Piggybacking on this e-mail because YT's censors forced me to. 1. As noted, the ACTUAL Brian Eno has a silent bit-part in the first two minutes. 2. One can't dismiss the theory that they may have accidentally hastened Dermot's demise via the Shaft dance scene. 3. Ike Hayes as motivator is one thing, but using Radiohead to represent depressing music? Ten years earlier they would have cited Leonard Cohen...also....the song is "Exit Music" (exit as in suicide) If you have trouble coping with Radiohead's original version, don't listen to Katharine Blake's cover. (Unless you're one of her worshipful fanboys). 4. Play the Bee Gees? Sad Fact: Dermot Morgan who played as 'Father Ted' died the day of a Heart Attack after the filming of this last episode......some People think it was caused by his constant dancing in this episode and the many takes they did for that scene

Really sad, he wanted to go on to do bigger things. Apparently it wasn't the representation of him that he really wanted to get out there. "So he had to dance to this Shaft music and, for whatever reason, the producers didn't think I was doing it right so I had to do it over and over again. "We done it three times and I kept messing it up. "Dermot was wrecked and kept saying, ' I can't do it anymore, I'm exhausted' and the producers were telling him he kept having to do it because I kept messing it up. "I did that episode on the Friday and I was coming home from London on the Sunday morning and I was getting the taxi from Dublin Airport into town and the taxi driver turned around and said to me, 'You'll never guess who died - Father Ted'. "I made it to his mass in England and I was sitting beside Ardal (who played dougal) and the coffin was just coming past us and he whispered in to my ear, 'You killed Father Ted'. And I just burst out laughing in the middle of the mass."
The ending was a tribute to Dermot Morgan who collapsed and died of a heart attack the evening after concluding the final episode while hosting a dinner party aged 45.

The greatest comedy show ever made. Written by 2 Irish men with an incredible sense of farce and humour!! The best. This episode is wonderful. It will always be tinged with sadness. Not only the last episode, but also what happened to Dermot. The ending stirs the emotions a lot, even now watching this for the 200th time ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ I met Dermot Morgan in 1997, in Dublin. Christmas time. He was in a queue and my Dad handed me a pen and paper. I went up to him, apologised for intruding......and asked for his autograph. He stayed silent, gave me a small smirk....and signed his autograph. Didn't say a word to me. I thanked him and left. It was December 1996. Thank you good Sir, and the whole cast and crew. see, the ending flashback compilation just played again.....and a tear came from my eye ❣️
I enjoyed these over 20 years ago as a teenager, it's been great to see your reactions as you watch them for the first time. Thank you for bringing this amazing show back to a new audience and I hope everyone enjoyed the journey RIP Dermot and Frank
This hit hard - I watched my 1st ever Father Ted at a house party many many years ago, and it was such a fun party, now everytime I hear the theme tune it makes me feel so nostalgic for those days.
I have loved your reactions to Father Ted, mate. I’m glad you’ve loved it so much. I still rewatch it and it’s just as funny now as it was when first broadcast. I remember wondering all those years ago how the last episode would play out. I had heard rumours that Ted was originally going to join Kevin on the window ledge (later confirmed by the writers), but out of respect for Dermot Morgan, they chose to go with a reverse montage of clips from all previous episodes. I loved it. Especially with the poignant rendition of the Father Ted theme. It got the message across beautifully; although Ted’s dreams will never come true, and he’ll be on Craggy Island forever with Dougal, Jack and Mrs. Doyle...there IS something really comforting and familiar about being part of a strange family in a place that never changes. The end of an era. But looking forward to your future reactions! 👍🏻
Oh noooo, I better get a coffee and a biscuit for this one, R.I.P to the cast that we lost over the years what a show, and you sir what a laugh I've had with this journey. Loved every episode
From what I've read somewhere, behind the scenes Tommy Tiernan (who played the depressed priest) kept flubbing his hands during the dance scene and Dermot had to keep doing the dance, despite pains in his heart. Some years later, Tiernan said that he thinks it might've contributed to Morgan's fatal heart attack the following day. Also, there was an originally filmed ending that they made involving Ted and the depressed priest jumping together, that was abandoned in favour of the closing montage as a result of Dermot's death, and the writers apparently didn't think it was a good ending either. Nonetheless, still a good show that makes generations of people laugh all these years later.
I will miss these reactions! This is how I originally found your channel and they have been one of the highlights each month. If I could make a suggestion, I think 'I'm Alan Partridge' would make a great replacement.
