- Today we finally flashed the MK7 GTI to Stage 2 w/ Unitronic+ software. I am so happy to go with Unitronic for my software tune. The process is super easy, quick, and most of all so much fun. I literally cannot stop smiling while driving my car now.

Unitronic Corporation Inc. I want the stage 2 but I have the cts turbo downpipe does that matter that it’s not unitronic . Cause it also recommends the unitronic intake which I have the cts intake as well.

What I have appreciated and enjoyed with about the Unitronic stage-1+ on my mk7 is the linear hp and lb.ft. curves compared to stock. In other words although #'s went from 210/310 hp and 258/345 ft.lbs which are considerable, the #'s are attained at close to factory - very smooth - linear and sustained throughout the rev-range no crazy early peak and drop-offs which means early boost, mid-range punch and top-end pull are freaking impressive. That tune combined with a Stage2 DKM clutch have been a genuine game changer. It's not just how fast it'll go...it's how fast it'll get there... Keep'er between the lines people. 🤟🚘
Hey glad I found this! Just bought a MK7 GTI w Unitronic Stage 2 and came w the Uniconnect cord so think I'll get the software license transfer believe it's $150 and I need to de-tune to Stage 1 to pass state emissions (S2 turns off 2-4 OBDll readiness monitors) and I'm not very handy w technical stuff so it put me at ease to see that's it's literally as easy as plug & play. Maybe Stage 1 will work for a while but Stage 2 is just too much fun! Cheers and hope you're still enjoying the car & tune!
You may have to get a spacer for the o2 sensor still
Stg 1 mk7 GTI passing thru here. You were right about the exhaust sound, I noticed the sound was different than stock tune right after the tune. Same shifting paddle extension, good taste!

Stage 1 apr 93 high torque mk7 gli here! Your first reaction after putting it in sport mode was my first reaction too. At first it felt like alott more then factory. If i floor it below 60 traction control lights up. Its got a lot in the low range(less then 100mph) and it holds its own up high but theres not ad much a difference(140 pluss). It starts too feel stock after about a week of driving. Well atleast for me but im abit enthusiastic and dont do much low speed pulls. Actrually still havent launched it since tuning it but everytime i do a 2nd gear pull it definently still inpressises me; it gets squirly(which is why i havent used launch control). Looking too get a dsg tune and then hopefully my turbo blows up so i can justify going stage 3:)😂

Actually you dont really need any hardware requirement for stage 2 because im running my scirocco 2.0tsi on stage 2 unitronic tune. The only hardware upgrade was just the Cold Air Intake from unitronic. I can guarantee the tune can adapt to your car condition whether it has a downpipe or not. Id been running on stage 2 for more than 3 years now. And they are awesome!
Im sure it can adapt, I just went with what Unitronic told me the required hardware was for the tune which was a downpipe and the intake is optional, at least for the Mk7 Gti's
Van Dawn so your saying I can go stage 2 with out downpipe and it won’t hurt the car but you still get some power gains just get the cold air intake and it won’t set no codes sorry for the question I’m new to this can ya help I have 2013 Jetta GLI 2.0 turbo with APR stage 1 with AWE track back exhaust I didn’t go with the DSG tune yet
@@robertm.w2323 you should probably still get the downpipe, I got the CTS catless and it wasnt expensive and sounds great. it states on the website to get the downpipe with the software
Allen Yoho thanks for the reply yeah I’m in Chicago I took my car to the Vw dealer they told me if I go stage 2 I won’t pass emissions I’d have to take the car in and put the stock stuff back go pass emissions then go put the down pipe back on and flash back the tune is that true ?
@@robertm.w2323 not true, as long as you run a catted down pipe you should have no issues with PA emissions.

However, in Unitronic webpage i couldnt find my carmodel wich is a 2019 VW POLO GTI with the 2litre 200bhp/320nm engine.
Are they called something else in the US maybe? If u find the time, could you plz link me so i may find the support for it and ill buy the cable pack. Thanx a bunch in advance!

I have a 2014 GLI. I got a Unitronic Stage 1 from the guy in Huntington Beach, CA which I love. Looking to get their upgraded bar/plate intercooler, possible charge pipes, USP Motorsports cold air intake - then IS38 turbo and Stage 2 tune. Lots of people dig my P3cars digital display. Just want a sweet sleeper car.

