Durango and Silverton Cab Ride! The Great American Train Odyssey! K-28 class

Join 762 Media on a journey through the Animas River Canyon on the world famous Durango and Silverton Railroad in Southwestern Colorado.
We ride onboard train 463 from Durango to Silverton with views from the lineside, in the cab and onboard the train itself over a number of different days in this hour long feature. The locomotives featured are 1923 Built K-28s 473 and 476 (both of which we get to ride in the cab), along with 1928 K-37 493 strutting their stuff up the steep grades and around the tight curves of this beautiful line.
This 45 mile line was built by the Denver and Rio Grande Western in 1882 as 'The Silverton Branch' to serve the booming Silver mining industry around Silverton. However by the 1950s the Rio Grande found a new market as the mining revenue faltered, that being tourists. By 1981 the Rio Grande sold the line to a Florida Businessman and in the 40 years since then it has grown into one of the best Scenic Railroads in the World, with a world class fleet of locomotives and rolling stock, operating 3 times a day from May to October, along with limited times the rest of the year!