I said a few videos ago that I expected tears in this one, and I didn't see tears but I'm sure there weren't dry eyes. Really enjoyed the journey you've brought us on so thankyou. From what I can think of, if things go right, there's one more chance to see those not so dry eyes in what should be the last episode of another show you are reacting to, not regularly yet though!
Your officially one of my favourite youtubers because of this series, i grew up watching this show all the time on RTE as a kid and loved it. Not often that American's even acknowledge it's existence. Quite literally the only funny reaction channel on UA-cam.
Thank you for all the episodes of father Ted, You made it easy to watch, without too much distraction, good to know they are here to watch them again, cheers
This really is the end of an era. To my knowledge the only other time you seen them in a church was in 'And God Created Women' when the writer Polly Clarke came to stay, and Ted wanted to do that quick mass so that he could go on a date with her the same night. You were literally speechless at the end, looking forward to the documentary.
Yes, even his priestly work wasn't referred to much, though visiting nuns were quite fans, saying that Father Crilly 'gave good mass'. I think Ted himself was described by the writers as being 'not very religious - to him, being a priest was just a job'. Dougal presumably collected enough tokens on cereal packets to get the curate post.
End of an era! Glad you enjoyed this one. Taffe, have you considered watching Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? It's only 6 episodes and nobody on YT has reacted to it yet.
The actor who played Kevin (Tommy Tiernan) kept messing up on the Shaft scene, causing Dermot Morgan to keep dancing. At his funeral, the actor who plays Dougal, walked over to Tommy and said "You killed Fr. Ted".
Agreed. You grow to love Ted and them all. In a weird way I still like imagine them all still getting into hilarious jams off the West Coast. Incomparable.
You can't help but get hooked by the characters (and the actors playing them). When the show finally ends it's like saying good bye to old friends. The tragic death of Dermot Morgan at the age of 46 was really really sad: "Morgan, who starred as Father Ted Crilly on the classic Irish sitcom, died suddenly after suffering a heart attack in London back in 1998. His tragic passing came just a day after filming had wrapped on the third and ultimately final series of the hit show. O'Hanlon made his name alongside Morgan as the dim-witted Father Dougal Maguire admitted he was left “reeling” following his friend's sad death, which came just hours after they had toasted the success of Father Ted together at a wrap party."
Thank you for doing this series in full. This series was such a big part of childhood. Brings back memories of watching to this with my Dad howling with laughter. The writing and acting is at such a high level and the way you come to love the characters is so quick. Graham Linehan also wrote Black Books and it would be great if you did more of that in the future. You will see the similarities come through and laugh just as loud.
Loved the outro dude, I remember watching this episode live. Ever since, I have been able to watch it like any other episode, but your synopsis at the end brought back how kind of... cold and sad it felt that it was the end of the show when watching the first time around. Thanks for reacting to this classic series!!
I don't comment very often, but I've really enjoyed watching and even rewatching your reactions to father ted. I'm sure I'll watch them a fair few more times too. Keep up the good work
What a journey. Your reaction at the end was one of the most genuine you'll see on any reaction channel. Especially from an American who would have probably never watched this show had it not been because you chose to react to it. It's a very sad end to what I still say is the best sitcom of all time. Dermot dying so young just after this episode wrapped is always going to be eternally sad but Father Ted lives on forever.
It's always emotional getting to the end of a show, when you know it's the end, there's nothing more. No more new experiences from this set of individuals, in this world, setting, as those characters. Despite them just being characters, it always hits hard that it's over.
I hate to think about how Dermott Morgan died the day after this was filmed 😔😔 at least we can still watch Father Ted, where he'll always be remembered :')
I know that feeling Noah. As a Brit as a young man in the 80 ‘s I watched ‘Cheers’ from your side of the pond. Fell in love with the characters, the writing... everything.
Agreed. This is a perfect ending of a brilliant series. In my mind I can see them all there, still on Craggy Island, for ever and ever and ever and ever. For me, it makes it easy to return to every episode, but hard to watch this last episode in any other order than it's supposed to be.
Dougal’s little forever and ever and ever speech makes me tear up as that’s exactly how imagine them too - all four of them together in their little bubble on Craggy Island ☺️
I felt it too when the last episode aired especially knowing then that dermot had died so soon after filming.Dermot will live forever through father ted making generations laugh.
Peep Show Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Father Ted, The Office, Mr Bean, The Day Today/Brass Eye and The Mighty Boosh are all worth watching. The culmination of 30 years of modern British sitcom; I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle is very funny, but it's standup.
Hey, Taffe! 👋 Father Ted is one of my most treasured shows. Although we've never spoken I feel as though I've been with you throughout! I hope you enjoyed the show as much I have. Much love from the UK 🇬🇧.
