This index is a way for EC to not be in CSM so that when they get a codex, GW doesn't have to remove units from CSM codex (MY GUESS!) Other guess is - no EC for years, dont bother with their units..
There have been rumors the next "new" army for 10th was EC for 12 to 16 months now. Frist there were lots of hints to next demon primearch coming to the full army coming out; however, they couldn't determine an release date. Valrak thought it was this summer but then he got confirmation that AoS new edition was this summer, so minimum they are coming this fall or latest end of 10th. But most of these rumors that were right in the past was about a year at most ahead of time, so I say its the last big release of the year.
@michaelscholer1 it literally says in the article that it's not coming any time soon. You're going to be holding your breath a long time if you are really hoping for a new codex for EC even this edition.
I think you missread the community articel. It is saying that the codex for Emperors Children is far away, like the end of 10th or 11 Edition, it is not saying they wont get a codex. This exact thing happend when the other 3 god specific csm legions got their codex, they moved to the index for quiete a time
The Emperor's Childen index is similar to what they did with World Eaters in 9th. They removed them from the codex as a CSM subfaction and gave them some rules in White Dwarf because at that time, it was already clear that they would get their own codex. My guess would be that an Emperor's Children codex is already being worked on (or maybe even done already) and will probably launch at the end of 10th (in which case, don't bother) or early 11th. It is a bit weird though that Emperor's Children seemingly won't get their own army- and/or detachment rule in the index. It seems like they just wanted to remove them from the CSM codex in preparation for their own codex, but didn't bother to give them some unique rules to actually make them relevant in the meantime.
That's easy, they don't have minis, lucious is out of production for years and Sonic weapons aren't even a mini, so GW kicked out of CSM codex all units without minis
Noise Marines and Lucius are being removed from CSM Codex. Just like Kharn and Berserkers were removed from the 9th Codex. This is confirmation that EC will get a Codex this edition. These Index rules will let you play your Noise Marines/Lucius models until the EC Codex comes out likely in 2025 or 2026.
Not really, Kharn was a plastic mini, berserkers was confirmed that they gonna get a new kit, on the other hand Lucious is out of production for years, and noise marines aren't even a kit, also GW is removing all resin kits from new codex, so they are basically saying that EC it's in the way to legends
Their last statement seems to mean that they can't give an ETA and we shouldn't expect anything in the short term, but they FINALLY acknowledged they are working on it. If they weren't planning new miniature releases, they wouldn't have made the index. Most likely we'll see a big release at the end of 10th or start of 11th, likely 1-2 years from now.
Fabulous Bile rejoining Emperor's Children starkly contradicts the lore. He's a pragmatic in a legion of peacocks, shares a mutual disdain for said legion and their Primarch, and doesn't believe that the Chaos gods are gods at all. Thus Creations of Bile being its own faction in 9th made perfect sense.
Which is to say: its gonna come at the end of the edition, just like WE did. If it came with 11th they wouldnt need to pull those units, if it was soon theyd say it.
I admire the time you invest into each model, especially basing, and painting. Jay, it's always entertaining to watch your channel. Wish you continued success.
Jay is just a positive fun personality to watch. I don't even play Warhammer, as I'm all in on historical wargaming but damn do I enjoy watching his content. Keep up the good work bro!
Seems to me like Emperor's children are gonna be like a divergent space marine chapter (you take stuff from the space marine codex but have your own special detachment you can take) similar to black templars who have the "No chaplains" stipulation Emperor's children get the "Only Slaanesh dark pact" stipulation it seems like a way they can keep Emperor's children out of the CSM codex so when they make a standalone Emperor's Children codex they don't have to redo the CSM codex.
I feel like they're being intentionally vague in some attempt to avoid spoilers for what they have planned. The most current codex roadmap has that redacted entry alongside SoB and GSC right after 3 similarly stacked codices for the spring that are one each imperial, xenos, and chaos. That seems to indicate that the redacted codex is a chaos army. And why hide it if it's an army that's already released? That eliminates the other 3 god specific armies, in my opinion. I think the EC codex is coming a lot sooner than most are assuming.
The EC Index announcement seems to breakdown like this: it exists -> we're getting EC as a separate army with their own codex it's currently out with CSM codex -> GW needs to let us know for CSM and Daemons that EC is a separate army it's basically just CSM but flavoured -> GW doesn't have everything tooled out yet and are still figuring out their rules "the astropaths can't see anything yet" -> it's not the redacted codex, and they don't want to reveal stuff just yet
Nope. Blood Angels have their own detachment with a detachment ability, stratagems, and enhancements. I don't think Emperor's Children will get one, otherwise they would have mentioned it instead of encouraging players to just use the other detachments in the new codex.
there's a good chance that Emperor's Children will be the faction that Primaris-fy the CSM line, given the lore that Bile has managed to create Primaris CSM
Why do people keep talking about primaris chaos marines?? Basically half the range has already had a size update at this point, *after* primaris space marines were already a thing. Not to mention Fabius Bile has been his own dude not an Emperor's Children affiliate for ages.
