Ok Nick!! Im feeling it. I agree...there are tons of people doing the sample/beat cookup/etc vids on the MV...This is a refresing different direction. It would also be cool if exploring maximizing the MV-1 in regards to FULL song making and interacting with other gear. Be blessed bro..
I still have my MV 8000, bought new, I've loved it ever since,my secret weapon, I'm looking at it right now, I'm about to fire it up 😂😂😂
I like playing the patches and using the sequencer and piano roll editing
Can you please take the volume of the background music a bit down? It would be so much better.
@@bakerman3039 Thanx, will do. I thought the same thing once I watched it in the truck.
@@TheRealGordonBluyes a lil loud.
A lot of people don’t realize the back end architecture for the 8000 8800 is shared by the MC 909 and the Roland fantom series. I thought the learning curve on the MV was gonna be hard, but since I used the keyboard for the better half of five years before I ever touched one, the sequence itself was so easy to get used to because it’s essentially the same thing. Also, that’s one of the few keyboards that also has a mastering section.
you have a great voice for this, keep posting!
🙏🏽 & Thanx 4 watching!
well brother i need to know more about this 8000 but first show me someone with a tutorial for the updated mv8000 because i just don't get it. i can at least add patches i can sample record and ovrdub but what the hell else??? I need a logical order to follow then i can go off the beaten path you get me?
Go for the 8800, much better overall
And add the MV-1 if possible
One great feature of the MV8000 mix down is that it also records the audio coming in on the audio inputs. So, for example, I sequence chords on my Roland JX3P using the MV and have the audio going into the MV but don't sample it or record it to an audio track, but it still gets included in the mixdown and sounds so good that way. I'm about to buy a multitimbral rack unit (such as the JV2080), so I can have more audio channels included in the mix down.
JV2080 is a beast. Prince had 16 of them loaded with expansion cards.
I ONLY USE THE CASSETTE MIXDOWN PRESET!!!! FIRE!!!!!!
Casstte mixdown is 🔥but i prefer the phonograph setting
Yeah! I'm also an exclusive cassette mix down.
I love the MV but it just feels so rushed to me like they rushed to get it out and I had the 8000 and then when they did all the updates they went to the 8800 which had the dedicated buttons and all of the things that I felt that I really needed I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but I really feel like the MV is a great machine, but I just feel so rushed and now that we’ve reached a new point in technology they don’t want to bring a new one out. I don’t know why, but I will say this if they want to put a new MV now I would probably buy it if it was around 1200 as long as they had all the new technology and still sounded the same kept the original engine because if I’m not mistaken, the MV engine is rolling S 700 series samplers if they did that I’ll be down for it
it wasn't rushed; it was before it's time.
@@anticssmantics8446Definitely. The Akai MPC X IS basically their version of an MV. (They added some cool things functionality-wise)but didn’t get the master outputs right. Which means it doesn’t “Sound “ Great. The MV-1 may not be as deep as the MV 8000/8800’s but they sound Better than those newer MPC’s
I have no experience with the earlier firmware but the 3.54 (or whatever it is) for the 8000 doesnt feel 'rushed' imo most things seem logical and streamlined to me... the only thing holding it back is the slowness of preview/loading when things arent in ram. navigating the system, either with monitor or just on the machine seems very much fine to me. but yea an upgraded MV, just purely hardware wise (not necessarily feature wise) would probably still be competitive in this day and age
there was this guy who was reworking the firmware of the 8800 and he said he got the preview and loadtimes down considerably.. due to some inefective stuff that was the roland firmware. I dont know what came of it.. guy had some features he wanted to add for his purposes but I believe the work process was extensive and perhaps didnt transfer at all to the 8000. risk of bricking your MV obv involved when loading custom firmware like that.. probably not worth it and very much 'own risk'
I Subscribed 👊🏽
Long-time MV8K user. My main thought about the MV8K sequencer and it getting often misunderstood is: people with at least a basic understanding of music theory are going to find it easier going, because it often uses standard musical notation - crotchets, quavers and so on - particularly in step mode. But it is a beast of a sequencer. I'd still recommend it to anyone regardless of musical training - but just think this might be a main cause of the misunderstandings over the last 2 decades!