Hi Noah, I agree with you, I don`t think there could have been a better ending !! It`s a happy/sad moment all over again, though !! I`ve really enjoyed your reactions to it. R.I.P. Dermot, Frank & Rynagh .

I'd also be interested to know what your favourite episodes are (say top 10) now we're at the end! 🙂
Father Kevin played by the superb Tommy Tiernan. He does a quite unique talk show on Saturday nights on RTE, where he speaks to three guests and has no idea who is coming out until his compere announces it while opening a curtain.
I totally understand that "I feel weird" feeling. It happens every time I watch the finale of a good show. It's like a mixture of sadness and acceptance
Hey Taffe316, I absolutely loved your reaction to the Father Ted series, I was in secondary school in Ireland when it was first on, it was pure class to watch much to the annoyance ironically of our local priest, this is the first time I have seen the final episode since it first came out and it got me quite emotional, I was in College in the uk in first year when I got a call from my mother on the communal phone to tell me that Dermot Morgan had passed away, it was the first time I ever truly experienced a sense of loss in my life and I had never even met the man, it was amazing that the series provided so much enjoyment and to so many, I had the same feeling as when you finished the series, it got at me in a way I hadn’t expected... My they Rest In Peace Dermot Morgan (Father Ted Crilly) , Frank Kelly (Father Jack) and Pat Laffan (Pat Mustard) , Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Dougal) and Pauline McLynn (Mrs.Doyle) are still both alive and well at the time of writing this, thanks to you all for so much joy in my life :)
I was going to tell the story in my own words, but found this article: FUNNYMAN Tommy Tiernan has revealed how Ardal O'Hanlon accused him of killing comic legend Dermot Morgan. The Navan stand-up said in a TV3 documentary O'Hanlon joked that Tiernan had sent Father Ted to his grave. He added: "I played this very depressed priest in Father Ted and Ted had found out he was going to America. "I made it to his mass in England and I was sitting beside Ardal and the coffin was just coming past us and he whispered in to my ear, 'You killed Father Ted'. And I just burst out laughing in the middle of the mass."
I felt this way the first time round I watched it and a bit teary eyed with your reaction. Its a sweet ending to a great show with characters which is why the ending got to you in this way. I have enjoyed watching your reaction videos. Thank you.
Thanks for letting me watch this with you. Sad but also giving me the feeling we all need to make the most of every single day as we never know when this wild ride will end. What a great legacy these actors, writers and everyone else connected to the show leave us with.
It is emotional. This was a time when I was half my age now. It wasn’t even long ago really, but this is when comedy was excellent in the UK. Thanks for showing it all. Imo there’s no way it should go into a category anywhere near the inbetweeners. They’re not a patch on Father Ted. Not even close. May the greats we’ve lost here rest in peace. The guys are dearly missed. Take care Taffe

I met Dermot Morgan in 1997, in Dublin.
Thank you for bringing this amazing show back to a new audience and I hope everyone enjoyed the journey
RIP Dermot and Frank
This hit hard - I watched my 1st ever Father Ted at a house party many many years ago, and it was such a fun party, now everytime I hear the theme tune it makes me feel so nostalgic for those days.
He'll never get off that feckin island.
Brilliant ending to the series. Thank you for sticking with it until the end
You will never, ever, ever. Get bored of watching Father Ted. It’s like a childhood comfort blanket.
Oh noooo, I better get a coffee and a biscuit for this one, R.I.P to the cast that we lost over the years what a show, and you sir what a laugh I've had with this journey. Loved every episode
Sad always get a tear in the eye after that
That was wonderful
Brilliant show, glad you enjoyed it. RIP to both Dermot Morgan & Frank Kelly
I will miss these reactions! This is how I originally found your channel and they have been one of the highlights each month. If I could make a suggestion, I think 'I'm Alan Partridge' would make a great replacement.
It was great to be reminded of what a great show this is. I've really enjoyed your reactions to it.
Defo red eyes and a voice break! I'm am the same every time I watch the final scene :'(
@@stephenj7275 it’s the forever and ever and ever and ever....that sets me off 😢
Your officially one of my favourite youtubers because of this series, i grew up watching this show all the time on RTE as a kid and loved it.
Enjoying the watch through this holiday season. I LOVE this series! Thank you for this
Well I don’t know about anyone else but I was in tears at the end there. What a journey. A pleasure to share it with you mate.
End of an era! Glad you enjoyed this one. Taffe, have you considered watching Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? It's only 6 episodes and nobody on YT has reacted to it yet.
You and he were buddies weren't you?
The actor who played Kevin (Tommy Tiernan) kept messing up on the Shaft scene, causing Dermot Morgan to keep dancing.
