Well done job and a very well made video 🤩I enjoyed the fast paced storytelling, no dull moments and a lot of humor! My vote: I think you should go for a street tracker, it's a style you don't see too often. However, I am sure it will be great whatever you decide to make out of it ☺☺
Thank you mate I’m really glad that you picked up on that storytelling 💪 I put a lot of work into these videos as I know you know what it’s like being a UA-camr yourself. It’s really nice to get this kind of feedback. And I think you might be right about the street tracker idea, but we will see 😉
I have one of these. These shafties are being recognised now as a great bike. I would like to see a stripped back bare bones street tracker, light weight and good handling are my favourite things.
I have such warm place in my heart for the XJ650. It was the first street bike I purchased, and I rode it with love for twenty years. With a jet kit and some drilled discs it was smooth, fast and totally reliable. Loved that pie plate locomotive headlight. Ha! I suppose it's the least imaginative response, but can't imagine the XJ as anything but a cafe racer. Cheers!
I am currently rebuilding one of these the last couple of years. Im stuck with creating a new wiring loom and i cant wait to see what you do with it so i can pull some inspiration to get back on it. Buzzing 🤘🏻🇮🇪
When your mate said, "I've got a spare rebuilt carby for this motor", I hope you replied, "what choo talk'n' about Willis!?"... Cafe racer for me. Smooth lines never get old. And you'd have to change the name of your channel otherwise... Great content. Stu. Melbourne
man ,that brings back memories, I had a 1982 maxim xj550 and it sounded like that , with the rough racy idle. it was chain drive, I got in alot of trouble on it being an 18 year old kid in 1982. I'd like to see it as a street tracker. great buy!
Great vid Dan, I wish my bike would come to life, I've never head it run. So you've done a cafe racer, and scrambler, so how about going to the street tracker for this one. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, the open pipe's a keeper!!.
I can’t wait to see what I do with it either haha 😂 you know I will start going one direction and totally flip left field but street tracker seems to be winning this one
Brekkie vid Dan cheers buddy .. I'm gonna go with the street tracker you've done the cafe racer and scrambler already , everybody else seems to do those 2 to death and being honest I dont think you can improve on the look of either as your last ones were brilliant. Good choice on the bike and for that price why not . Cheers buddy
Street tracker gets my vote, another great video by the way. Regarding the old starter that was spinning backwards, my TTR250 starter spins the wrong way if you accidentally put the outer casing on the wrong way around, don't ask how I know 😂 Looking forward to more vids
Seeing you building side covers for the cb400 I reckon you could build a nice fully faired retro inspired sportbike like those 60's isle of man grand prix bikes..
Good to c a few of these old XJ 650s about I had for a few years I thought it a great bike there weakness is the alternator/starter chain and starter clutch other wise solid engines street tracker for me thanx for the mint videos
Great vid yet again Dan, thank you. So happy you got the old Yam going. Personally I think it would make an awesome cafe racer, but you haven't done a flat tracker yet and I'm quite curious as to how you would make it look, so flat tracker for me!
Nice job! Well you’ve done a scrambler and cafe racer, so I guess it’s time for a tracker! Would also love to see a bobber, not with this bike but maybe someday? 🔥
I have an XJ750 scrambler/tracker mix. Actually bought it for 800 AUD and plowed a ton of time and money into rebuilding it. Would be fun to see your version of that, for inspiration :)
I made the same bike into a scrambler. I love the look with the offroad tires🔥 I had to leave the exhaust original due to environmental laws but I would be curious to see with what solutions could come up with
Nice video Dan, looking forward to see which way you go. Your bike, your call, but for me it would be cafe racer or street tracker. Ride safe and take care mate. Cheers
@CafeRacerGarage make whatever u want Dan! Its gonna be great anyways, whatever u get your hands on turns into gold. Personally tracker or bobber, can’t wait for more video about this build! Got the same project bike!😄🙌🏼
I vote street tracker or flat tracker. The four cylinder is a bit to big for the scrambler aesthetic, and something about the character of this bike just doesn't quite fit with cafe racer for me (though I've been known to be wrong before).

