Pointing our bow toward the empty horizon and watching the land slow fade away behind us has always been one one my favorite aspects of sailing the world. But this time I am filled with even more excitement, and more fear, than usual
After spending 9 months in Malta, having a baby, installing a bunch of off-grid systems, and preparing ourselves for life underway, we have finally set sail for our first destination over the horizon as a new family. Although Desiree and I have logged thousands of miles out at sea, this voyage will be a completely different beast. I’m going to have to learn how to sail our boat single handed, which won’t be so bad on our 16 hour sail from Malta to Sicily. But from Sicily to Greece I’ve got 48 hours straight that I’ve got to be in charge of the boat.
So while the rewards of sailing with a family are so much deeper, the hard parts seem so much harder.
But for the first part of this adventure our goal is to sail to the historic city of Syracuse where we hope to discover one of the most important ancient cities in the Mediterranean.

You guys need netting installed pronto!
Netting is long overdue on this boat. Safety for puppy and baby. Puppy need life preserver and handle on back to pick him up when he goes overboard.
Agreed
I guess they'll play that card when they fell they need it?
Hi God bless you im praying for you and you beautiful Izabella my granddaughter’s name is Izabella also everything will be ok im from Fall River Massachusetts your little princess will be in greats hands over in Boston and off course God’s blessing ❤️🙏
You guys just keep getting better and better. I have been wondering why you guys, as in Bermuda for example, never use sentinel anchors when expecting heavier winds. A break open snatch block on your anchor chain, a twenty pound weight and a quarter inch line, lowered to about half way down will help to keep the shank lower and act as a shock absorber to dynamic loads yanking on the chain. Seems like nobody uses that setup any more, and believe me it helps a lot. On top of that, I've never had much faith in plow anchors, unless they're super heavy. You really need to try High Tensile Danforth type for most conditions. Advertisers have brainwashed so many sailors. You might be quite surprised
Love watching your videos every Saturday morning! Allows people on land to experience live on the water!
Living on Cape Cod, we see the water everyday but getting out on it sporadically
I also look forward to seeing Atticus every Saturday morning, hope they sail forever ❤
Jordan is great, good narrator an very clever, that’s why make him and his family so interesting, I been following since they left USA.
Desiree is also a fantastic narrator and also very clever. She is now also a fantastic mother, just like Jordan is a fantastic father, too. And please don't forget Oso, a super important family member. 🐕
Looking beautiful out there, Isa looking beautiful and growing in front of our eyes. Nice to see her expressions .
Have a safe sail
Oso riding in the dingy reminds me of the Grinch’s dog, Max, riding on the sleigh to Whoville! 😂 (also love the history lessons about the cities you visit. Thanks!)
I love how you explain the history of the places you’re visiting. Thanks for putting so much effort into it because it’s really interesting and informative for us who are UA-cam “sailors”. I love history, learning about new places, and I’d never get to see these places without your channel. It really opens up the world, “know your world”. Thanks so much.
You guys have this down with Isa looking very comfortable and all the sailing gadgets you installed. Desiree cooking up a storm, Jordan night watches alone, Ozo relaxing on deck, Isa always looking too cute. On to Greece, can't wait!
Once again you held my interest all the way through your video and I appreciate the historical information you provide of the places you visit. Best of luck to the entire crew of the Atticus and keep up the good work!
bonjour sailing Atticus. many thanks for the most recent vidéo. i'm just so pleased when you Jordan give us chapter and verse about a country and or city. Your information on Syracuse was spot on. Happy sailing to Greece, and your daughter is so adorable.
Not only are your videos amazing, but your engagement with the community (comments) is much appreciated. I hope you guys are enjoying Greece!
Nice video, Jordon; keep the Chef happy, or you will be losing some weight.
I hope you are happy with your boat. But I will suggest a horning over the main sail to keep the sun off your cabinet inside.
We had this done and were very happy that it was cooler inside.
With our best wishes,
Raul and Joan Bryan, Texas
Awesome architecture with added History lesson.
Nicely done. Isa is like, okay that's enough; now entertain me!
Tracking shows you made it to Greece. Beautiful blue waters I've always remembered. But google earthing it, nothing is anything like it was 43 years ago. Back then Paradise beach was nude and only had cabana's no giant hotel buildings. It was cheap, remote, and primitive and I loved it.
I'd love to see an in depth cooking demo of how you meal prep for passages. Hints tips and tricks. LOL just shut it!
another great chapter. Love the fact that you include so much of the architecture in your video travels (cruising is seeing different places, people and things, right?) side note what issues do you have to jump through with a pet on board, with many different countries and customs? Thanks again for allowing us to look over your shoulders.
