@vaughnjh my wife, is also a teacher. How does my comment insult anyone? I'm talking in general schools nowadays only teach enough to pass a test at the end of the week and that's it. I dont blame the teachers. I blame the system. I hope that's ok with you 😊✌️

I'm catching up on past videos. I am in agreement with you though as I have thought about the advantages of a child learning things at a much younger age than is here in the states. Why does our school system wait until high-school to teach other languages anyway? It's mind boggling.

Note - when you water with worm water, only water the ground around the plants. the water can burn the leaves if you pour it directly on the plants. Best of luck with the plants!

    • @ws4860
      @ws4860 Рік тому +2

That's not true, you can't overdose worm tea, even not if it is pure. This one is mixed with water one : five so there is no risk at all. May be the sun burns through the waterdrops as through glas, but this has nothing to do with the worm fertilizer. Why I know this? Because I made ~120 liter worm tea a year, very concentrated dark brown stuff and I often used it pure.
Btw. Orchids love the undiluted broth, they grow beautifully with it and have three times as many flowers.
@NomadicMovement : If at least a third bucket is used for production, the worms leave the middle bucket after all feed has been processed. They climb into the upper bucket with the fresh waste and in the middle bucket you will find pure, best humus, almost without worms.
I worked with a stack of five large boxes because it's freezing here in the winter and the buckets don't have enough room for the worms to stay together in the middle like bees do in the winter.
Fun fact: once I stored all the liquid in buckets beneath my garden table and my dog drank nearly all empty in a few weeks *lol.

    • @yvettepugin4035
      @yvettepugin4035 Рік тому

      Agreed
The worm water won't burn the leaves but the sun on the water drops will - they act like magnifying glasses.
The best is to water around the base and to spray the leaves with a fine mist to avoid the burning if watering during the day in full sun.
Always best not to water your garden when the sun is at its zenith. Worm tea is liquid gold ❤❤

Your daughter is leaps and bounds ahead of so many children today. You are providing her home school education with access to the world around her, instead of plunking her down in front of a tv or computer screen, she is out running the farm with you, cooking, cleaning, doing farm chores, using tools, following directions, asking questions an getting answers. You talk to her like she understands you because you know she does; and you let her answer. You include her in your daily life and allow her to pitch in, never mind spills or any mess. You let her get dirty. You encourage her to contribute, and she flourishes. You are already homeschooling Sadie in the Montessori method teaching her what she can do instead of what she can't. Nurturing her inquisitiveness. It is such fun to watch her cracking eggs, plastering holes, and watching her play.

I can imagine it's been a lot of hard times, but your family are living in the best times. Teaching the little one all the things I learned growing up here in Virginia at her age . Survival, learning to grow food, taking care of animals and building stuff. Also, I was taught hunting and trapping at very young age. I even learned to bait my hook when fishing at four years old. I learned how to even clean the animals. I hope I never have to do that if shtf cause I'm not a very big meat eater . So, that's WAY more than a public school will EVER teach a child.

Sadie is already in the best preschool she could want at your home, you are correct- you and Jordan have everything you need to be excellent parents and teachers for her. I loved homeschooling, and highly recommend parents homeschool until at least age 7.. (homeschoolers are not isloated or being brainwashed when their parents are doing it right, they are getting a solid foundation in being human and being good contributive members of society. Well homeschooled kids are better socialized and more well rounded than the cookie cutter mass education system allows in my personal experience)

    My step-dad was a taper.
Yes, through the end of the 80s.
He made hanging drywall look so easy.
As what you saw in the videos-
seasoned men taping and sanding large areas
in hours was my step-dad. Beautiful memories...
Using his knives to slice through mud like butter.
Mud mixed until creamy. Using his knife to hold down and cut tape where needed. Creating these perfect paths along the seams. The metal sound of him reaching in the pan for more or to wipe off the excess was rhythmic with continuous tempo- inspiration for a mud dance. Covering nail holes an invisibility to the eye took skill. And as I type this out, I can visually see him in his white tee and blue jeans with several sizes of knives tuck into his back waist line. He was a taper that would carry and lift these boards well above his head. Purely defined strength in muscle and arm veins. Most impressive is while in his steel stilts lift these boards and extend his reach to nail them in.
He too worked with texture. Most often HAND CREATIONS of the swirls, embossed designs and orange peel familiar in the 80s. That's another whole set of skill and talent.
I was just a kid- running in and out of mostly new framed construction homes. Up and down the stairs. Lot to lot. And before departing, 5 gallons buckets used as wash sinks to clean tools.
I have the most beautiful memories of taping.
Ahh... I can still smell the mud.