Yeah, the noise weaponry works with the new CSM. I didn't like the flat inside of the pauldrons, though, so I reinforced the edges with some thin plasticard, too give them some depth.
When I want to take a break from the trashfire going on in some part of the "fandom", I come here, to a wholesome, actually talented artist and it all seems so far away. Keep doing what you do, always brings a smile to my old face.
They're taking the EC units out from the CODEX but not moving them to legends. Because Lucius and the Noises will be in Codex Emperors Children eventually. They're probably waiting to sell out the Forge World Fulgrim before announcing a plastic version for EC launch.
I read the end of the article as, Emperors Children are definitely coming but they are too far out to announce them. I’m not even convinced that they are too far away, just outside of the window where they want to announce a new army.
I think this may be "Index" that is basically EC stuff bundled in one detachment to use as companion piece with Codex CSM, so in case they'll get Codex GW can simply remove index and have both armies separate.
There is nowhere in the article that says that EC are getting a full index.they are just releasing the lucius and noise marines datasheets online instead of putting them in the csm codex so that when they release EC in full at the end of 10th edition you dont hace EC in both its codex and the CSM codex. Its quite easy to understand if you read the article.
They call it "Index: Emperor's Children" in the article. And I agree with you that it seems like they won't get any rules beyond the datasheets, but that makes it a pretty deceptive title to give it. Should have just called it "Emperor's Children datasheets" since that's all it is.
Fulgrim was a great book, currently 3d printing would be the best way to collect Emporors children, loggyk on cults used to have some but they've been taken down
Jay: maybe he only needs two fingers? Michael Scott: that’s what she said!!! I bet the index drop for EC is a hype for the army coming this summer?? I have not idea!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
To this day, I don't understand why didn't they went with the Space Marine codex approach, and just made a detachment for each monogod legion. The could have used the army rules as detachment abilities.
The index is a way for you to still play EC until the full Codex arrives, they're telling people how to use CSM as EC, which you could do before the CSM Codex released, if Lucius was your Warlord, then you could use Noise Marines as Battleline units, you also had to choose Slaanesh as your Keyword for any Daemons The article is highlighting how to play EC with the current ruleset and why Noise Marines and Lucius have been removed from CSM This means that EC are getting a full Codex, but not yet, the index still isn't ready, when the index is announced, it will highlight some new units and will function like the other Chaos God Marines, we *will* get a new Lucius Model and a Noise Marine kit as well as other EC kits, just probably not right away, Similar to how Angron wasn't released until the end of 9thE
This is basically what they did with World Eater's(not having them in the codex then releasing the army) and Angron/The Lion. So maybe Fulgrim and another loyalist? Leman perhaps if we're going off the emoji thing?
Is it possible that they've put this index out to sort of indicate that they're moving towards making new EC sculpts and models? It seems like they've just sort of announced it before they've really got anything to show yet!
Question from a complet newby. I started my deathguard and first army this week cause I love the visual but I also like the Angron modell. So my question is, is there a way I can justify having an angron in a deathguard army? Like i know from the poorhammer video that you can sup stuff into your army.
I mean it would be kinda difficult to justify but you could try to use angron as a mortarian proxy as the rules are you cannot put world eaters with death guard
@gamer23xd91 that's where the difficulty comes in as deamon primarchs are some of the biggest models in there ranges so there's not much else I could think to use
It's not that Emperor's Children codex isn't coming, it's just that it's coming towards the end of 10th edition, maybe the start of 11th (2025 at the earliest, 2026 most likely). It is, however, and shit teaser that I find hard to understand why they sent it out in the first place.
I started collecting 40k again after over a decade of nothing. Decided to go with Emperors Children as I thought they'd be the next faction to be updated after Thousand sons, Khorne, Death Guard etc. After seeing this video, I'm dissapointed, I could go out and buy a chaos lord and convert it into Luciuos but I was hoping for a new model/models of Slaanesh. But hey, no doubt we'll get more blue boys really soon! Haven't had enough Space Marines 🙄
12:00 it’s literally just going to be how the special loyalist space marine chapters work. The index has all of the chapter/legion specific datasheets, the detachment gets its own rule and stratagems, and all of the normal CSM units are going to be locked behind the CSM codex. I don’t get what’s so confusing about it.
