Infernape is actually pretty beast though more like just a bidoof, magikarp, any baby Pokémon, sunkern, feebas there’s much worse for the champion to have.
This channel is so good. It's one of the only Pokemon challenges channels that actually keeps things challenging. The others too often just do "Can you win the game with [insert single Pokemon]", where the solution every time is basically just massive overlevelling. But you actually put in the work to devise really original, impressive strategies.
Check out Jrose11 Channel too, I actually hate challenges where the only solution the host make is leveling up, don't even care to do EVs, fly to TMs and etc.
He may have failed, but he's impressive. I would be weeping in any of those battles, with such pression and stress. Also, he even retried it 4 times, and every loss has to be devastating, so he gets my respect for that.
I understand the soul crushing feeling of being so close and having such a solid strategy only to have an RNG moment like that, but honestly, how many people would be able to almost beat an entire Pokémon Game with only two Pokémon used the entire time and not dying once? Did a casual mono bug run of White myself. It was really fun. This generation seriously has a lot of cool bugs. Marshal was a nightmare though because of Stone Edge.
Honestly kinda love the part of HGs voiceovers where I can’t trust what he’s saying, he started talking about how Fantina’s pokemon went down to 2 more flame wheels before it happened and he’s got me sitting here waiting for it to just miss a kill and Infernape to be 1shot

Well infernape is considerably stronger than monferno so in tough battles like the water gym I don't think monfero could defeat it. plus waiting for lvl 46 for a single healing move with a very vulnerable monferno is risky imo

This is possibly my new favorite pokemon challenge video. My favorite part of challenges is to see out-of-the-box strategies that are both creative and also not something you'd normally see, and this run was perfect for that. Strongk monke and pointy cow are champions in my heart.
see, this is why i love living alone. when I saw this was out, i got to say "YOOOOOOOO" out loud without any weird looks also: "sometimes the first gym leader is a complete brick wall to what seems like an otherwise doable challenge" - I feel that lol. I recently started a monolocke of dark types in x. I figured massive regional dex and ofc dark-type starter make it pretty chill. and it IS pretty chill... except for the fact that you have no other teammates besides froakie and no access to any useful TMs or strong moves to sweep viola's surskit and masquerain lmao. i ended up cheating the HC level cap rule there so I could actually do the run, cus I thought it'd be a lot of fun overall (and I was right, easily my most memorable plagthrough of xy yet!)
I like the genuine frustration and I enjoy seeing the shortcomings in the content... makes the effort more endearing knowing that you provided all the struggle

Guess you forgot Rotom Heat is a ghost type in gen 4, meaning that even in Platinum you can't get a full team when doing this.
Pretty sure the type changing with rotom forms started in Platinum, correct me if I'm wrong.

I figured massive regional dex and ofc dark-type starter make it pretty chill. and it IS pretty chill... except for the fact that you have no other teammates besides froakie and no access to any useful TMs or strong moves to sweep viola's surskit and masquerain lmao. i ended up cheating the HC level cap rule there so I could actually do the run, cus I thought it'd be a lot of fun overall (and I was right, easily my most memorable plagthrough of xy yet!)