Subbed a long time ago. One of my fav channels 🎧☮️
Thanks for watching, and thank you for subscribing!
Is the sequencer on the Fantom X the same as in the MV8000/8800? From seeing videos it looks to be. But I've never had my hands on Fantom X, and have always been curious.
Unfortunately,No it isn’t. Maybe at the MV 8000’s release in 2003 they had similarities because they’re both Linear like Typical Roland Workstations of that era. Once Roland outsourced the development of the MV’s sequencers for the release of the MV 8800 & made the VGA expansion that made the MV’s different from any Roland workstations
🔥 🔥 🔥
The MV-1 is a very flexible & I don't know why some give up on it so easily. Great to see this
just got mine not too long ago updated upgraded and ready however the instructions are confusing because some buttons aren't where they were before the update so it's frustrating and i'm trying not to give up. wish i knew someone near me who owns one so i can get some tips.
I‘ve had (too) many grooveboxes, I still believe the MV-1 has the best and fastest workflow for sequencing & producing, the closest to it being the Maschine/+. Some people don’t like the MV I don’t know why. Maybe the only problem with the MV is Roland’s initial marketing targeted exclusively to rap singers. This machine can do so much more, I make mostly electronic music with it. I wish it had at least a basic vocoder (not sure what this is doing in the SP404mk2 instead 🤔), would sound cool with the music I make. It would also have opened the MV to other genres. I recently acquired Zenology Pro in order to make presets for the MV as they haven’t unlocked partial editing on the firmware as they did on the MC line-up.
Check out the interview Roland did with the developers on verselab and they explain how they went about developing it. They even explain that the screen on the mv1 was top priority for it to be size it is
Wassup MV Mob. Got to get to 1k Subs to Livestream so I’ll be posting Vidz a couple times a week until i hit that goal. Got lots of material planned
Please make video of the real sampler inside the MV-1. Thst is when using the Vocal tracks like a sampler.
Wish I could subscribe twice!
Hey thanks for uploading this video I purchased a broken down old man MV8000 a couple of months ago and I put in my akai Cds and floppy disk from my mpc 2000 and s 2800 I thought the MV8000 would read them but it keeps saying disk not ready has that ever happened to you. And have you ever had to change the pads on your MV8000 sometimes when I hit I get a doubling or tripling effect so I guess my pad bed must be shot. Thanks
Those disk do get corrupted over time but that sounds like a classic issue that happened to me 10 years ago. Try cleaning the heads on the drive, and it may also be a sign that the drive is about to go out. The pad doubling effect is a sure sign that the pad bed needs replacement.
Do you Mix and Master on the Mv1? thanks Happy New Year!
Sup Shades!! Thanx for watching & Yes I Do Mix & Master. (But since I’m no engineer) Recently I made some upgrades to my setup’s signal path & have been learning “How to Mix”. All of this will be broadcast & featured on the Reboot of my channel.
Finally realized the Verselab sampler features are actually in the Vocal tracks. I'm using the Vocal track as the actual sampler. Then loading those samples I make on Vocal track onto the pads.
Question my brotha does the MV 1 have any articulation on the brass and guitar patches?Like finger noises?
Happy NY brother. Lets keep the MV alive and kicking!
Man, I hate that MV-1! I was going to launch my MV channel, but I am too engrossed with the MPC products I have now.
Man I Love my MV’s. The Verselab is very understated but packs alot of utility under the hood. Tune in & find out😊
New year’s Day Livestream !!! Channel ReBoot🎉
man i just got one and i need more info when working on this machine.
More info & Live Sessions coming 2025!
Do you know if zenbeats 3.0 is compatible with the mv-1. I only want the mv-1 if i can edit and zoom into audio samplee on a tablet. Thanks
Nah. Unfortunately its not fully integrated to Zenbeats in that way. However you capture audio from the MV-1 with Zenbeats via usb & then use the sampler in Zenbeats from there 😊
In song mode when i´m listening my track, my bass always overlap in between sections the last note of section 1 continues play when the first note of the section 2 starts and i have a big amount of low end in my track because of that . I´m hopping that someone have the same issue and maybe knows how to fix it ?
