I think it's fair to say even if team cherry doesn't technically owe the fans any information. They still haven't handled the situation optimally. If they don't want to reveal any information about the game they could just confirm they're at least working on it every few months.
Also man, the wait for Silksong really reminds me of the wait for Oddworld: Soulstorm, development hell, complete radio silence from the devs, concerns from the fanbase, disappointment in the final release. And yes I was one of those poor fans who waited forever for it. The radio silence is what made it such hell to wait for, because developers communicating with their fans is vital for keeping their community alive and well while they wait for your projects.
unless im entirely misunderstanding the timing of this, reguarldess of anything else having one of the devs say somethings happening tomorrow after however long of silence and then the switch 2 was revealed less than 24 hours later is still so incredibly odd and SO coincidental (unless it was announced befrorehand thats when it would be revealead, if so thats even weirder but reguardless) honestly what made me the most upset in this is like, yeah the whole cake arg thing was probably overblowing it and i didnt really believe in that (albiet i did know team cherry apparently has done stuff like that before) but just on a surface level, ignoring any sort of talk about NDA's or args or hype or whatever, i dont think ill ever understand the thought process of saying 'hey keep a look out for something big likely tomorrow' out of the blue casue like. were they expecting people to think it meant nothing or was it intentional to rile up people or like. i honestly have no idea and any reason it could of been just feels STRANGE at the end of the day. im really lookin forawrd to this game (a healthy ammount, i hope lol) but damn if i didnt get really exctied at the prospect of news and then just...nothing came of it for some reason. its odd it really is just a symptom of how TC's been so non transparent about the game, up to this point i was completely alright and expecting them to take their time and have a similar cycle to the first game, working in the dark so theres no time or fan pressure but like. cmon, you dont have to even show anything new at all, but when people reguarly and SERIOUSLY argue on whether the game is actually real or canceled sure says a lot. something as basic as a bi-yearly (or even yearly) checkin where the devs say something like "yeah we've made a lot of progress since last time" or "its taking longer than expected due to complications" or like, literally anything. not deltarune newsletter levels of transparency but again the fact people reguarlly argue about whether the game even exists or is just a cashgrab is honestly insane ALSO RAM-HEADS UNITE WOOOO!
Really bad look that the nicest thing I can say about all this is that Silksong is a good thing to point to when you want to show indie devs how NOT to handle the marketing of your game RAMMMMMMMMM LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though. Even if it is his shitpost account, with the amount of followers he has and his unique position there’s no way he could have said that without knowing the reaction he would get.
What baffles me is that the game was finished enough for them to release a _gameplay trailer_ for it, and yet its STILL not out yet with no information about it... Like, even if they've ended up in a loop of constantly adding to it for _5 years_ they still could have released the game and added to it later with updates or DLC. Part of me is worried that its been cancelled or that they stopped working on it entirely, but are too fearful of dissapointing the fans to tell us.
You think the patience of the Hollow Knight Fandom is destroyed? I think you should go and see the Half-Life 2 Fandom, it’s a whole level larger of chaos.
I have never seen the UA-cam Genre of "counting down until x releases". I know that Bocchi the Rock Season 2 fits into that since many people are counting the days until that releases and are anticipating when it does.
There's also one where a guy started killing nazeem in skyrim every single day in different ways/methods until TES 6 releases which i feel is just an addition to the genre specified here. there's also news publications that use a bot to update their 'release date' articles every day to refresh them in the algorithm only for said article to contain functionally no changes whatsoever and it still says "we don't know when x game is going to release, but here's some information we have on x while you wait" like... really??? you are so lucky that up till now you didn't know that was a thing because oh god it drives me up a wall.
Stuff like this makes me glad I’m more of a casual Hollow Knight fan (I love the game very much ofc, wish I was better at it though XD). I’m able to bear the wait a lot better cuz I’m more occupied with other games. I give my deepest condolences for the more hardcore fans though.
as a casual hollow knight enjoyer and as someone who has followed Oddity (formerly Mother 4) since its first trailer back in... 2013 i think? (I know, I know, apples to oranges but still) ...I think I have become completely desensitized to this sorta stuff lol I have a friend that is absolutely MENTAL about how long Deltarune is taking to develop, and i'm just here like. It'll be ready when it's ready. I think the absolute OBSESSION about a game's release is extremely unhealthy and people really need to take a breather and... find some other games to play lol The indie scene today is MASSIVE, and FULL of talented devs pouring their heart into projects that hardly get any attention. People needa focus their energy more on finding and playing more hidden gems instead of complaining about a game taking a long time, imo. Not saying I don't understand where it's coming from, I do, but yeesh.
