Just goes to show just how important it is to have someone like Shawn in the recovered vehicle..... 🙂 It takes courage/confidence to share the bad with the good...Thanks for sharing... 🙂
No shit bro! That never needed to see the light of day but it's kind of how Rory is. Here I am, good and bad, take it or leave it. I'll take it. Thanks for sharing.
Any true off roader knows there are risks while out playing. The main thing is no one was injured . Great recovery team Trailmater, even with the bruised ego, you rock ❤
If Mike or Shawn are in the Can-Am, that doesn't happen. Part way through the vid, I was saying to myself, "That dude is riding the brakes way hard" . On a different note, Rory is like a rockstar. People yelling his name everywhere he goes.
Things Don't always go as planned or figured. As you said it is what it is. Just keep doing what you're doing. Love watching your videos. Thanks, Rory , Mike and Shawn.
Ok so it just can't be said enough: Your honesty and ability to share things with your fans is a huge piece of the appeal (for me at least). You are more relatable, and I appreciate the transparency. Btw; I LOVED hearing "TRAIL MATER!" from the people trailside when you topped the hill early on. Don't ever stop being you, Rory.
First thought is that Trail Mater is a beast and Rory has confidently and competently trained that beast. When you're working with someone who's not part of your team, the unexpected can happen--it takes some time working together as a team to learn to think alike and apply past experience in tandem. Lessons were learned and everyone survived to enjoy another day. Honestly it kind of looked like Paul towing Ben at the Off Road Wrecker Games for a moment. It's always entertaining and educational to watch your videos. Thanks!
Way to go Rory and team. I love that you and Matt and Robbie and Paul all show us the mistakes and the failures as well as the successes. Channel is getting a lot more fun to watch. Thanks.
Ooopp ! That was a ouchie that wasn't expected on the roll over.! I enjoy all the camera work that Mike does when he rides with you ! The undercarriage shots of the truck is wicked cool! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures Sir ! Its always fun to ride along with y'all ! ✌️❤️🙏
What you're not perfect? You're not perfect. Nobody is. Part of what your viewers are drawn to is you live in the real world, do a real job, and you show reality. Another part of what attracts and keeps your audience is you also show how you deal with it. And that's more important than owning the mistake. How you deal with it.
Thanks for keeping it real! Also, for leaving the muttered "shit" in the edit I'm impressed with the new guy; I'm hoping it was on purpose, he's a genius or an idiot. 999 times out of 1,000 towing like that would have been a non issue. You might be better off with rigid cross links or non-customer brakeman.
I ran it back over and over. I think I saw skid marks, but I was convinced the driver locked it up when the wheel in the air was not turning as he went over. "Bruised ego" means improved performance for the big men that can learn. This will never happen again because Rory is a big man. Good work all, thanks for posting.
Glad the customer is okay. Just goes to show you that Shawn and Mike do more than simply ride in the tow vehicle (reference the Tow Truck Games videos). Thanks for sharing.
That first ridge is one way trail. Where the sign is, it becomes a two way trail as the exit is just to the left but on a lower shelf of that same ridge. You can see the exit towards the end of the video.
Got to love the undercarriage recording. At one point the rear dualies appeared t be turning in opposite directions and the front tires appeared to be in reverse. Too fun to see. The "Roll" was nice & slow. Good to see the driver was properly harnessed in to prevent injury.
Hey, Stuff Happens ! At least the fella was not hurt. The rig survived. The bruse to the ego will pass into history and all will be good again. thanx for the honesty Rory.
Rory that's why you should have only your guys piloting the towed vehicles , that way you don't have lack of experience working against you. Clearly that wasn't your fault what so ever and had Mike been back there he would have known what not to do in that situation. Great video as always anyway. Thanks for all the sharing you do
Hey man, when you're working with people who don't know ( half ) what you know things are bound happen. I'm just glad that you had the wherewithal to know that it "might" happen and to watch him. Good on ya Rory!!!!
I just love watching a truck with 4 corner leaf springs killin out there on those trails, proving you don't need all those fancy 4 links, 3 links, coil overs, or ORI's to be a boss out on the highest rated trails. Keep up the great work fellas, and I'll keep on loving watching!
I got used to seeing you and your team do the impossible, a simple flop snuck up and got you. Reaffirmed to me the skills you all have that go so unappreciated, you all are simply amazing!
I already thought: oh-oh, no Shawn controlling the pulled rig and... yep, there is the booboo, lol. Still think you are THE BEST recovery man on youtube Rory. Hugs from Belgium. BTW, thank YOU for taking us along on your job.
Not many people would’ve shown that but you have enough trust in your abilities and your customers have enough trust in you and your abilities that little mishap won’t bother you or your business at all!!! Can’t be perfect every day! 😂
Can't blame yourself for the role over he was on the brakes really hard the back tires lock up a couple of times before it went over and great video keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe and great job with the recovering
Don't sweat it, no one's perfect, shit happens! Your still a pillar to your community, you guys are doing great things and helping people, don't forget that!
I personally don't call that a failure, given that terrain and the sand, etc., and adding to the fact your people weren't in it instead. If it were on flat ground then that would be different. There are very very few people that would do what you do. 👍👍👍
RORI...YES, WE KNOW, YOUR MINDSET IS STILL ON THE WRECKER GAMES...!!!! IT'S OKAY... WE FORGIVE YOU..!!!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO... THINGS HAPPENS...!!!!
You are still the guy I would call if I was out there broken down. I do recoveries every day out here in the New Mexico desert but what you do takes a whole different kind of skills! I have mad respect for you and your team! Keep up the good work.
Having Shawn the trail shaman is paramount 😂 Goes to show how skilled Shawn really is and how much trust you have with each other in these recoveries. Shawn is a hero 💪
It's so nice to see you keep it real. Good or bad. It happens. You offer the service and very good at it. We all know if we play things happen. Thanks for bring us along. Awesome county out there.
Stuff happens all that matter is no one was hurt and that at the end everyone had a smile on their faces! Keep doing great work Rory! At leasts it was a side by side and not an actual vehicle where real body damage would of happened!