I think the confusing part is how half assed it is. If the index is literally just the CSM index with only slaanesh compatible units and the SAME army rules? There's no point. You are literally just taking noise marines out of CSM and Abbadon out of this index. We can make jokes about how World Eaters lost a ton of chaos units when they broke off, but at least they have their own army rule and detatchment.
@@McFatson Again, it’s LITERALLY the exact same as loyalist marines: just like SM get oath of moment still, EC still gets dark pacts, but the index is going to get its own specific detachment rule.
@@B1GG33 it makes sense to me. EC haven’t been fleshed out with their own codex yet. They don’t have many unique units, they don’t even have their primarch back. It makes sense to me to simply have them as their own, free detachment, because it’s basically confirming that they’re getting their own codex and range refresh, because otherwise they would simply be locked behind the CSM codex as another detachment
What a weird take for EoB, it’s clearly that the CSM codex is coming out and Lucius and Noise Marines aren’t in it cause EC is coming near the end of the edition. So they made an index to contain those two units, it’ll probably have a detachment rule and strategems that aren’t gonna be the same as the actual EC codex detachments
It's weird to me that the Stormcast Eternal lore isn't reflected in either their model design or game mechanics. The fact they lose part of themselves every time they're reforged is a bummer, I guess, but I don't feel it. They seem like really powerful crusaders to me, because that's how they look and play.
I really respect jay for not mentioning much about fem custodies until he’s done his research. No matter his opinion it shows he has great love for the lore and he’s welcome to change
Im pretty sure its getting its own detachment and strats its just honna be more like a free add on than being a whole thing like what their doing to the Darkoath in Age of Sigmar
"Index Emperor's Children" really seems like a misnomer. Honestly I doubt there will be anything at all in it that isn't already in Index Chaos Space Marines. It will have the datasheets and... that's it. No detachment rules, nothing beyond "a guide" for fielding Emperor's Children, ie restrictions without any benefit in return.
While I understand that Slaanesh doesn't have his(her?) own chaos space marine option, lets be honest: Votann are the ones in most need of a range expansion. They basically have only a single option for any single battlefield role. If they were aligned with another faction, this might be okay, but that isn't the case.
There are multiple armies who have sat in that spot multiple editions. Thousand Sons have one unit for each role essentially. I expect Votann will have a second wave sometime this edition. It probably won’t be as large as their first launch but it’ll likely give them a couple options
"Detachments and stratagems is what gives an army its flavor" - notice how much 10th did away with flavourful detachments and stratagems. The fact they didn't give Emperor's Children unique rules yet doesn't surprise me. GW seems to be striving to disappoint lately.
Sorry but don’t understand the confusion. They’re clearly planning to do a separate EC Codex later down the line so the simplest option was to remove their units from the main CSM codex now - otherwise they would have to release a second newCSM codex towards the end of the edition when EC get theirs.
40k 11th edition launch box is going to be [whichever primarch loyalist hates fulgrim most] versus emperor's children lol, and they are going to be those new shiny "primarus chaos marines" fabius bile made with stuff from alpha primus & the new stock of uncorrupted geneseed from deal with the necron guy.
14:30 "It's just gonna be a nude!" Slaaneshi Freudian slip. 😆 I called this happening when you predicted the ECs. GW has been really reluctant to do Slaaneshi stuff for awhile, a handful of models in a small release and then quickly moving on without a mention for years.
Not buying into either of those battle force boxes for two generic looking lords. I'm in the process of converting and magnetizing my own jump pack lord right now. Saving big buy money for 4th ed aos launch
I think you're misunderstanding the Emperor's children Index. It will almost certainly have its own detachment with unique units. Just like Black Templars use the Oath of Moment ARMY RULE, they can EITHER use a codex: Space Marine detachment rule OR their Black templar detachment rule. This will probably be the same, Emperors children will get the CSM army rule, and either choose a CSM detachment or their own unique detachment with strategems
They would have mentioned an Emperor's Children detachment if they were getting one, but all they say is that it will have datasheets (which we already have, lol) plus a "guide" for using Emperor's Children, ie a set of extra restrictions without any rules benefits in return, like having to give everyone the mark of Slaanesh (which might only be available in the Slaves to Darkness detachment) and having to make Lucius your warlord.
My personal opinion, and it is my own. But I think GW is worried to go to hard with Slaanesh and EC in this day and age. Slaanesh has a "reputation" to be a certain way, and now any Slaanesh army has that tagline. (Sexy Chaos God) if they can manage to reset that button and focus on the finesse and way they were in 30K it we will see some amazing EC rules and lore.c I don't know. I'm ranting, but it's been my focus on the topic, GW put themselves in the corner with Slaanesh armies.
