This Disaster Save Might Be The Worst I've Been Sent

- Today we try and take on what might be the worst disaster save I've tried yet. On Hearts of Iron 4 we take command of Germany which is 93% towards capitulation and has lost most of it's territory.

*This one was quite the ballache, what do you think?*
you showed us your competence once more :)
U rambled the Soviets
I haven't watched it yet, but I can already assure you, you're a pro in HOI and can fix it. If not I'm going to eat my hat.
Gave it the old rambler try
Alex we all know even I who hasn’t finished the vid is that this is gonna be quite the doozy if u chose it and also I mean cmon Alex we just wanna torture u

Thank you so much for saving my disaster! Those who wonder how the Soviets pushed me back. Let me tell you that in this timeline France didn't surrender so easily and I underestimated the Soviets by putting a very few people at the Soviet front. Thank you so much again for saving the Fatherland and teaching me to be a better player. Also I hope that others learned from the video! 🙂
edit: and I own only the vanilla game, so that's why there were no spies and stuff like that

the industry research is amongst the most important things you do in the game, don't neglect it.
try to design w20 and w40 units, w12 tanks truly is a mistake waiting to bite you (just search for tutorials if you want in dept intel)
use the army/air xp to upgrade your key items, i.e. tanks/fighters/cas a couple percent here a couple percent there sometimes makes the difference especialy about air it's a runaway effect (less accidents, more won fihts more exp -> better air squads killing more than loosing -> getting more xp becoming even better -> .. but works great with ground troops aswell)
@@TheyCalledMeT I'm really thankful for your comment. Honestly, that w12 tank template from the internet or idk. They said that's it's good. Those bastards have lied to me. I'll try to be aware of what you wrote during my next game and I'll tell you how it went.

Is literally just Germany in 1944 but slightly to the left on the map.
I like how when you start playing HOI4 you are so thankful that you have the AI and then once you become good you hate them because they don't understand the concept of supply limits.
Thanks Field marshal Alex Von Rambler for saving that game!

what sort of curse does alex have that he plays at his best when he's tryign to fix other people's disaster saves, when every other time he plays its a mess and he makes so many mistakes?
He genuinely tries in these games I think lmao
Alex has the power to play at her best when she’s trying to fix other people’s disasters. In every other match, she plays like a mess - making mistakes, losing focus, and generally playing below her capabilities. This power is the source of her nickname, “Curse of the Mistake Maker,” and the root of her greatest frustration. Because of this curse, she’s spent years trying to tame her tendency to make mistakes and screw things up for the team.
@@trentonking764 she?????
genuinely worried when the rambler thought manpower was going to be a problem because he saw the conscription law and didn't seem to notice about 8% of the country was currently mobilized
He also had about 1000 planes flying without a mission
In the wake of the Great War, the U.S. military underwent significant change. One of the first changes was the passage of the Military Selective Service Act in 1917, which conscripted men between the ages of 21 and 36 for service in the military. President Woodrow Wilson initially supported the conscription law, but he seemed to ignore its effect on the ability of the U.S. to wage war. By the end of the first year of the war, nearly 8% of the country was in some stage of military mobilization.
All Glory to the encirclement master!
I just realized that this save game might be of someone trying to get a steam achievement for having zero manpower on scraping the barrel
Nah I think there are easier. Ways to achieve That
I just picked this game up like a week or two ago and I am determined to learn it. I've so far sat through several tutorials. Each time I feel like the information gets absorbed a little better. THEN I came across your tutorial playing Germany and I sort of followed alongside, watching a bit, then playing a bit and trying to remember all of the moves you made and everything. I am still not very good at the game but I at the very least know what's going on. So thanks for making that tutorial.
are you good at it now
@@xeenoz2417 I'm not bad at it by any means. There is a lot to know, though.
There really is no "stopping point" in the game either, no final goal or objective that you can be like "I beat the game!"
Some people define beating it as taking over the whole map. Other people define beating it as starting as a smaller/unusual country and merely surviving.
The last game I played was my most successful one. I was playing Nazi Germany and together with the Axis powers we basically took over the entire world. It was so massive of a game it actually began lagging on my computer, and my computer is pretty beefy.
It's definitely worth going through the growing pains and learning though.
I know you've mentioned getting a bit fatigued with HoI but these videos are so entertaining. I've only been watching you for about a year and I always give it a like, you always make great quality stuff!

