Black Sci-Fi - Section 1

Extract from the excellent 1992 documentary, Black Sci-Fi, produced and directed by Terrence Francis for Moonlight Films and broadcast on BBC2 as part of the Birthrights series.
The documentary focuses on Black science fiction in literature, film and television and features interviews with Octavia Butler, Samuel R. Delany, Mike Sargent, Steven Barnes and Nichelle Nichols.
In this extract, Octavia Butler discusses how her interest in science fiction developed and the genre's potential for exploring new ideas and ways of being.

Hi Tim - I wish I had the full documentary but the extracts here are all I was able to record at the time (way back then!). Don't know if it's worth contacting the BBC or the production company (Moonlight Films) - as a contributor to the doc I'd have thought the least you're entitled to is a copy of the show!

No unfortunately I didn't. I did speak with the filmmakers within the last 2 years but have since lost contact. One can Dream:-)