Magnus is not a bad guy! He's just misunderstood - he did nothing wrong. Story of the TS is always one of trying to do good and get praise by daddy (Magnus - Emp, Ahriman - Magnus) and ultimately getting shunned for it :D
Just wanna point out, the Stormcast slowly losing their minds every time they reincarnate isn't something they started with Yndrasta, that's basically one of their main "things" about them.

@@Hello-bp8dxthe problem is that the other 3 all have their own army rule, and so it is very odd for them to do this
@@B1GG33 it makes sense to me.
Why didn't they mention a detachment of their own anywhere in the article? Seems like something worth mentioning...
0:23 love you Jay
What a weird take for EoB, it’s clearly that the CSM codex is coming out and Lucius and Noise Marines aren’t in it cause EC is coming near the end of the edition. So they made an index to contain those two units, it’ll probably have a detachment rule and strategems that aren’t gonna be the same as the actual EC codex detachments
"Ruffle guy" would make a nice Rogue Trader
The tau strike team have a 4+ overwatch but realistically you don't want them close ever
I scrolled down the article looking for information on new EC releases... there was none!
Emperor's children picture is so old that they used the old cadians for the promotional picture
Im pretty sure its getting its own detachment and strats its just honna be more like a free add on than being a whole thing like what their doing to the Darkoath in Age of Sigmar
I still have an entire 30k army to assemble, let alone, paint. Also have Primaris Marines, but most are tabletop ready. So much work to do.😅😅😮
"Index Emperor's Children" really seems like a misnomer.
I'm still hoping that agents leak turns into something good. It would be nice to see the AoS 40k trade go the other way for a change.
Sorry but don’t understand the confusion. They’re clearly planning to do a separate EC Codex later down the line so the simplest option was to remove their units from the main CSM codex now - otherwise they would have to release a second newCSM codex towards the end of the edition when EC get theirs.
Dammit! It's my birthday today and imma splurge on 40k😤😤😤
I would love to see a nude data card for Lucius the Eternal
I thought it was clear. It's a supplement. It's going to function like space Marines but for EC.
I'm pretty sure the index is just going to be a place holder for until EC codex comes out without GW having to remove CSM codex stuff.
14:30 "It's just gonna be a nude!" Slaaneshi Freudian slip. 😆
I called this happening when you predicted the ECs. GW has been really reluctant to do Slaaneshi stuff for awhile, a handful of models in a small release and then quickly moving on without a mention for years.
GW is relectuent to release anything except marines
By my roots,
by my words,
by my twisted thoughts and innocent deeds.
She who thirsts will devour the galaxy.
I listened to this episode while building some aggressors.
They would have mentioned an Emperor's Children detachment if they were getting one, but all they say is that it will have datasheets (which we already have, lol) plus a "guide" for using Emperor's Children, ie a set of extra restrictions without any rules benefits in return, like having to give everyone the mark of Slaanesh (which might only be available in the Slaves to Darkness detachment) and having to make Lucius your warlord.
we need jump pack cannoness so we can finally take them against after 12 years
Emperors children have always been hamsters in power armor
love the sponsor at the intro. half as interuptive :)
My personal opinion, and it is my own. But I think GW is worried to go to hard with Slaanesh and EC in this day and age. Slaanesh has a "reputation" to be a certain way, and now any Slaanesh army has that tagline. (Sexy Chaos God) if they can manage to reset that button and focus on the finesse and way they were in 30K it we will see some amazing EC rules and lore.c
I don't know. I'm ranting, but it's been my focus on the topic, GW put themselves in the corner with Slaanesh armies.
Ehhh... fans always overemphasise the sexual parts of Slaanesh. Noise Marines have very little to do with sexiness.
Best line in the vid I “maybe he can do a lot with a little”😅
OPR has codex for Lust Brothers
Magnus is not a bad guy! He's just misunderstood - he did nothing wrong. Story of the TS is always one of trying to do good and get praise by daddy (Magnus - Emp, Ahriman - Magnus) and ultimately getting shunned for it :D
They are probably still working on the index. There will probably be more stuff in e future
To me it feels like the index is just going to be a stat test for the codex the release in a year or so.
As a emperor's children player even though their is no real substance, i am so happy!
Did you forget Kroot exist jay? Kroot lives matter
Just wanna point out, the Stormcast slowly losing their minds every time they reincarnate isn't something they started with Yndrasta, that's basically one of their main "things" about them.
They keep messing with the rules so much, I keep being pushed out of the game. I don't want to learn anymore damn changes. I think I'm done with 40k.
Fulgrim is the next Primarch to return.
