I'd love it because then the assault rifle would dominate medium-range instead of the submachine gun. The only issue would be the battle rifle being overpowered.
Lol reach also had a RANDOM starting weapon but nice try kid. Halo reach might be the only FPS game where you can start an engagement by getting the first 2 shots in the back of someones head before they even see you, shoot properly as the devs included, miss 0% of your shots with a perfect 1,2.. 1,2..1 (headshot) pace for the perfect TTK.. and actually LOSE the engagement somefxcking how to someone shooting their gun like this: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in game where devs explained to us how we were supposed to 'pace our shots' with this new and improved bloom mechanic. THEN!!!!! THEN!!!! When they finally pulled their heads out like 1.5 years into the game being out, they updated the DMR to give us reduced bloom and ZB which BOTH! deleted at least 75$ of the viable sandbox of the game because now the DMR was so oppressively good there was no point in using anything other than DMR, SNIPER, ROCKETS, and maybe sword/shotgun if you were going to play like a rat. Fxck halo reach. Im a firm believer that if you grew up being a GOD at halo 1/2 you know that the moment they took H2 off OG xbox live, halo actually died that day. Halo 3 and all other halo games fxcking suck compared to h1/2. Not even close, either. They go backwards with every single release. I dont think 343 nor bungie even knows what the fxck makes halo a good game. Hell, one sneaky dev even had to change H1 to a 3 shot pistol the literal night before they were shipping their build to be put into discs. Was a 7 shot pistol kill before or something. This dev probably made a billion dollar decision without asking anyone else. He basically "MADE" halo an iconic FPS game with that 3 shot pistol.
makes me wonder, while I know people don't want halo 3 to be messed with too much mechanically, I think if they increased the projectiles to 200 I think that would be a nice middle ground and be alot more consistent, at least for high ping players
My issue with Halo 3's bullet weapons is how damn dumb the projectile speed for each bullet weapon is. It's dumb how slow the assault rifle's projectile speed is and how super-fast the submachine gun's projectiles are. I know it was balanced like that for PVP, but in the campaign and even in PVP it is just dumb.
H2 was hitscan if you were within 1 frame of the bullet hitting. Thats why that game felt PERFECT to play back in the day, even with our mediocre as f internet. And why h3 felt comparatively dogshxt to play.
Tick rate will affect controller players a lot bc it will update the Aim Assist more often which leads to more accurate shots with less input. So I can't wait fot the Hit detec update :l
Your friend lost because you had better tactics probably 🤔 its not just about shooting. When you even out the inconcistenies that when the your planning and battle tactics shine.
I really prefer hitscan, however to balance things out, I would either slighty reduce aim assist or reduce bullet magnetism or both. Also if you take a very close look at Halo Infinite's multiplayer trailer, it seams that this idea is the case, well at least the bullet magnetism part.
I liked this. Hit scan was fun in Halo 2 days but projectile seems more modern and requires more skill in order to collect any kills. I hated H3 BR until the NEW MCC Update and when I realized it wasn't lagg that was wrong with the battle rifle and it was infact my misunderstanding of the weapon which was creating the mistakes. I now rule the battlefield with the knew knowledge and it helps create a skill gap as the BXR did in Halo 2 which is great!
Hitscan is infinitely better in a world where not everyone has perfect quality / reliable fiber connections. Were like 10-20 years out from projectile FPS being viable. Hitscan just works. Every time. It makes games feel playab;le and not random. In h3 i probably lost a billion bullets into the aether of xbox live.
@@suntzu6122 bruh I've been playing halo for nearly 20 years. The projectiles are projectiles in halo2. It's so fast that it might as well be hit scan but it isn't. The fact that bullets can bounce off of certain walls in that game gives it away. Technically speaking it's not hit scan. The game isn't shooting a laser from the reticle. The game is actually spawning in a projectile that travels through space at a set rate. You can download tools and modify the speed of these projectiles. From a gameplay perspective since it's almost impossible to see the difference in normal gameplay. Being able differentiate between getting sniped with an AWP on CSGO and getting sniped by a jackal on legendary is hard. But with real experimentation you'll see it.
@@FDGQQW Its both dude. The bullets can still 'fly' AND have the game register shots as hitscan within a range. If the game calculates the distance between players as where bullets would travel in 1 frame, it registers the hit as hitscan. The bullets can still fly, thats fine. But the act of REGISTERING the bullets is hitscan in that range. Which is why if you were pro at H1,2, AND 3; you would feel the difference very starkly between H3 and H2. H2 always felt much more reliable. I prob lost a billion bullets into the laggy @ss xbox live nether on h3. And honestly im 100% sure. This was my fav FPS game in my life.
If halo 3 had hitscan I’d play it more

Same
Reach’s weapons feel so much more responsive.

If H3 was hitscan I would actually play it, projectile was fun for my 10 year old me, but now it just feels horrible
The assault rifle suffers the most from the slow projectile speed in Halo 3.
@@andyfriederichsenThe human turrets are fine.
@@SniperRed0092 The mounted guns on tripods? Yes those were fine and pretty balanced. The AR? Not so much.
Hitscan is the speed of light, like lasers. Everything else is slow vs fast projectile (H2 vs H3).
You know it can be both right?
In h2 if the bullets will hit in 1 frame it gives you hitscan.
@@suntzu6122 show me the line of code that makes this true.

hMmmmMmmm
Bullet magnetism is not Aim Assist
Thank you for actually doing research on hitscan, I got berated by some guy saying hitscan is in halo two and I was stupid for thinking different lol
H2 IS hitscan lol..
@@suntzu6122 download the tools right now and run debugs and experiment with the projectile speeds. You will find that you are wrong.

In most 1v1s we are very very close. Also, the time that this was recorded, H3 was still in a weird state. I kinda wanna do a revisit tbh
Why would you play halo on kbm...
I have my preferences
I have never played Halo on KBM and never will.
Some people do, a really good KBM player is actually has way better aim than a controller ever could dream of
I am your 117th like 👍

yea hitscan isn't the problem. aim assist is the problem obviously.
Halo 2 isn't hitscan

Yes, it is.
