- DIY NO-WATER-PHONE. Built using an IKEA stainless steel serving bowl, cheap electronics and items from a hardware store.
Recorded through a direct box to Cubase Pro with RME Fireface UFX2. Audioprocessing applied.
👌
Fantastic!!!
0:59 does the peizo mic serve any purpose? also the audio connector?
Amazing project btw 👍
With the piezo / audio connector you can connect the instrument directly to a mixer (or audio interface). And thanks!
this is exquisite
Amazing work! What is the name of the metal loops you are connecting the rods through?
@@Eerieworm_Horror_Music_Podcast thank you! Sorry, don`t know the name, just something you can surely find in a normal hardware store.
This is great! What diameter are the rods?
Thank you. 4 mm.
Did you have specific cut lengths planned, or did you choose to cut them at random lengths?
Random lenghts, no exact tuning.
What diameter rods did you use?
4 mm.
How loud is it withiut the piezo? Any video you can post of just avcoustic demo?
The acoustic loudness depends heavily on the bowing technique and the bow. In the video I am using a cello bow which is loud enough to be unpleasant for some 😁 No alternative videos, I am sorry.
@@jounilehtonen Would you recommend using only a cello bow, or is using a violin bow the same?
@@AtaAndrada I tested also a violin bow, did not work for me.
som finissimo
what is the diameter of the bowl?
also the rods
BLANDA BLANK Ikea bowl. 28 cm. Rods are about 4 cm to about 30 cm. No science behind the lenghts in my version.
@@jounilehtonen cool.thanks. I found some 4 mm rods. Is that what you used?
Rods thickness 3 mm here. I am no expert but I think 4 mm will propably work ok. You`d need to test yourself 😎
Okay good, where i am from IKEA doesnt exist, any metallic bowl works? And for what is the piezo mic and jack connector, and what type of rods are that, any rods work?
Use a bigger pot and some longer rods.
