I still think the best light gun was the one used on the Space Gun arcade game back in the 90's. Accurate, weighty and the pump action feature for the different ammo types was so satisfying. Awesome game that doesn't get enough credit.
Not to be "that guy", but Space Gun... like T2 and RevX, weren't light guns. They were accurate because they were basically mounted analog controls that looked like guns. They were completely different tech than like a Time Crisis game.
This is going to be a must have for me when I get my gaming PC set up. Gonna emulate some of the old light gun games I can no longer play thanks to ditching my last CRT.
My 27 inch Sony Trinitron is still going strong from 1998 when that dies tho I won't be getting another one but while it's still kicking I'm loving using the namco guncon 1 with some ps1 games :D
One thing about the light guns. There are lot of folks who complained that their light gun does not work, or not working correctly (accuracy problem), despite the fact that they're of course, using a CRT TV. Some of them very hi-end CRTs. What one has to understand is: When the light guns were designed & during the peak of their popularity, they were meant to be used on non-flat CRT screen, IE the curved ones. Bottom line is: the top of the line (HD Ready) & flat screen CRT may not work, or work as it supposed to. Try switching to bog standard, average quality, non-flat screen. Unless the gun itself is faulty, it may resolve the issue. Unless you have the gun for the wrong region (PAL on NTSC & NTSC on PAL, 50/60Hz). Cheers, everyone!👋🥃
These are no doubt really cool and I am really glad to see this project out there (you can also use the plans to build your own Gun4IR), but at that price range I was able to buy a nice big Sony CRT for far less and for now I just use that when I want to play lightgun games. Maybe one day I'll spring for it or see if I can build them for a better price but for now I just can't justify it. Thanks for the great review though!
If you willing to make it yourself it’s not too bad. I made my hun from a $8 toy gun with full recoil and rumble and I think the parts were less then $100. My kids actually prefer this over the larger and heavier guns
@@robbiejmsn1 the software isn’t open source. You pay for the license and you will be given a set of instructions to build this using any gun. I just use a cheap toy gun instead of 3D printing one

The best lightgun experience I've ever had was House of the Dead III in arcades with the big black pump action SPAS shotguns... If I could have any arcade machine in my house it'd be a toss-up between House of the Dead III and Star Wars: Episode I: Pod Racer (with the fully articulated moving podracer chasis).
This company really feels like a couple of hobbyist who have cobbled together a great light gun from parts they have acquired but don’t really have a solid business together yet…. Yet. Other light gun companies have actually put together a real supply chain. Irregardless, it’s nice to see something happening.

@@WickedGamerCollector Yes, that's why I thought it would be interesting to see how it works. I think you could give it a try using the Dolphin Emulator since I think it supports the sensor bar and I've bought USB based ones for Dolphin. Have not tried them out.
This is really just another implementation of the Wiimote tech that companies have been using to make light guns since the Wii itself came out. I mean, if it works it works, but was really hoping to see something new.

What has used at least 1 point on each side of the screen? You may be talking about a real arcade which uses light bar up top and light bar on the bottom with multiple points? (Which is not at least 1 point on each side of the screen)
The base IR tech is indeed similar, but the implementation and functionality couldn't be more different 😄 Thanks to the 4 LEDs we achieve an accuracy and response higher than CRT guns themselves. But yeah it's probably not for everyone.
The Gun maker claims the gun is faster then the original light guns for CRT TV's, but as shown in this video, the gun has a massive delay still, and is no better than most other light guns out there for LCD TV's. What a shame. The only light gun I have seen with almost no delay, is the Sinden light gun.
Hello Wicked Gamer. My first ever light gun experience was when I played Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley on the Ending Man Famiclone system (and that was in 1999). Now am wondering if our beloved AliExpress has some decent light guns that one could use on the PC to play games like Aliens or Dead Effect.
I don't know how cheap Sinden is or ... how it plays. Personally I think Gun4ir is not a dirty cheap option only the quality and support from him is 👌 Not going to bother trying something different than Gun4ir super cheap solution if they are out there. Beside Sinden that is one I love to check out.
Both are good, if you don’t mind the installation and removal of the IR sensors on the screen then the Gun4IR is good. If you don’t mind the white border around the screen but can’t stand the “extra hardware” of the Gun4IR then the Sinden is for you.
So is the Ggun1 better option then say the Sinden Gun that uses the camera/white frame around the game? trying to figure out what is the better option, IR vs Sinden, defiantly want the solenoid version

My GUN4IR's total latency is 5ms, which is less than actual CRT guns, well under a frame. The fastest gun in the market. The reason other IR lightgun are so laggy is either bad camera sensor, bad implementation or simply relying on Bluetooth connection and heavy cursor filtering (that always add several frames of lag).