small tip: if you want really budget fast tank division use cavalry instead of motorized for organization. Cavalry gives even more org then motorized.
it depends. Cavalry has max speed 6.4 which is slower than medium tank itself. If you install that on heavy tank division, it still has purpose but it will reduce its hardness (which is why most MP Heavy Tank template use Mechanized which has higher hardness than Motorized). I use pure cavalry only to cover my frontline because they are a little faster than regular infantry so my tank division will not push too far
Cavalry gets no doctrine bonuses you guys are the reason why these disaster save games exist

Alright new video idea. Teach people how to make divisions because I'm disappointed that some people have 12 width tanks in 1942.
Hopefully in a month or three they will be back to the norm due to new territory widths.
This video will teach you how to make divisions. It will also discuss the importance of these divisions in World War II. This video will primarily be focused on the European theater, but I will be discussing the Pacific War as well. This video will also focus on the US Army, US Marines, and US Navy.
The newest DLC looks like it's addressing some supply issues and I like what I've seen thus far. The tank designer is going to be a cool addition to the game.
For those wondering how to do it. Consolidate air in the Netherlands, delete 2nd filed marshal, delete tanks, make fighter 2s, make infantry equipment, make support equipment, cancel the rest. Stabilize the front and only protect your territory. Romania and Hungary can easily hold their own. Make small pushes where you have green air. Also, make sure to make your infantry plain 20 width with shovel and you win by 1943 the rest is easy.
I see well the british landing in hamburg, taking 200k german men and immediatly ship them to france
Kylo Rambler: "I want every plane we have to fire on that man (Stalin)"
Never had a game like this, but I certainly had a disaster savegame. I played USA 1939 start (cringe I know), and decided I was going to build a large navy. The panay incident resulted in me demanding repairations, which Japan agreed to. I united much of my navy into the Pacific fleet, staying out of European affairs. Japan finally attacked, but I held in the Philippines and used my navy to annihilate the Japanese fleet. I used the Philippines to land in Taiwan and push them out. My island hopping campaign led me to Okinawa and the Caroline Islands. I seized Iwo Jima as well. I started to bomb Japan with hundreds of Strat Bombers, and tried to land. This is where it all falls apart. I landed on Satsuma, taking Nagasaki. But then I ran into issues. Dozens of Japanese divisions pushed me back, and annhialated Patton's army. I barely escaped with 3 units to Okinawa. I had no idea how to group armies and wound up with two armies, one under Eisenhower, and one under Patton. They were horribly over the 24 division limit. I then began to land in Korea and Indochina, but after a long campaign that lasted over a year in Korea, Patton was forced to retreat due to Chinese and Manchu troops. The Indochina campaign resulted in another encirclement, which my small army under Clark did not survive. I made a second landing in Japan with both Eisenhower and Patton, and capitulated Japan, but their Chinese puppet still needed to capitulate. It was now 1944. I called it quits and started a new game. I came back over 6 months later and saw what was causing me so much grief. I had 86 units, -300,000 Infantry Equipment, lacking artillery, support equipment, and factories. The only thing I did have was Nuclear reactors, lots of them. I reorganized my armies, trained new units, stopped all offensives, researched nukes, got back all my equipment, and was ready. I landed army groups in Indochina and Korea for the second time, but this time it was different. I had 20 widths and tanks now. I pushed the mostly Chinese forces in Indochina back to Hanoi, before they stabilized the line, and I managed to push into Manchukuo and capitulate them. I then stabilized the front with China, and prepared. Infrastructure was built, Ports were established, nukes were prepared, and the air force gained superiority. I began the fourth and final offensive by nuking the dozens of units in Indochina, and taking Beijing. I pushed deep past the Guangxi Clique and Yunnan, taking Chonqing soon after. The northern army would seize all Japanese holdings and encircle the remaining Chinese forces. They capitulated soon after and I set up China as a large mainland puppet, and took Indochina and Japan for myself. Then Germany declared war. I decided I was done permanently and considered it saved.
It’s one thing to lose hoi4 as Germany, but to be pushed out of your own borders and become an entirely different nation is just hysterically sad
Honestly this was the most legitimately impressive save

