I like playing the patches and using the sequencer and piano roll editing

A lot of people don’t realize the back end architecture for the 8000 8800 is shared by the MC 909 and the Roland fantom series. I thought the learning curve on the MV was gonna be hard, but since I used the keyboard for the better half of five years before I ever touched one, the sequence itself was so easy to get used to because it’s essentially the same thing. Also, that’s one of the few keyboards that also has a mastering section.

One great feature of the MV8000 mix down is that it also records the audio coming in on the audio inputs. So, for example, I sequence chords on my Roland JX3P using the MV and have the audio going into the MV but don't sample it or record it to an audio track, but it still gets included in the mixdown and sounds so good that way. I'm about to buy a multitimbral rack unit (such as the JV2080), so I can have more audio channels included in the mix down.

JV2080 is a beast. Prince had 16 of them loaded with expansion cards.

Can you please take the volume of the background music a bit down? It would be so much better.

I love the MV but it just feels so rushed to me like they rushed to get it out and I had the 8000 and then when they did all the updates they went to the 8800 which had the dedicated buttons and all of the things that I felt that I really needed I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but I really feel like the MV is a great machine, but I just feel so rushed and now that we’ve reached a new point in technology they don’t want to bring a new one out. I don’t know why, but I will say this if they want to put a new MV now I would probably buy it if it was around 1200 as long as they had all the new technology and still sounded the same kept the original engine because if I’m not mistaken, the MV engine is rolling S 700 series samplers if they did that I’ll be down for it

it wasn't rushed; it was before it's time.

@@anticssmantics8446Definitely. The Akai MPC X IS basically their version of an MV. (They added some cool things functionality-wise)but didn’t get the master outputs right. Which means it doesn’t “Sound “ Great. The MV-1 may not be as deep as the MV 8000/8800’s but they sound Better than those newer MPC’s

I have no experience with the earlier firmware but the 3.54 (or whatever it is) for the 8000 doesnt feel 'rushed' imo most things seem logical and streamlined to me... the only thing holding it back is the slowness of preview/loading when things arent in ram. navigating the system, either with monitor or just on the machine seems very much fine to me.
but yea an upgraded MV, just purely hardware wise (not necessarily feature wise) would probably still be competitive in this day and age

there was this guy who was reworking the firmware of the 8800 and he said he got the preview and loadtimes down considerably.. due to some inefective stuff that was the roland firmware. I dont know what came of it.. guy had some features he wanted to add for his purposes but I believe the work process was extensive and perhaps didnt transfer at all to the 8000. risk of bricking your MV obv involved when loading custom firmware like that.. probably not worth it and very much 'own risk'