I definitely think this focus on pressuring devs to release faster is unhealthy for everyone involved. Like. There are so many games out there you can play something else I pinky promise
i dont know anything about hollow knight and im not actually gonna watch the video but i just came here to say your little undertale cat avatar is very cute. that is all
@@askerror1987 it is rather cute and just in general the level of floof is i imagine fun to draw :) there's one character that is a cat that i own but since they a skeleton cat vampire hybrid created from god knows what (i have the lore down i just don't think anyone here cares for specifics) but its a crossover between blood+ undertale/deltarune and finally my own writing series (I refuse to post anything on it because of how abusive fandoms can be, especially of crossovers that have different main audiences...) known as Chronospatial. Either way, I've felt tempted into drawing floofy avatars so i made a temporary living form for them so that i can describe them as extra floofy in their backstory. (because they were extra floof back then being a Norwegian Forest Cat as their base species) Though I've always had issues with being confident in my writing as its the main format of Chronospatial so its just rough being unable to have anyone I trust to read it and both A: understand the context or concepts the story is bringing to the table (since its sci-fi fantasy and horror all wrapped into one bundle which can at times dissuade people from understanding all the sci-fi concepts which are basically required to understand the story of which i even end up linking Wikipedia articles on the basics to get people started even if I don't think anyone will ever read them because honestly its just helpful to have sources available even for myself if I happen to run out of ideas.) which narrows down the people in my life who can even read or understand the basics of this. Honestly the fandom ties are completely unnecessary to understanding the story as everything that is relevant is explained in the character bios when they are introduced to the story or during flashbacks adding a bit more to feed suspense or mystery. All of this is why I am personally drawn to your style of content as you explain things so well and even make references for those of us in the know without excluding anything critically important which is why I loved the penumbra phantasm music theory and is also why I appreciate the Device Theory made by mollystars. These two are very similar to my form of storytelling and thus is overall more useful in teaching me how to improve specific explanations. I sometimes have trouble with that and I already had a predisposition to having issues with this because of how my autism made people just... target me a lot when I was younger for not understanding body language or context very well which pressed me into improving my language but nobody would spend enough time trying to help me or any time at all to articulate things in speech and thus I'm almost always having issues speaking in person rather than online because at least online I could type out my thoughts as they came and thus began able to converse in that way. Speech stays a struggle for me especially because where I live doesn't... 'believe in autism' or mental health issues in general and just things we all aren't really people or something dumb like that. All this to say, your way of doing things is slowly but surely helping me improve alongside other content creators. Though you may never hear of my work or anything other than just this comment, I want you to know I was impressed and inspired by you nonetheless. Maybe someday I will get the courage up, but for now I hope knowing you have made an impact is enough. After all, I believe in giving credit where credit is due and you definitely deserve it.

Bro the fact that Elden Ring, its DLC and its fucking spinoff game were announced and released before Silksong is crazy. (I am so confident Nightreign will release before Silksong. I have no faith in Team Cherry that this game will release this year.) Like I know these are completely different studios but holy shit, the wait for this is mindbogglingly ridiculous now.
in all honesty im a firm believer that devs should take all the time they need, especially with crunch time being such a problem, like Undertale Yellow took 7 years and it turned out great, HOWEVER! I’ve pretty much lost all patience with Silksong as Team Cherry hasn’t given us ANYTHIING on it, the closest we got to Silksong news this year is a steam page update…and frankly that is ridiculous. I understand that they want to keep their cards close to their chest but…i can’t help but wonder every year if Silksong is just cancelled at this point. I wish they take a page from Toby Fox’s book and release some sort of update or teaser or literally anything that tells us they’re still working on it…But until then, i guess we’re all waiting impatiently.
@@terrarialove69420 Yeahhhhhhh I cleared out a lot of old assets and moved them to my backup harddrive yesterday, I think that was an accidental biproduct. I'll make sure to fix it in the next one!
It’s true, that’s probably some of the best advice you can give. A lot of people, mostly kids, can’t afford to get any game they want, so what ever games they do have, they are completely locked in on. When I got into Hollow Knight around six years ago, I was deep in the Silksong bandwagon. But now? I have an actual income, and I can afford to dabble in other things, Hollow Knight is a much less significant thing on my radar. Silksong is taking a while, though.
