Nice to see someone new to Tomica. I started collected them not long ago from time to time and I like them a lot.

My problem with tomica is their scale variations, unlike hot wheels stays with the 64th scale so when you stack them, they look a bit realistic.

Hot wheels doesn’t use a consistent scale either tho. They size everything for the blister. 1/64 is often called 3” scale for this reason. Aka box scale. Usually. Likewise majorette. When the Mijo brands do military models hardly any are actually 1/64. I recently got an old Johnny Lightning hummer h1 and it’s actually 1/68 or 1/69. Pretty sure the tanks they and greenlight offer are 1/72. The airplanes are definitely not 1/64. I have a 1/72 Corsair from DeAgustini (sp?) and like twice the size of the JL casting. The WW2 jeeps are dramatically scaled up because if they were true 1/64 they’d be probably less than 2”. Not really a crisis btw but it’s a fact of life for the more affordable brands especially Mattel.
My problems with Tomica’s are they have my least favorite wheels, they use a slightly thicker axle which means any replacement axle usually used in the hobby will have a bit of unwanted wiggle room unless you shim it, and as yet, the only ready made axle spacers are not suited to the job because they’re like little C clips whose openings can catch on the edge of a chassis resulting in them breaking, and they aren’t wide enough to clear parts of the chassis either. Also the wheels and thus the spacers have to go onto the axle in a way that still allows some side to side play so the suspension can flex. Like If one side flexes higher than the other. It takes getting used to.
I have had some luck force fitting the Tomica axles into aftermarket 7 spoke hubs but there aren’t a lot of size options for those hubs yet and the only affordable place to get them is AliExpress at least for me in the US.

I at first thought you might be a foreigner living in Malaysia as those are the twin towers of Kuala Lumpur in the background.

I got really interested in getting some models after watching your channel. Any recommendations on what to hunt for as a beginner? I'm thinking of looking to find the Premium Nissan gtr v spec