First thing i noticed on the initial state : half his army blocks didnt have generals assigned. My dude; at least give them a BAD general...
I would have taken Hungary's trash divisions if for no other reason to have more control of the supply drain
you're clearly talented, dude
Alex did ya know you’ve been referenced in a niche strategy game? No joke, look it up. You’ve got your own agent character in “sigma conspiracy”
If only the Reich had Alex during the latter stages of the war.
Well, not actually, cos of the evil, but you know what I mean
"Oh wow 8.54 million man power? That's fantastic for Germany! How on earth did he manage that?"
*checks more closely
"Oh dear nevermind. I hope those senior citizens fight like hell."
I was playing as Germany in Ironman; I took Poland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and the Czechs by myself which cost me a lot in man power. Declared war on Norway and then they join the Soviets along with twelve or more Asian warlords who were communist & Republican Spain. I withdrew from Norway (abandoning that campaign). With only Three armies, one defending occupied France and the other two pushing into Russia (I some how had the early advantage.). Made short progress into Russia before the full Soviet army showed up and the Asian warlords. I somehow inflicted 6 million casualties on the Soviets with just 48 divisions and my manpower draining (down to about 30k). I just built forts where the front line was and held onto it. Eventually my manpower and industry started to beef up again and now I have over 200 divisions, 200k in the airforce, and 150k in the Navy. Great Britain came in clutch by taking over Republican Spain and it freed up another army. Seven different armies on the Eastern front and 12 divisions defending from naval invasions. I managed after two years to capitulate the Soviets (with them having just over 12 million casualties) and am now well on my way to taking over all of Asia. Currently in the year of 1945.
Russia: winning the war
*Alex* (has joined the game)
Russia:....
Why doesn't Alex just delete most of his infantry if his allies have too many devisions? He could probably make more tank devisions and planes to push. He could also just not join big alliances or get new big allies like in this game.
"Why doesn't Alex delete his infantry if his allies have too many divisions"
He needs to hold his own land because
1. More interesting to viewer
2. Easier to manage for him
3. Is more worthwhile than deleting all your troops.
"Make more tanks and just push"
Tanks need infantry backup. AI isn't reliable.
"Not join big alliances"
he didn't set up the save
Doesn't matter if you have only two infantry in a region the late game AI will literally pump everything into anything they can. I've seen late games where the only way to move was to use cheats because the AI will throw like 40 units in the Amazon stalling an easy offensive
@@b1indmailman except this is Germany, heavily industrialized region, in the middle of Europe.
Why would there be any supply problems here, enough to warrant deleting all of your infantry?
@@FishwicksREAL He called multiple nations into the war in this video. In past videos he joins the allies and is then surprised by how many allied troops there are.
I was implying that he should keep some infantry to help the armour in offensives (to hold the incirclement and protect the tanks). His allies will have to spread their units accross the rest of the front, meaning less supply issues. It would still be good content because Alex would still push. Nobody is watching the units just holding the line.
@@johnistvanffy8603 So you don't like that he joins big alliances, yet want him to delete his infantry so that his allies cover it
Without a doubt, one of the most solid Rambler-performances ever!
1:45 I'm a noob at the game who always gets my ass handed to me by either the Netherlands or Belgium. But this right here still hurts my soul.
I think I counted 79 divisions in that chonky encirclement
Well ok just saw the second one... I counted 125 but some divisions are covered so it's even more surely
19:20 This is what happens when you micro at 5 speed, Alex.
Lets increase supply here.
*Builds dockyards like a chad*
So I was playing as France and I got pushed into the Piedmont region of Italy while at war with Italy, Germany, and Britain yet somehow I beat them all
If have oil as Germany, you could come back even from 3 percent away from caputilation.
Petition too call doggi chonk, Donk
Definitely one of the most entertaining save games nice job!
The stretched honk never fails to make me laugh
The AI supply issue is the very reason I avoid playing any nation that is not on the main continent of Europe. Hell, that's why a D-Day is so hard at times; I can always land with ease, but the the AI is like "We're in business!" Then sends like 250+ divisions into the area with only a level 5 and 6 port to supply the entire front. Easy fix would to just program the AI to notice how much supply is in the area and avoid it. Let the player have priority in the area and AI have secondary.
Watching him do half decent with saves like this while I struggle with a regular game messes me up.

there was a hoi4 game where I was playing as the soviets trying to stop Germany. Was about to go for a massive encirclement with my tanks when a peace treaty notification popped out blocked my screen. lost 16 tank divisions. very sad moment. there were also some motorized divisions but I didn't care about them.
