I collect action figures and I only buy characters I like. Sometimes I look at my collection shelf and I feel at ease I never consider them a waste. Others will say that its childish but those things makes you happy your not bothering anyone because some of those people even admire them even if they say that. But yeah it once hit me one time when I look at my collection and said to myself now what? Then I thought I love posing my action figures so That's when I was introduced to a new hobby and thats Toy Photography. Im not great with it but it feel awesome when I look at the pictures and share them on social media. Whatever it is your collecting as long as it makes you happy its okay just always make sure to control your spending.

There is more to life than just existing. It’s important to find things that bring you joy and purpose. Hobbies are a great way to spend time on something you enjoy where the main purpose is enjoyment. It becomes problematic when it is used as a substitute for addressing real life issues in your life. Why has the hobby been reduced to the dopamine hit? Followed by the low afterwards that lingers for longer and longer. The problem isn’t collecting or hobbying it is what you are using it to avoid addressing in a meaningful way.

I am not a collector and I don't even like keeping things and objects around myself and make myself attach to them. BUT, I feel your excitement and joy and I thank you very much for sharing it!!!!

I collect because I was very broke when I was a kid, that envy can only be resolved when I bought the toys that I can't afford back then now. But it is not all that bad, every time when I am very stressful, I just need to look at my collection for 10-20 min and play with it for a bit, the stress magically vanished. I know it is kinda weird coming from a middle age dude like me but, toys just gave me so much joy and happiness to the point that I even bought a property to house all of them, making it like my personal toy store / theme park so that I can admire them after the end of everyday for a bit before returning home, and toys do get bigger too, from collecting diecast Toyota 86 to RC Toyota 86 and even ended up getting an actual GT 86 for display too at my toy sanctuary. That's Life for me, I work hard not just only for my family, but for my hobby too. If I pass away, my kid will inherit it, he too love toys just like his old man due to early childhood fatherly toy brainwashing.

I was born under a hoarder family... and I personally hoarded a lot of toy cars, most of which are diecast. As the stereotype goes I let them to rot and worse I couldn't bear to give them away (despite the fact that I've lost quite a bit). The cars aren't really my money either, so it feels even harder to part with my toys. I don't think I could ever move on from the regret and guilt.

My son and I were at Fred Myer and he was looking for a HW and found a Firebird a few back on a peg and knew I liked them. He pulled it out and I instantly knew it was the STH. Was wild. Never have I looked for a STH before because I know they’re always picked over.

I tend to differentiate between model kits and simple collectible toys. There is a real element of satisfaction that comes with building and personalizing a kit, you put your own work into it and it becomes something a little more than mere consumerism. That said, a well curated collection of toys still takes some effort and personalization.

I'm not trying to collect a large assortment of things. I try to pick one scale to have a small collection to display as self expressive and nostalgic decorations. My problem is that I can't pick a scale and stick with it. I always oscillate between either 1/12, 1/18, or 1/32. Each time I pick a scale I donate most of the other scales stuff to the Good Will. Right now there is a 1/18 Ninja Turtle scowling at me from my entertainment center as I type this.

With the few I kept - in my case it is Matchbox - it is about memory and honoring the persons who gave them to me. Passed away family members. Jigsaw Puzzles I did, are hanging on my walls for the majority. I enjoy piecing them together. The different (Rubik) Cubes I own - I gonna sell a good amount of them. It just took me some time to find the ones with the right setup for me. I'm in the middle of learning how to solve them. In Competitions, there are currently about 17 different variants in use, so I have quite some and some non-WCA ones too. The Gameboys and Game & Watch I have, are still around from my childhood. There are just 2 and some Games that I got my hands on later in life. I don't lock them away. I take good care of them but I still play them.

I can respect your points on this yet in some way I see hope for people and future in some shape or form mostly coming from an optimist, sure there would be misfortune but there are people pushing for a better tomorrow and building a better world for our kids even if they dont want you all to see it. It's always a great thing to have hope ya know, but I strongly agree with hot wheels being inflation proof. Personally I'm more into the cars that nobody would really find that interesting like the sentinel 400, fast fortress, Lamborghini countach, edsel, blown camaro and other underrated cars. My advice is to look into the good and the bad yet still keep a positive outlook on things even if the going gets tough, trusting in the lord helps in the long run.

As gunpla builder who collects model kit i never get bored cause in a view years i change poses the kit then kitbash then paint it, if you don’t want it anymore sell it then buy it again the one you really like. I understand this kind of things as a collector.