Sorry about all the comments, but 7:02 ain’t that the truth, brother, there’s so many things for me to catch up on and watch, play, do, etc that it’s overwhelming! 😂
As someone who followed the whole thing, even believed in the Cake at first: Yeah the whole Cake ARG situation was WAAAAYYYYYY overblown. Like, astronomically so. Big rant below, but before that: Based roguelike enjoyer, and Daily Hollow Knight news is peak. I can't wait for Hollow Knight to come out! Kinda weird that they featured some guy called "Daily silksong news" a while back. What's even a silksong? I wonder if they're also still waiting for their game too? Rant: I get it, the lack of communication SUCKS, and I want more too. Toby has proven that frequent communication, even just saying "Hey we're doin' good, here's some silly story about development, here's what stage of development we're roughly at, etc." really works to keep a community alive. Doing little mini ARGs or hints like the old ones Leth ran on discord, or even just little lore tidbits like Toby does with the Dess/Chara poems would be great too, but not necessary to keep people invested. HOWEVER: That is the only thing as of late I accept people criticizing Team Cherry for. The long wait is annoying, yes, but if they communicated with us it wouldn't feel nearly as bad. And that brings me to my next point: People yelling at clouds. I can understand being upset at the lack of communication, but this whole "April 2nd Cake ARG" was a stretch even when I believed in it. What people fail to realize, or more often simply refuse to, is that yes, Team Cherry are human beings, they make mistakes, and coincidences happen to them just like they happen to all of us. If it wasn't a coincidence, then sure, maybe they're under NDA, but I see no world where it was purposeful trolling or mocking of the community. It's not "disrespectful" to post a silly, coincidentally timed meme to your semi-private social media account, with past tweets such as "This tweet is written in a special frequency only stupid babies can read" and "It's all fun and games... until she starts playing the evil flute" as the norm. I just wish people would stop trying to blame TC for their own crack theories, because I don't think they're perfect by any means, but it's clear they have a good reason for not talking if they haven't in so long. People got way too riled up during this whole situation, and the amount of absurd conspiracy theory level hate I see thrown around (especially on reddit, but to be fair that's par for the course there) is just stupid by now. The game will come out when it's done, and as is mentioned in the video, there's hundreds of other things to do in the meantime. Sit back and enjoy the time before your life becomes dedicated to Silksong/DR Chapters 3+4/Crowsworn for 9 months, and please have a good day and night, as what else is there for us to do?
I'M personally more concerned that William may have potentially broken their NDA with this whole thing... trolling is one thing but this could really end up harming them directly. We all know how litigious Nintendo is... Also the only reason I was even a little excited for the whole cake thing in the first place is that April 2nd is my birthday :3
@@askerror1987 Agreed. I really don't believe in the whole "NDA = No communication" theory, that's just total BS (Bapanada Silksong), but I could see them having tried to do a silly little hint and it blowing up way too big and getting too specific. It that's the case, I imagine the whole april 2nd thing would have been fine if not for the switch 2 dropping the day after the tweet, with the whole "Keep your eyes closed tomorrow" being intended as a "no news YET, look forwards to something SOON" but then it ended up being dangerously close to being a "haha switch 2 reveal tomorrow guys" on accident. For now though, I'll take TC's word and believe them that it was a crazy accident, and we can all laugh about it if Silksong does get revealed during the direct. Also nice, happy early birthday! At the very least, you'll get a cool Nintendo Direct that day, eh?
@@askerror1987 Agreed, I don't believe in the whole "Nintendo NDA is what's been keeping them from revealing anything about their game!!!" theory, but I do think if the tweet wasn't a coincidence, it was probably pulled back as an NDA protection thing. Guys wtf. just calm down and let them make the freaking game. did we forget how amazing this 3 person team is to make such a masterpiece at such high quality? they've spent the better part of a decade pouring their lives into it? and now we're gonna get mad at them just because they are not ready to announce yet? nobody has any right to be mad about *anything*.
Marketing and PR are an essential part to a product, not as important as the quality of the game itself, but still VERY important. If you don't communicate with your community for the best part of two years, and you only show up to defuse a bad situation that one of the developers originated with a cryptic tweet, that's not good. Getting in touch with the community reassures them that the game is still been worked on and is closer everyday to releasing, if you don't do that you gotta know that your avid fans are gonna get desperate for ANY update, and the hype for the game will be so big that when it comes out, if it's not absolutely perfect, people are gonna get mad and disappointed. Writing a blog post takes like 10 minutes, and has such a huge net positive, that is beyond me why they choose not to do it in 2 years. That is the problem, team cherry is an amazing studio with so much talent and created one of the best games ever, but they are managing their community very very VERY badly, and this is gonna cost them a lot when the game comes out. Updating us is a win/win but they still refuse to do it, and ultimately that will be their loss more then ours.