The only thing you could have done different is had Mike in the side by side and the customer in the cab of the wrecker. But if the customer insisted on being in the side by side. I don't see why Rory would take the blame like that. It was totally the customers fault that it rolled. He was on the brakes which caused the side. Don't be so hard on yourself Rory.
Funny that Merlin just did a Razor one-wheel drive recovery also. Ya, first time for everything and always impossible to control the direction of a rig with the tired locked-up.
You are a classy man! You know when to recognize mistakes (which happen to us all). More importantly, you take corrective action to prevent a future incident, such as finding a permanent home for your headsets. Good job!!
It only takes a moment for things to go sideways. Even a crew as experienced as Rory and Mike have issues at times. The part that impressed me the most was how the situation was handled afterward. Check the driver then take care of the situation, no panic, no rushing around and making the situation worse. Just cool, smooth operators. I should have mentioned this during the wrecker games, but Rory and team put on a masters class of off-road recovery. They may not have been as entertaining (destructive), but they did an excellent job of traversing the trail with a vehicle in tow.
Everyone knows rory and the trail mater crew are the top of the line class act that everybody strives to be I believe Eric from BSF recovery team put it the best way at the record games. If this was a real recovery we'd be looking for the 1st exit and safest way out but this is not a real recovery. This is a game and we're into the end.
It’s surprising that there aren’t a lot more times where a vehicle that Rory is recovering is damaged or rolls over, I’ve been watching for around 2 years now and I haven’t lost interest and I’m still amazed with Rory’s Off Road Driving and Recovery skills, Keep it up Rory, you got the other channels beat and I think your the most skilled and best Off Road Recovery Driver, I’ve seen you do some amazing recovery’s and pull off some awesome driving.
Narrow wheel base and the instability of being only the back wheels means the smallest mistakes such as a break lock up can and certainly did result in this rollover. That’s the risks of off roading. Well done team trailmater. As always truth and professional till the end.
I think the piece I saw that came across the best was the character of yourself Rory. RollOver, not dragged on ground, epic spotting! Straight away, are you OK? To straight back in your rig, body language screaming I'm disgusted with myself yet straight away to there's an issue, solution required, preformed and perfected a successful recovery. The professionalism was outstanding! Good luck with what ever the outcome is!
Glad everyone's okay. Bruised egos are way easier to fix than broken bones. Thanks for showing us all that things don't always go right - and that you guys still keep your composure and professionalism when things go wrong. Also big shout out to the editing and not making it more dramatic than it needed to be.
Rorey we both no that they all can’t get recovered perfectly for sure!!! We try to recover every one perfectly and with out further injury but that is not always possible for sure and can definitely make one feel bad when the person getting recovered doesn’t always see things the same way!!! Hopefully he understands and isn’t to mad and like you said it was definitely a nice and slow roll and on the sand also!!! Awesome job buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!!
Your Human just like anyone else shit happens was heavy tow operator for years nothing worse than losing anything on the old ego but you have to brush it off keep doing what you do great vidg Rory
Great job guys! I’ll throw my 2 cents in….in that terrain and the number of inexperienced (tourist) drivers trying to put their toys to the test, I’m surprised more vehicles are not totally destroyed and lives lost! Just be thankful that Rory, Shawn and Mike are there….along with Matt, Merlin and Paul! Looks like dangerous stuff to me! Thanks for the video….
WHEN YOU CALL SOMEONE FOR SERVICES OBVIOUSLY ITS BECAUSE YOU CAN DO IT STAND BACK AN LET THE MAN DO HIS JOB.....RORY YOUR STILL THE ACE OF SPADES IN MY BOOK KEEP ON GETTIN IT BOYS
Thanks from England + I thought it was odd the way the SXS slid (I watched the clip before reading your comments), until I replayed that part of the clip and saw the rear wheels fully locked up. If a pair of rear wheels are fully locked or fully spinning that will always bring the back end around. Any doubters put a wide rubber elastic band over the rear wheels of a toy car and pull it from the front to see what happens.
Love a guy who can simply say when he screws up,,, for as many as he pulls and where ,,,rory whoops tail...and is very safe in some extreme circumstances
It is so cool how you know these roads and trails like most folks know their commute or street in front of their house. I guess with all the miles on the trails you guys have if you ain't the best you need to hang it up.
That was like watching the Wrecker Games. Matt, Merlin and the others are never going to let you forget this one... Great recovery none the less. Keep up the great work.
You know what folks, I may have said this before but there isn't 1 single pro tow operator who either hasn't made a school boy error or a simple "oh s*&t" mistake. The big part is acknowledging our mess ups and learning from them. Rory knew what went wrong and lesser folk would have railroaded the tow passenger and blamed him. Rory, your top bloke and know your trade well. I'd love to try your type of recovery which here in blighty we'd be sacked for immediately 😂. Total respect for you and your team mate. P. S, I'd still love to see a jacked up, 4x4 short bed slider doing your job😊, do you think such a truck would be possible??
Rory, I am not an expert in off road recovery, but I am a sailor. Your spring lines need greater distance. If you put a bar against the front tires of the vehicle being towed, ratchet straped the front axel, with eyelets on the ende. On the tow rig, you have a bar that fits into the receiver that is as wide as the vehicle, also with eyelets on the ends. Your spring lines would be much more effective. Thats how we do it on ships. Maybe that would help the lateral movement on the towed vehicle.
Just goes to show just how important it is to have someone like Shawn in the recovered vehicle..... 🙂 It takes courage/confidence to share the bad with the good...Thanks for sharing... 🙂
Well said
Yep, it takes someone w/ experienced riding in a towed vehicle.
The words I would use...
No shit bro! That never needed to see the light of day but it's kind of how Rory is. Here I am, good and bad, take it or leave it. I'll take it. Thanks for sharing.
Rory is a man of integrity!
Thanks Trailmater crew. Perfect timing. I was getting tired of scrolling UA-cam for anything interesting.
Anything other than Trump and 🌈.