At his funeral, the actor who plays Dougal, walked over to Tommy and said "You killed Fr. Ted".
Down with that sort of thing 😢
Thanks for this, I've really enjoyed watching this with you fine people.
It feels different to the Inbetweeners because this is better ;)
No comparison really!
Agreed
Impossible to make a comparison. I prefer Ted but they were completely different types of humour.
Agreed. You grow to love Ted and them all. In a weird way I still like imagine them all still getting into hilarious jams off the West Coast. Incomparable.
@@jefferyhitchmough1790" Near to where they bury the old glow in the dark"
"I like to think they film episodes in order..."
Proceeds to watch everything out of order 😂
You can't help but get hooked by the characters (and the actors playing them). When the show finally ends it's like saying good bye to old friends.
The tragic death of Dermot Morgan at the age of 46 was really really sad:
"Morgan, who starred as Father Ted Crilly on the classic Irish sitcom, died suddenly after suffering a heart attack in London back in 1998.
Thanks for reacting to this classic series!!
im realy going to miss your reacting to this iconic show
I don't comment very often, but I've really enjoyed watching and even rewatching your reactions to father ted.
3:31 - At that moment I seriously expected to hear "Hi! I'm Ed Winchester" LOL!
I hate to think about how Dermott Morgan died the day after this was filmed 😔😔 at least we can still watch Father Ted, where he'll always be remembered :')
Nicely said at the end there mate. Me and the wife really enjoyed watching all of them with you. RIP Dermot. Father Ted is utter perfection
Thanks man. As a lifelong fan of FT from the UK...It's been emotional. RIP Dermot
I know that feeling Noah. As a Brit as a young man in the 80 ‘s I watched ‘Cheers’ from your side of the pond. Fell in love with the characters, the writing... everything.
The Inbetweeners is hilarious, but this is like comfort food and you miss it when it ends.
Really enjoyed watching these videos. So glad you got to react to all of them in the end.
It's been a pleasure and an honour to share Father Ted with you sir 🤩
I've really only just started watching this series, I look forward to checking out the rest of the earlier reactions. Good work.
Very sad to re-watch this, appreciate the recognition you've given this show considering how local it is for me. Rip dermot, forever a legend
ah, the end of an era. i enjoyed this journey with you!
Fun fact: the guy who sang shaft was Issac Hayes, or chef from South Park
Nooo I can't believe it's over :(( Damnit Noah, now you have to rewatch so we can watch you rewatch..
An American Reacts to An American Reacts.... sounds great!
Watched every one with you....pure enjoyment.... Keep up the great work....!!...
I can't believe it's been 2 years! I didn't come across these reviews till about the 5th or 6th one, but it's still weird getting to the end of them.
Thank you for bringing a fresh look to this legendary series! It'll be great to see your review of the documentary.
And of course he's in Derry Girls, which is something I hope Noah gets to sometime.
Ardal O'Hanlon was on recently
@@MatthewLenton He was, just last week I think.
Now watch it with the DVD commentary. I will lend you the DVDs if you need them haha. Ah a Kevin Spacey joke this is the show that keeps giving.
Its sad the dermot morgan died the same evening after filming this last episode
So good to remember Dermot Morgan. Thanks!
I was going to tell the story in my own words, but found this article:
FUNNYMAN Tommy Tiernan has revealed how Ardal O'Hanlon accused him of killing comic legend Dermot Morgan. The Navan stand-up said in a TV3 documentary O'Hanlon joked that Tiernan had sent Father Ted to his grave.
He added: "I played this very depressed priest in Father Ted and Ted had found out he was going to America.
' Kevin Spacey, he's a nice guy'
Well that has aged like fine milk
You fell in love with the show man
Buzz Cagney is played by Jeff Harding, best known as Ed Winchester on The Fast Show, and now a prolific and award winning audio book narrator.
Hi! I'm Ed Winchester-
Well, there was that time Dougal did a funeral...
Really enjoyed this series, well done Taffe316
Great stuff, I've enjoyed all the episodes (again) and enjoyed watching you enjoy them too. Nice one.
*See you again by Paul Walker and Wiz Kalifa plays* I can't believe it. Glad we got them all on UA-cam and RIP Ted. Gone but not forgotten. A true classic
I'm glad you've enjoyed Father Ted as much as I've enjoyed your reactions, love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Enjoyed watching all these with you! It doesn't have to end here though, there's the documentary "Small, Far Away" with the writers and cast revisiting the locations. It's up in full on UA-cam!
After all these years, it still guts me that we were unable to get more Father Ted. So good, so bittersweet.