Thanx mate and you’re right they are very cool bikes

When your mate said, "I've got a spare rebuilt carby for this motor",

Cafe racer for me.

Yeah I think I’ve use that line on him way too many times and I’m sure he’s hurt his entire life, but I still find it funny.
Hi Dan, good job on getting the bike started, looking forward to this build, i would like to see it as a cafe racer.
I had one and the engine was good but the brakes where rubbish. So I sold it after 18 months and bought a XJ900.
The XJ900 was a lot better, did many trips with that bike.
man ,that brings back memories, I had a 1982 maxim xj550 and it sounded like that , with the rough racy idle. it was chain drive, I got in alot of trouble on it being an 18 year old kid in 1982. I'd like to see it as a street tracker. great buy!
Thanx mate and yes I think I’m possibly doing a street tracker as that seems to be what everyone wants to see :)
Great vid Dan, I wish my bike would come to life, I've never head it run. So you've done a cafe racer, and scrambler, so how about going to the street tracker for this one. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, the open pipe's a keeper!!.

Scrambler is the way to go as its aesthetics are proned towards it. Moreover, scramblers are beautiful looking machines.
Cafe Racer. Love watching those bike come to life.
Me too 😀
Brekkie vid Dan cheers buddy .. Yes Gary I think you are right and I think street tracker is winning this one by a long shot 😮
I would love to see you turning this thing into a scrambler for sure!
A Scramblerbuild would be interesting
The in line four would make a great cafe racer 😍
Street tracker gets my vote, another great video by the way. Regarding the old starter that was spinning backwards, my TTR250 starter spins the wrong way if you accidentally put the outer casing on the wrong way around, don't ask how I know 😂 Looking forward to more vids
Thanx mate yep we all learn by mistakes
Cafe racer, different tank and all new sub frame with twin shocks
I think the same way 😁
street tracker, paint the chassis with lime green & paint the body black with lime green stripe. it will be 🔥🔥
Street tracker will be awesome!
Street Tracker all the way! Feel like there's plenty of scramblers and cafe racers for the moment... great video mate!
Thank you 🙏 positive feedback on a street tracker indeed
Street tracker would be my absolute favorite with the scrambler a close runner up. So many cafe racers already, too easy
I got an XJR400. Every single bolt on the carbs was seized and threaded. Took me 8 months but I got them back to new condition.
Sounds like you had your work cut out for you instead 😲
Hi, well done, It's lovely to hear the first sound. Would be nice to turn it into a scrambler for a change. Thanks. Gus
Thank you mate I’m currently leading towards scrambler or street tracker at this stage due to everybody’s feedback 🤔
It looks like it may be a street tracker from all the comments I’m getting
Your video brings back the memories when I built my Xj650.Turn it into a cafe racer.
Good memoriesI I hope 👍
@@CafeRacerGarage sort of ;-) bike is not running since I left the petcock open and flooded the engine with petrol :-(
Great vid yet again Dan, thank you. So happy you got the old Yam going. Personally I think it would make an awesome cafe racer, but you haven't done a flat tracker yet and I'm quite curious as to how you would make it look, so flat tracker for me!
Thank you mate. I think you might be on to something 👍
Nice job! Well you’ve done a scrambler and cafe racer, so I guess it’s time for a tracker! Would also love to see a bobber, not with this bike but maybe someday? 🔥
Street Tracker would be awesome to see!
Has to be a scrambler
I'm also working on a XJ650 Maxim cafe racer build, it'll be nice to get some inspiration of yours.
I have an XJ750 scrambler/tracker mix. Actually bought it for 800 AUD and plowed a ton of time and money into rebuilding it. Would be fun to see your version of that, for inspiration :)
That’s awesome mate and it’s a great platform to build off in my opinion