Well in all fairness... you had help rolling a rig
The fact that you shared this recovery says a lot about you and your integrity. Glad there was no injuries or damage.
Any true off roader knows there are risks while out playing. The main thing is no one was injured . Great recovery team Trailmater, even with the bruised ego, you rock ❤
It shows you the character of the man to show us everything, the good and the bad. I would trust Rory with my rig and my life.

On a different note, Rory is like a rockstar. People yelling his name everywhere he goes.
Out of all the things to learn from the rest of us at the Wrecker Games, you learned how to roll one on the hook?...LOL
Did you get any bad storms last night 2023 the Winter that keeps on giving?

Way to go Rory and team. I love that you and Matt and Robbie and Paul all show us the mistakes and the failures as well as the successes. Channel is getting a lot more fun to watch. Thanks.
Rory has really come along with being on camera. It’s definitely something I would struggle with too.
Ooopp ! That was a ouchie that wasn't expected on the roll over.! I enjoy all the camera work that Mike does when he rides with you ! The undercarriage shots of the truck is wicked cool!

Any recovery where the vehicle and the customer makes it out in one piece is a win in my opinion! Nobody was injured so that makes for a good day
A great recovery and I bet you definitely are going to get the headsets back in. The great thing is absolutely no one got hurt.
I ran it back over and over. I think I saw skid marks, but I was convinced the driver locked it up when the wheel in the air was not turning as he went over. Yes he did have the wheels locked.
I will never get sick of watching Trailmater putting in work on the trail
It takes a big man to admit his mistakes and an even bigger man to post a video of it!
Keep up the great videos!

I just love the two way traffic signs on the one lane roads. Classic!