Hi guys. We met breefly in Malta. I left my boat in Roma and flew to Finland. Too hot & crowded for me. Back in business when the temperature is right. Wish you all the best and safe trip. See you somewhere. Br. Otto
That segment where you pull into Syracuse was a fun edit.
Beautiful scenery there, Jordan. Enjoy your passage and fair winds
I truly love you guys and your videos. I just wanted to comment on your sponsor and how it relates to the perception that sailing is for the wealthy or privileged. I took a look at their website and I'm blown away at the cost for their services 4-6 grand to go on a 5-7 day passage. It's so ridiculous, so many of us could not afford that. I've been sailing for 40 years and it's the one thing that has frustrated me, especially in the last 20 years, that so many want to make big money to teach something that should be passed on to our next generation of sailors. There are so many ways to learn for either free, cheap or even get paid to do so. I've never paid for the experience or to learn, with the exception of racing lasors as a kid and even that was dirt cheap to be a part of. When I wanted to learn more, I would simply go to each marina with index cards pre filled out with my contact information and what I was looking for, ie. crew for club races, crew for a passage, etc, and post them on their bulletin boards. I never had to wait more than 48 to 72 hours before someone would contact me with an opportunity FOR FREE. I was able to do 3 South Pacific circumnavigations, passage from San Francisco to Hawaii, Hawaii to San Diego all for free. I learned so much and gained life-long friendships... again, all for free. Please take the time to talk about how underprivileged or people that do not have that means can access experience and learn the joy of bluewater sailing.
It's a choice. Not everyone lives near a marina or even water and can just sail for 'free'. If you don't want to pay, then don't. Quit whining about being underprivileged. It's so lame.
@pastrami00 that's how you took that... that I'm whining? That says so much more about you than me. If you think that's whining, you don't have a clue about the sailing community.
Good luck in the Aegean, guys! Looking forward to Greece, but sad you're only stopping in Italy so briefly. Hope you get back there and sail the Italian coastline, which I think is the most beautiful in the world. Bon voyage!
Been following you for well over a year and to my wife and i this episode was one of the Best. Smooth beautiful sailing, perfect coverage of your traveled areas great historical facts. Always lovely baby's pictures and Oso's seamanship handling of all inclusive of new family addition! FWCS ⛵️
16:52 - HA - your own take of a comedy sketch that's like a scrap between Ray & Debra Barone (Everybody Loves Raymond) - LOL; well done.
It has been so amazing watching your journey. I've been "onboard" for years, I think I remember watching the first ever episode of Atticus "1". 🙏 Loving the journey guys!
"If you want food for the next two days...shut it"😂😂😂awesome!
Great video!! I love that you show the cities, tell the history, and showcasing amazing food. One of the best things about sailing is visiting all the amazing destinations.
Please help Jordan with his tan!
You have but a great deal of work in your boat. But you have grown even more as a man, husband and now a father. The very best to in your travels.
“Shut it!” 😂😂😂
Des Jordan, Isa and Oso are freaking so good to watch that it makes me ecstatic to see a new video on the real. Awesome coming from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I'm luvin the vibe Buds, you're back in the groove! 🌎 ⛵️
The "Horse Shoe Arches" as you put it were actually Groin Vaults and they were invented by King Attalos of Pergamon (Curently Turkey). Circa 223 BC
Your photography and videos are incredible. Your shots, your editing; just wonderful. Good work!
Another great episode! I was in Syracuse this time last year! I think its awesome knowing you all walked in the same streets and tried some of the same food as I did! Safe travels to you all.
That is one cute kid. When they laugh and smile like that you know you're onto something good... congrats!
Big like 👍. Looks like so much fun. Stay safe. See 👀 you on the next one. Greece 🇬🇷 here they come.
Great videography and history tour. Put a couple low voltage fans in the galley for the chef for crying out loud..hahahahah
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you
Cheers to safe sailing ! ❤Such a beautiful episode! SPA, you are truly the BEST!
So jealous you guys are in Sicily! That is one of our dream places to visit one day! Your history lesson on Syracuse was super interesting!
Pure genius Desiree, positioning Isa's plate in the corner!!!
So glad to be sailing with you guys again! Health & happiness to you all. Safe travels ❤️
A gentler way of addressing the question of a lid on the boiling pot. I Put the lid on when heating the water to reduce heat loss and get to a boil faster. Once any food is put into the pot the boiling characteristics change, so I keep the lid off to avoid the pot boiling over . Why clean a stovetop when it’s easier not to make a mess in the first place?
I love watching you guys out on the water
Thanks for showing us the beautiful sites. I will never get to go in person but this is next best thing.
Such a cute n good puppy n you all look great!
