out.. however some habbits of chinese may baffle the western world.. china is not the cleanest place, but the people are nice nonetheless

Whats were Trevor's first words?: mmhhhhhh
Yun Chun No they were "Tai hao le!" :D
+nyhyl on his first breastfeed he said "mhhhhhh Tai hoe Le" xD
Yun Chun LOLLLLLLL
Some old Chinese tale will tell it this way: Upon tasting his first breath after coming out of his mother’s womb, he said: "This tastes like crap", upon which began his eternal quest for the most delicious food in the world ...
Yun Chun spicy and nutty!

Muchas gracias, algún día iré a China.
welcome*\(^o^)/*
To those who like Chinese food: I recommend you to watch the documentary "A bite of China".😃😃😃
Will do
Great video, kudos to your hip parents for trying everything, great they liked durian
Glad you and your parents are having a wonderful time there.
Tai hao le! I'd love to see more vids with your parents. :)
Depending on the family, the kids do have a say in the match up. Tradition is slowly changing.
Yes. The parent try to make the initial connection but it's up to their kids to decide to date, accept, or reject. The kids work in the cities, parents can't force anything.
Why not use Tinder? :D
Your parents are lovely, I wish I could visit too! You don't see many people who are disabled, using wheelchairs out and about in much of China unfortunately. I have very fond memories of eating Twice Cooked Pork as a kid, my best friend was Chinese and I used to eat at her house quite regularly. Her family were the only Chinese people in 35 miles around us then.
Thanks for another terrific video! I'm sure your parents had a wonderful time and are very proud of you!
Nice video ! Your parents are like vloggers themselves and really rise to the occasion with their enthusiastic reactions and commentary !!
this guy needs a cable show or at least a show on pbs or something
NASTEfilms
hes not on tv? i guess i thought these videos were From tv show. wow
This is a cool reflection of the impact of diversity in Canada and how it has enriched people like these folks.
Tenzin Thinley how does this reflect diversity in Canada? They are Canadians who bought tickets to China.
Tenzin Thinley how does this reflect diversity in Canada? They are Canadians who bought tickets to China.
The food ranger has cultural competency, he moves with ease and his language skill helps but he is also received immediately as someone familiar by the people. There is very little cultural barrier when he talks to the locals. Such competency usually comes from living in a diverse environment and from good parenting.
Tenzin Thinley completely agree. The number one gift a parent can give his child is traveling and experiencing different cultures. It makes you open minded and respectful of cultures. You appreciate the world far more.
The language skills is a big bonus .
Absolute nonsense statement
his dad looked really nervous before trying to food
• • • • both her parent feels so uncomfortable but he is so exciting
Your parents are so cute. Love that they enjoyed the food and culture. Especially the durian!
Omg!!! My favorite so far!!! Your parents are adorable!!!!!
Woah.. Your parents are so adventurous!
you cant be more proud of your son!
Well done Food Ranger. So enjoyed this vid. Lovely seeing yr. Dad & Ma enjoying their time there.
Love your videos showing food, people, streets, local dialect, etc. in my hometown. Please post more :-)
I know it's for the video but he speaks so formally to his parents! Like they're tourists not family HAHA
这样的解说很好啊,客观公正
Chinese sun An english comment and you reply Chinese to... ok... well that's not rude :')
是的
yeah and your comment isnt rude either ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The next time it does not happen again : D
Where do your parents live? They know how to use chopsticks perfectly!
Watching you and your parents go Mmmmmmmm! at the same time is great lol.
Amazing Trevor, this is my favorite video from you, great to meet your folks!

你的视频在中国的斗鱼TV里被侵权播放,并且有人靠非法播放你的视频赚钱,请你重视咯
Hope your parents are very proud of you! You do an amazing job and we can tell you're an amazing person!
Trevor, love your parents..They proper rock!!! Get then involved in more videos
your parents looks very young ^^
His dad is adorable!
The Food Ranger, I have a question, how did you learn to speak Chinese so well, through an online program, school, or just by traveling to China so much?
Amazing video by the way!!😉
Because he has a Chinese girlfriend, a girlfriend/boyfriend is the best teacher for learning foreign language.
He studied in Canada for 5 years
Zajd 36 he learned Chinese in Vancouver Canada while he was in university
I don't know why i am being such a negative nancy, but I find his tone's to be quite poor. I am not a native Chinese speaker, but I have been learning it for two years in university and my professor puts a huge emphasis on tones that the Food Ranger seems to overlook. In a given context, you can make it work without tones, but for anyone looking to become an excellent Chinese speaker, a foundation of tonal accuracy (even if a pain in the ass), is absolutely necessary, and the food ranger would essentially have to re-learn ALL of his vocabulary in order to use tones well--which would be a lot of work and quite disheartening.
Trevor, you are the spitting image of your mom. I love the way she reacted to the Durian. It was so genuine.
wow! it's so nice to see family bonding and your parents LOVE durian!!!
You are so lucky to see the real China!
Love your parents.....good for you!!!
"The Food Ranger" You really have a very good and very interesting videos! Keep up the good job!
Chinese food=corona vir.
That was awesome that your parents enjoyed the durian so much!
How great your parents came out. Im also so happy they liked the durian.... I love it too. Thanks for sharing your adventures with me Trevor.
12:43 the kids do have a say in marrying or not. They can refuse. This is not forced arrange marriage. The parents are just helping their kids out dude.
danpt2000 actually they don’t..
Kary Ordonez yes they do this isn't ancient China lmao
I wish my mother forced me to marry her niece, brother's daughter even if it meant no large dowry.
Trevor, really. You just knew I'd be having beans on toast tonight, and you bring out this. Have a heart man!!! LOL😁👍
You're an awesome Host! what an awesome experience!