Also as far as price goes yes if you buy from someone else it’s more expensive but if you build your own (which there are videos of how to, I’ve build some myself and purchased from RPEG Electronics, I also have Sindens and lots of different light gun options that have ever came out in the past, not much I haven’t seen) it’s much cheaper and you can choose your gun shell style, rifle, pistol, shotgun

Im wondering if its possible after researching on internet and seeing ppl saying that it wont work cause you need a 480p crt tv 😂 But you show me some plasma tv in the video. Now i am curious. So is it possible? The light guns i have is NPC-106 the ones you showed in the video.
why would you want that poker right next to your eye when you're lining up your shot. if someone who shot real guns brought that up to their face and lined the sites like you're supposed to, don't get a poke in the eye when they first fire. I almost did that on Time Crisis in the arcade. that thing could be dangerous!!!!!

man I m looking back at the light gun games nowdays that i played and missed as well, and was looking for away to go back and play them, i found your video and really peaked my interest more and so I have Questions, first is setting this Gun4ir to Pc easy or a bit hard ? I m already familiar with the emulation stuff on PC but I know that there is another company which also make guns too for modern screens ( Sinden light Guns) but the setup for it is a bit complicated as what i heard from many but the experience is very authentic to the arcades, but its only works on PC and the price of a single guncon is not cheap, so I was wondering if there is another option like gun4ir on your video here, if this one is easier and simple to set up, also can you play this gun on PS3/2/1 console or other consoles using converters or direct plug in play? That would be awesome, If someone tried Gun4IR,please let me know with your thought
No cheap, these are expensive and clunky, need a power supply, plus leds. Pity like the old light guns cannot just plug and play, with nothing needed on your tv. What about supporting a tv 65" plus? And needing a pc sucks. Why can they not come up with tech that uses ordinary tv and consoles? That was the beauty of CRT tvs light guns no pc needed abd cheap. Nothing needed to place on tv or monitor.
Sinden can also work for a projector, just need the correct lighting. Sinden gun is probably easier for projectors as you don’t have to stick the sensors, but you do have to figure out how to setup all the white borders for all the emulators.

Yes the accuracy is even a little bit better than the best CRT lightguns, and have less latency, tested side by side 🙂

No, you are mistaken. It uses the wii cam, yes, but it uses 4 IR Points to track. The Wii only used 2 Points. Its much more precise!!

Also as far as price goes yes if you buy from someone else it’s more expensive but if you build your own (which there are videos of how to, I’ve build some myself and purchased from RPEG Electronics, I also have Sindens and lots of different light gun options that have ever came out in the past, not much I haven’t seen) it’s much cheaper and you can choose your gun shell style, rifle, pistol, shotgun

why would you want that poker right next to your eye when you're lining up your shot. if someone who shot real guns brought that up to their face and lined the sites like you're supposed to, don't get a poke in the eye when they first fire. I almost did that on Time Crisis in the arcade. that thing could be dangerous!!!!!

man I m looking back at the light gun games nowdays that i played and missed as well, and was looking for away to go back and play them, i found your video and really peaked my interest more and so I have Questions, first is setting this Gun4ir to Pc easy or a bit hard ? I m already familiar with the emulation stuff on PC but I know that there is another company which also make guns too for modern screens ( Sinden light Guns) but the setup for it is a bit complicated as what i heard from many but the experience is very authentic to the arcades, but its only works on PC and the price of a single guncon is not cheap, so I was wondering if there is another option like gun4ir on your video here, if this one is easier and simple to set up, also can you play this gun on PS3/2/1 console or other consoles using converters or direct plug in play? That would be awesome, If someone tried Gun4IR,please let me know with your thought

No cheap, these are expensive and clunky, need a power supply, plus leds. Pity like the old light guns cannot just plug and play, with nothing needed on your tv. What about supporting a tv 65" plus? And needing a pc sucks. Why can they not come up with tech that uses ordinary tv and consoles? That was the beauty of CRT tvs light guns no pc needed abd cheap. Nothing needed to place on tv or monitor.

They need to make light guns for ust projectors on the big screen man, maybe they already do? Too lazy to duck duck go it 😂
You can use gun4ir with any Projector screens.. Just put the IRs to the correct spot on your screen

Sinden can also work for a projector, just need the correct lighting. Sinden gun is probably easier for projectors as you don’t have to stick the sensors, but you do have to figure out how to setup all the white borders for all the emulators.

There are tutorials out there that explain how to setup.
Do they work on the og hardware like ps2 and ps3
They do not, only on PC or raspberry pi, things of that nature but not on OG consoles.
