  • For this project of mine I demonstrate how I changed the seals in the tilt cylinders for the front loader on the backhoe. They would leak down over time and very quickly with a scoop of dirt in the front. This fixed my issue and was not a bad job at all to do. Hope this can help.

Great video!!! How did you remove the locking screw in the piston?

Hi, I am installing the same kit on my machine. I have a question on the cap wiper seal. I believe I saw it on the workbench at 6:26 quickly, orange in color. It has cone shaped or beveled flap and I am not sure if that side faces inside or outside. Those seals disintegrated on disassembly. I am having a terrible time getting that one in as I don't have a tool and my part doesn't compress well. Also do you know what size screw and thread works to pull the pin out on the inside plunger. Thanks for any help you can provide.

That particular seal goes in with the piece sticking outward and gripping around the rod as it goes in and out. If you lay the seal on the bench, it’s goes in with the seal facing outward. If you look at some of the other cylinders you can see how it’s orientated on there. With the lock pin, it usually came out with me no problem with a magnet or a little pick or something. I believe I didn’t have a screw to fit so I used an easy out on one just to grab a hold of it and pull it out. How this helps!

@@fixinandfishin8580 Thanks for getting back to me. I ended up ordering another seal kit that had a different seal in it, the first one I ordered, it seemed to be missing entirely leaving me only with the orange one left to use. After watching your video again, it looks like you ended up not using the orange seal. Is that correct? It looks like both the seals you used in the gland were both blue. Let me know if you don't mind and thanks again for your help and the video.

That’s right, the kits sometime give you more seals than you need. You are right about that. Yes I believe there was an orange one leftover once I finished the job with this cylinder.

@Fixin' and Fishin' Thanks so much for your video and replies. Rebuilt 3 cylinders so far and all working well. Helps when you have the kit with the right parts, Thanks again!!!😁