Thanks for your videos. I always look forward to seeing your updates.
Perfect. Thank You.
I have seen others sail alone and they don't say much about other boats on passages. I suspect you could use minimal sail while taking a nap, and weather would wake you up, however, it would be nice if there was an alarm programable for when you get within a set distance from another craft, either with X or S band radar, or AIS transponder.
Nice set up your dingy in aft
It's so exciting to see you guys on the move again.... can't wait to see more🤗💞
Absolutely Beautiful!!! 💜 Safe Sailing Always!!
Very well done! After the hard times with the little cuty and boat projects - finally in "your element" again. Your content is great and edited on a high level.
Thanks "buddys"!
production still top notch
Looks beautiful there. Great video.
I am floored by the high quality of your videos. I am truly amazed at the footage, sound, lighting and editing quality. Your videos are a joy to watch.
Another corker. Thank you both
PB Blaster is awesome!
" Never mess with the chef because they make your food taste great "... give that beautiful mommy chef a kiss instead and tell her she is wonderful ... beautiful scenery and beautiful family ... ❤❤❤😊😊😊
great video....still, I am left with one response.....your BABY is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Good passage and tour of Syacuse! That Isa is so cute! She knows how to get what she wants with no words necessary! Hoping your passage to Greece is as smooth as the last one!
Love love you all!
Well, well, Isa is a shipmate more. And she wants the rudder! WOW! Godspeed guys. You all are doing fine and you are our inspiration...
17:00 Desiree with the sarcasm :P Love it.
Awesome to see you guys sailing again! Hope the 'little chubba whabba' 😂 is doing well. Enjoy Greece!
😅wow, love the table!
The focus for me used to be the boat, but now it's that cute little baby. Don't get me wrong, I like the boat, but no one can resist that beautiful little baby.
Thanks very much
We love you guys....
It's interesting on the checking in and out process of the different countries and just what's involved. I was surprised at the fee's charged just to enter ................... enjoy
Another stunning video. Thank you. I love the detail of all aspects and the production value. Well done!
Great video. Thanks.
Wow I got up this morning and no Sailing Project Atacus. I hope you are well. Cant wait to hear and see what's up. Please be ok. Netting is essential, . I lived aboard for years and you can't have too much netting. Keeps things out as well as in . Be safe out there . I look forward to your next adventure.
I am going on my 2nd trip on SailLibra! They are Epic!
I am a maintenance supervisor to Bingo Bakeries. We love Pb Blaster😊😊,

As always, great video.
VERY COOL....Great to see your Little family Explore this NEW World!!! THANKS for Sharing!!!!
Thanks
Amazing what a natural little sailor your most recent crew member is. She just seems super relaxed however I appreciate we maybe dont see her when she may get fussy? Probably wouldn't make great content afterall. Cheers Team Atticus. 😊
2.2K+ subscriber LIKE; 17,456th desktop studio view about to happen. This episode has been one of my favorites as you show life on-the-go from different crew perspectives, and getting to do a video-chat with Dad in real-time. Very cool; always like the drone footage of the boat and your surroundings.
Just watched your video from 3 weeks ago and I must say you guys are the best ambassadors for Malta. Wife and I are now planning to visit it. great job guys.
Great video!
Jordan, My wife told me to mind my own business in the kitchen a long time ago. As they gain more confidence, they also tell you other things to do and places to go. Walk the dog, go to the grocery, get this, get that. You are at least ten years in on this. You have to abdicate to the Queen's wishes. Tell him Desiree'.
That’s what I thought - Jordan doesn’t even know where the galley is..! 😉
Hi folks, fun and historical places, thanks and catch you next time❤❤❤
¡Great that you guys started your journey onward to Italy and Greece! ⛵
Isa and Oso are fantastic sailors! 😉
Can't wait for the next episode.
Abrazos de la tía "postiza" Ivy desde Panamá. 🤗
You guys need to hang a baby swing for Isabella . I saw an other sailboat with a little tikes one .❤
Wow. Video calls underway, no lag time apparent. Incredible.
Your baby got big
Thanks for the visit to the city, beautiful !
You showed off Syracuse well. Thanks for sharing. Hoping your family safe passages.
You are a true sailor. You've got the spinning a yarn down tight. Great wordsmith.
I reckon Oso is ready for the tiller :P
Great job!!! 🎉 watching from Texas! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You guys make it look so easy...... I loved your old boat. I admired you both when you were struggling.
Too Infinity and Beyond! Fair winds and following seas. Sail On! 🙂
Love the history and that beautiful baby!!!
Well we know Isa eats well, what a sweet little Buddha baby. My kids were like that way back when. I so enjoy your videos. Such an amazing life you live. Safe sails!