It’s cafe racer garage - make a cafe racer and push the boundaries as hard as you can…. then get it registered in QLD :).
Hope to see this become some kind of series
It sure will 👍
I think the XJ 650 power delivery makes for a great street tracker.
Not wrong
I like all 3 mods, but i opt for the scrambler or street tracker
I made the same bike into a scrambler. I love the look with the offroad tires🔥 I had to leave the exhaust original due to environmental laws but I would be curious to see with what solutions could come up with
If we do a scrambler I will probably lift the exhaust somehow
Nice video Dan, looking forward to see which way you go. Your bike, your call, but for me it would be cafe racer or street tracker. Ride safe and take care mate. Cheers
Thank you mate and street tracker seems to be in the lead by a long shot 😮
@CafeRacerGarage make whatever u want Dan! Its gonna be great anyways, whatever u get your hands on turns into gold. Personally tracker or bobber, can’t wait for more video about this build! Got the same project bike!😄🙌🏼
That’s awesome and thank you mate 👍
Street Tracker for sure. Cafe Racers have been done to death (sorry) and Scramblers should only be a narrow Single or V-Twin.
Street tracker gets my vote
Street tracker please! Cool vid!
Cafe racer🏍️🔥🔥
Street Tracker man, ✌️
I vote street tracker or flat tracker. The four cylinder is a bit to big for the scrambler aesthetic, and something about the character of this bike just doesn't quite fit with cafe racer for me (though I've been known to be wrong before).
Go for a street tracker, round out the collection!
I like the way you think
Street tracker for sure !!
Do a scrambler, that's the one that will look good 😉
Street tracker 👌
Cafe Racer please and make it purple and copper coloured
Should do like a cafe meets brat or something like combine 2 worlds and make something new
Tracker.. definitely
Tracker!!! 100%
I would say something other than a cafe.
I vote Scrambler.!!! Love your Vids Man! ❤
Since it's more toward a touring bike originally i'd say make it a scrambler man.
Thanx mate 👍
I’d say scrambler!
Street tracker ✅
I'm voting scrambler 😀😀
Cafe
scrambler might good
I think you can remove the air box by removing the back tire.
Unfortunately I don’t think the rear tyre was the issue here
Late, but street tracker!!!
make caffe racer !
I bought a xv1000 tr1 81' just few days ago in the same way as you , but i haven't been able to turn it on yet i have problems with starter
It’s always a pleasure when you figure it out and I’m sure you will 👍
Street tracker!
got to be a cafe racer, there never was a 4 cylinder scrambler and street trackers are neither one thing or the other
scrambler please🙏
Scrambler!
Just build something fun! These styles are merely guidelines anyway.
So true
cafe racer, always :)
Mix it up. Street Tracker
I vote scrambler or tracker!
Whats with the Virago?
Greetings from Croatia!
What do you mean what’s with the Virago? It’s looking awesome so far
I haven't seen it sooo long... You were waiting for parts... Did I miss some video???
Greetings from Croatia!
Café Racer…only.
Would it be possible for us to see a bobber build for this XJ? 😅🙏
It could definitely be done, I personally don’t think this is quite the right platform for a bobber and I might have another bike lined up for that 🤫
@@CafeRacerGarage Cool no worries, I guess a street scrambler would be my vote, I'm looking forward!
Cafe racer please
Cafe!
😍😍😍
Sweet! Street tracker is my vote. It seems like there’s way too many people building scramblers lately and not enough street trackers.
Thanks mate 😊

Scrambler but those wheels are hideous. Hated them then hate them more now
Yes I feel the same way about the wheels. Not the best looking rims are they
Cafe racer
Street tracker👍🏼
Sellers like that are usually crook’s
You just never know sometimes
Shaft drive, no chain,,, she's begging for some off road fun, scrambler
Street tracker mate. Love the videos, great inspiration and so good how you explain the small details. Keep up the good work!
