- One of the most important parts of your machine are the hydraulic rams. Over time, the seals and in the ram can degrade, causing leaks and decreased performance.
Here's how to repack a JCB 3CX ram:
1. Remove the old seals and packing
2. Clean the ram and surrounding area
3. Install new seals and packing
4. Test for leaks
5. Repeat as needed
This is a vital part of keeping your machine running like new. Don't wait until it's too late - repack your ram today!

Ah , the oil seal replacement, I’ve replaced most of the seals on my old girl , the age old problem of breaking the seal on the collar, many a folk have broken and bent spanners ,pipe extension and the like getting them of , I’ve always been a bit shy of heat , good to see you do it well , I learnt a trick from a old timer , he said to me “ boy I can’t see what all the trouble is about , just tap round the edge with a hammer and he I’ll “ come un dun “” , so I tried it , and it did ! , but I did have one ram which was really tight , so I rattled it with a kango hammer and that one went . 👍 must say well done to Claire for lending a hand even though it got greasy, and as always great filming, keep going with the good work you both

Hi Hartley! Yes, I have replaced a few ram seals on this 3CX. Some needed heat like this one, some I managed with a big pipe extension. I may try the hammer on the next one if I can't get it with an extension. Claire doesn't mind giving a helping hand when I need it. I think she enjoys it on the quiet😊 Thanks for watching!

Hi Martin, the parts were from my local JCB dealer, some parts are similar price to after market parts, so genuine JCB parts and great customer service from T C Harrison (Sheffield)