... i bagged 3 months max level Roland cloud sub when they had a promo.... Man the amount of Zencore pre-sets you can bag off that is insane!... the MV already had enough inbuilt sounds but dam! now my Roland hardware is stacked!! But Roland should make the MV and ZB integration better.. after all Akai do it with beats? Ableton now do it with Move?
I wish Roland would do more with the MV-1 and Zenbeats... Ableton now have the Move which can export to live or control live... Roland was there first but the integration really isn't that great.... I know they would sell a hell of a lot mor Roland cloud subs if Zenbeats and the MV-1 were tight!
Thank you making this video. To what extent does Zenbeats incorporate gear connected to Verselab like you show in this video?
I've been digging pairing my MC707 with the Verselab. I send MIDI out of the MV-1 to 707 and use the 707 for more layers, more looper tracks and double the sample pool so i can do guitars on the 707 and vocals on the MV-1. Also, I can deep edit synth tones on the 707 and port tones to the MV-1. Fun fully hardware pair.
Shorten the intro it took way to long to start, & put some kick on them drums, other than that beat fire tho
Can you do a video on the vocal track. It's interesting that you could record external instruments on the vocal track and have longer sample time. I believe you could also over dub which make the vocal track interesting and Powerful actually
@@loubang100 Great suggestion dude! I’ve been offline for a it but I’ll be back on it really soon & we’ll get into that part of the Verselab. Its a very interesting but vaguely discussed feature. Thanks for watching
Can you route the audio input from the Fantom to the track you are using to control it and use the track fx before going into the master?
Hey Bruh, can I reach out to you via Facebook Messenger or Instagram? I tried searching for you in the two MV groups I belong to on Facebook but, was not able to find you. I have some specific questions surrounding audio interfaces and the MV I would like to ask outside of UA-cam.
Intro beat is hard asl
May Yahweh bless you brother we love and appreciate you and the videos are awesome 👌 👏 👍🏽
Zenbeats IS a DAW my guy, and appreciat the video, but as an Integra-7 owner, only 8 tracks wont work. The Integra-7 has 16 channels.
Exceptional video. You’ve an amazing depth of knowledge. Thank you for sharing. 👏👏👏. More on mv1 please. 🙏👍👏👏👏👏
An "analog" *digital* audio workstation? LOL, you sure about that? Or did you mean "hardware"?
...Oh, yes Sir...New "Sub"...
Thanx for watching & Thanx 4 the sub🎉🎉🎉
...Peace my Brother & much love from Southern Illinois...Thank you for this ...I have a MV-8800 & I am like a monkey with a coke bottle....I have NO IDEA what I'm doing !!!....I will sit-back,pay attention & SHUT-UP !!!...Again Sir, thank you for your time...
Roland should shoot for Full Zenbeats MV-1 Integration but unfortunately we’ll have to wait . In this video we preview a useful process for on-the-go music creation
Yeah and yet I don't know should I buy a license for Reaper or buy the windows unlock for zenbeats. Because financially I'm not good and if I purchase lets say Zenbeats windows unlock which costs only 49.99 euros then when version 4 drops will it gonna revert to the free version or it will stay for example on version 3.9 until I pay the 25 bucks upgrade? on top of that my PC is not powerful enough (AMD FX-6300 CPU/8GB RAM) .fortunately Zenbeats free runs decently well except some patches of sampleverse , and as of a general DAW only Reaper runs very Well.
Mv is not overpowered, the user is under knowledge, Roland has never updated their products to there capabilities the need to update the UI if there is enough room! Look at the fatom. It is not really a workstation. I am pursuing a VLab to use with my MV!
That nuances of that track is So Dope! The Manley etc.... the ARTs are a formula foe!
MV8000 /88 is God King , where are you? I'm in Dallas. Great Video❤ That Sax is Dope. Sounds like something I heard on Jazz Master V. I USED MV with the Push2, Machine Studio/Jam. I am pursuing the Verselab now!
Thanx for watching. Atl is where I’m Iz. Looking for another MV (8800)@ the right price too
@@TheRealGordonBlu what would be the right price
@@Lofilegacybeats Been seeing them as low as $300 on FB marketplace & offer up! The economy has folks liquidating so lots of outboard gear getting sold for cheap these days.
The MixDown Mode & Suite is the MV’s Super Power. Really separates it from other Gear.