Great video. Right now I want stage 1 with unitronic and have been contemplating lately about going to Stage 2. Of course the only downside is I live in California and the smog laws are lame. However there are people out there who tell me that there's a way to work around California strict smog laws.
I say go full send on stage 2 it's way worth and you'll look back and be like why was I even considering stage 1. Hope all works out with the smog laws tho! Hit me up and let me know how it all goes. Also unitronic is having a great sale for Black Friday just saying 😃
I'm in Cali too.i've been told to get a good catted downpipe that uses HJS Euro 6 compliant catalyst like AWE Tuning or NEUSPEED Downpipe which won't give a check engine light even on the stock tune. That's the way I'm going. Plus you don't want CHP to pull you over, see no cat and immediately tow your car away. Stage 2 is the max I'm going + DKM STAGE 3 twin disc clutch which i hear is stock like,no noise and is rated for a max of 600+ Torque.
Allen, do yourself a huge favor and get the Uni TCU tune. It does for the Dsg what the flash did for your cars performance. I currently have an mk7 with stage 1+ and stage 1 TCU. The drive mode on the dsg is actually good and doesn’t have the car shifting up at 2krpms regardless of input. The dsg responds as it should have from the factory. I’m about to go stage 2 on both as well.

What charge pipes were you looking at in the beginning of the video? Those are something I want to get with my intercooler and do all of that at one time.......also I had a very similar reaction to my car when I first got to floor it haha.

most likely, I think im gonna start doing some aesthetics to the car first, wheels, coilovers, etc and then im gonna go looking for more power so ill upgrade the intercooler, charge pipes, stuff like that next year
@@AllenYoho yeah all I need is an intercooler and charge pipes so I think I'll just finish the power upgrades and keep looking like a stock gti. Then I'll finally dedicate some money to the exterior.

What headlights do you have? I just went stage1 w/IE, going to lower it and do some cosmetics (headlights) until my clutch goes and forces me to stage2 :) Most headlights i’ve seen are sold out, i like the look you’ve got! Send them over!
Getting my stage 2 right now
I have a question ? I own a Ford Fiesta st and people say they have stage 2 tune for their exhaust I believe , and it crackles and pops , how do I get to that stage ? I’m confused about that part
Staging a car refers to the engine tune. Certain tunes can be set to make the car run rich or lean to create popping and crackles. For example I have a stage 2 engine tune for regular or like I currently have a stage 2 "overrun" file that allows the exhaust to pop on deceleration and higher revs. Check for tunes that offer a crackles option. I've heard good things about stratified for the ST.

So a stage 1 APR has more torque tan stage 2 Uni) Glad I went with APR
APR is also more expensive with greater risks
APR high torque file has more torque, but has a touchy throttle tip in and falls on its face around 5500rpm. The Uni has less torque, much more linear throttle response and pulls hard to redline. DSG tune is a must to truly enjoy. Not knocking APR. I had them on my mk6. I wanted the ability to tune and uninstall from home. APR can’t offer that.
so how is the tune holding up? any codes? how is the dsg liking it? i’m in between this and cobb. seems like if you don’t want any custom tunes then this would be the route!
Currently sitting at 44k miles and zero issues with the tune. I ended up adding the crackle tune and love the sounds. I ran the car for about 2k miles before adding the dsg tune. It really helps the overall drive of the car but car handled well without it.

you should be able to still pass emissions, being that there is still a cat in place you should have no issues.
How is the stock turbo holding up?
No issues, makes all the best noises currently at 70k miles
Your Unitronic tune:
339HP crank - 12% (trans loss) = ~298WHP
I have an APR Stage 1 (ECU & TCU)
360HP crank - 12% = ~316WHP
I can’t wait to go APR Stage 2!
APR Stage 1 (91) is 281 WHP on their Dyno... 305 at the crank. Their stage 2 estimate on 91 is 295 at the wheels and 320 at the crank. If you're going to quote numbers at least get it right.

no you can run any downpipe you like, I am running a CTS catless downpipe
Does the tune change your rpm limit to 74k? Cause it’s in the description that it does, but people are saying I must get the DSG tune, would you know by chance?
If you have a dsg transmission and want to go stage 2, you’ll need the dsg tune as well. Highly recommend it, if you don’t youll destroy your transmission

Reliability has been great, this is just an ecu tune to stage 2. Since then I have changed maps to an overun/crackle tune as well as a stage 2 DSG tune

Apr has a tune. Only company that had iti have a 1.8t Jetta and it's a non man. I know they have tunes for mqb 1.8t tho

If you guy Stage 1+ you will get stage 1 included as well. If you decide later to upgrade to stage 2 it will cost $100 additional to upgrade

No, you can jump straight to stage 2 as long as you have a high flow down pipe

Yeah it would, but if it was completely stock you should probably start with 1 or 1 + but that's still going to add around 80hp

You don't have to but it's strongly recommended. Car drives much better now that I've installed the stage 2 dsg tune

Going more no traction with my no traction GTI that already had more torque than a FWD car can handle, but I want moooore so it will be mmoooooore annoying to drive. I used to own one of these shitboxes, wish there were a way to get google to stop putting these videos in my feed.