The dynamics are Mom is the caregiver nurturing and Dad is fun. The perfect role models. I went two years without electricity, running water, and no toilet. A deep hole in the ground with two planks crossing over the hole and you squat. One night we were having a party and a German guy fell in. Funny at the time not for the guy but the rest of us. We passed him the plank to climb up but no one would go near him. He had to run to the sea and wash himself. He came back to the party stark naked. It sobered him up. I gave him my shorts to cover his dignity.
When we would travel the place would have to have a European toilet and shower. Luxury, I was used to bathing in the sea and toileting in the jungle. I felt I wanted and needed nothing more. So I get your excitement about the toilet installation. When you finish building your house Rodrigo will be well-established the plot will be turned into a luxury piece of real estate. Maybe build something for an Airbnb. They can help on the farm and it's another income stream. I'm getting too far ahead of myself, haha
Take care GOD Bless you and yours M

I know exactly how thrilled you are to have a toilet. I built an A-frame in the Amazon and lived 1.5 years without a toilet. We used a post-hole digger (called it El Gato) and dug a hole in the cocoa plantation for each use. While digging the hole we never knew which insect we would upset. When we upset ants, they bit us on the ankles or the butt and you lost all interest in finishing the ‘job’. But the day we installed a flush toilet, ah, no more biting insects. We filled the tank with creek water, but lived in luxury.

The two best bits of advice I ever got were: 1)Teach the child, not the curriculum. and 2) You are the world's leading expert on your child. You guys can do it! One of mine homeschooled through high school, with just a couple of dual credit classes. Another one homeschooled through (via dual credit) most of her freshman year in high school. Another chise to attend boarding school for high school, and has thrived. Every kid is different. Have fun and rely on each other for those much-needed breaks!

The wood provides a flat base for the sandpaper and makes holding onto it easier. You can wrap the edges of the paper up so your grip will hold it stable on the block of wood. It become like their calling card, something everyone was always asking for. But, drywall is must definitely tedious and you have to practice a lot to get a good technique. Having the right tools also makes a big difference. Kudos for taking it on. I have no doubt the two of you will slay it just wonderfully as you do every thing that you set your minds to doing. 💞🙏.

Also don't worry about the lines or sanding them out. Knock the big stuff down by running your blad over it after it dries. Then fill in with another thin coat. Save yourself a ton of time with minimal to no sanding after your final coat.

I've been following for a few years now and Sadie is my absolute favourite. Seeing her develop, watching how you talk to her and not down to her is amazing. She is a sponge right now, soaking up everything which is delightful to observe.
Children are so deprived going to formal schools with structural learning. Yes I understand that they need to learn how to read, write, comprehend but everything is digitised and online. They are not being exposed and encouraged to being independent, and free thinking, rather to becoming dependant on social media, devices and antisocial relationships.
This child is a dream because you are not only teaching her the basics but look at her relationships, with the animals (she has a healthy respect for them), the locals, Rodrigo, everybody who works on the farm - that is her normal. You are allowing her to discover her likes and dislikes regarding food (she made her funny "I don't really like this face" for the crepe and you accepted that with such grace). She is learning so many things which will make her aware of not only herself but others and the environment.
Kaylee you are a wonderful mother, role model, and I admire you so much. Jordan is a proud partner and dad, loving these two women in his life by cherishing and encouraging them. I raised my son this way too and despite his hangups is a well rounded grown-up.
Congrats on the toilet install 🎉🎉🎉, and I am excited to see you both reach your desired goals with this bathroom build.

Hey guys, huge congrats on the toilet - what a milestone!! Sadie is just more adorable with every episode! It shows how much love and attention she gets that she is so well adjusted and learning so fast! Genuine question. Is Seed better than AG1?

    • @NomadicMovement

They’re both totally different! Seed is a probiotic whereas AG1 is a nutritional drink.

@@NomadicMovement thanks for answering. I just thought one of the things was that AG 1 was supposed to be a complete supplement and have probiotocs, prebiotics and adaptagens in it. I'm thinking about a supplement for myself so interested in hearing if you notice a better effect from the probiotics in Seed to those in AG1? Sorry, not trying to be obtuse, really trying to decide which route to go...

Congrats on your toilet, yaya! I home-schooled my two girls until they wanted to go to highschool, and everyone was sure I had ruined them, but they went to highschool a grade ahead in studies, and are strong, independent women now. They did go to kindergarden, grade one and two, but after school strikes, crazy crap going on in the schools, we pulled them out to be FREE RANGE! Everyone said, but what about socialization? Not in school doesn't mean not around other humans, it means not in an institutions all day long. If there had been a Waldorf school nearby, I would have sent them to that. I love how Sadie is getting a very rounded education already.