Ain't that the truth
2:10 rest in peace sweet king I miss it everyday 🕊🌿🌹
Gone but not forgotten o7
unless im entirely misunderstanding the timing of this, reguarldess of anything else having one of the devs say somethings happening tomorrow after however long of silence and then the switch 2 was revealed less than 24 hours later is still so incredibly odd and SO coincidental (unless it was announced befrorehand thats when it would be revealead, if so thats even weirder but reguardless)
honestly what made me the most upset in this is like, yeah the whole cake arg thing was probably overblowing it and i didnt really believe in that (albiet i did know team cherry apparently has done stuff like that before) but just on a surface level, ignoring any sort of talk about NDA's or args or hype or whatever, i dont think ill ever understand the thought process of saying 'hey keep a look out for something big likely tomorrow' out of the blue casue like. were they expecting people to think it meant nothing or was it intentional to rile up people or like. i honestly have no idea and any reason it could of been just feels STRANGE at the end of the day. im really lookin forawrd to this game (a healthy ammount, i hope lol) but damn if i didnt get really exctied at the prospect of news and then just...nothing came of it for some reason. its odd
it really is just a symptom of how TC's been so non transparent about the game, up to this point i was completely alright and expecting them to take their time and have a similar cycle to the first game, working in the dark so theres no time or fan pressure but like. cmon, you dont have to even show anything new at all, but when people reguarly and SERIOUSLY argue on whether the game is actually real or canceled sure says a lot. something as basic as a bi-yearly (or even yearly) checkin where the devs say something like "yeah we've made a lot of progress since last time" or "its taking longer than expected due to complications" or like, literally anything. not deltarune newsletter levels of transparency but again the fact people reguarlly argue about whether the game even exists or is just a cashgrab is honestly insane
ALSO RAM-HEADS UNITE WOOOO!
Really bad look that the nicest thing I can say about all this is that Silksong is a good thing to point to when you want to show indie devs how NOT to handle the marketing of your game
RAMMMMMMMMM LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
According to Leth, this is not the case- but he also only knows as much as TC tells him
You think the patience of the Hollow Knight Fandom is destroyed? I think you should go and see the Half-Life 2 Fandom, it’s a whole level larger of chaos.
I'm in both fandom, and...
I'VE SEEN IT ALL
Eh I don't really know, I think Half Life Alyx helped a bit but with the HLX and project white sands "leaks" I see where you're coming from
I have never seen the UA-cam Genre of "counting down until x releases". I know that Bocchi the Rock Season 2 fits into that since many people are counting the days until that releases and are anticipating when it does.
@@blockeontheleafeon oh hey I watch that show lol, I get what you mean though, it's a bit sad..
@@Cinnimanlasagna Yeah.
Also, I'm glad you watch Bocchi the Rock too. It's nice.
@yogfan1139 Damn.
Stuff like this makes me glad I’m more of a casual Hollow Knight fan (I love the game very much ofc, wish I was better at it though XD). I’m able to bear the wait a lot better cuz I’m more occupied with other games. I give my deepest condolences for the more hardcore fans though.
True, I'd say I def love the community more than the game itself. I'm so grateful to HK for introducing me to Skurry and Windette for example
Skurry is the entire reason I was able to get into Rain World and for that I am forever grateful
as a casual hollow knight enjoyer and as someone who has followed Oddity (formerly Mother 4) since its first trailer back in... 2013 i think? (I know, I know, apples to oranges but still)
...I think I have become completely desensitized to this sorta stuff lol
I have a friend that is absolutely MENTAL about how long Deltarune is taking to develop, and i'm just here like. It'll be ready when it's ready.
I think the absolute OBSESSION about a game's release is extremely unhealthy and people really need to take a breather and... find some other games to play lol
The indie scene today is MASSIVE, and FULL of talented devs pouring their heart into projects that hardly get any attention.
All I have to say is: :(
It's looking like it's silkover 😔
hang in there silksong fans, hopefully the game team learns to be more transparent. meow o/
As UA-cam user DeterminedShadow is so fond of saying over on the Silksong news channel-
Stay determined.
Oh shit rainworld mentioned:0 6:34
HELL YEAH
The developer should give us the game for half price
6:51 ANDREW CUNNINHAM GAME MENTION!
i dont know anything about hollow knight and im not actually gonna watch the video but i just came here to say your little undertale cat avatar is very cute. that is all
Ehehehehe, well thank you for the comment to circulate this video in the algorithm! I’m glad you like him
@@askerror1987 it is rather cute and just in general the level of floof is i imagine fun to draw :) there's one character that is a cat that i own but since they a skeleton cat vampire hybrid created from god knows what (i have the lore down i just don't think anyone here cares for specifics) but its a crossover between blood+ undertale/deltarune and finally my own writing series (I refuse to post anything on it because of how abusive fandoms can be, especially of crossovers that have different main audiences...) known as Chronospatial. After all, I believe in giving credit where credit is due and you definitely deserve it.

is this video a sign I should play hollowknight
It's a truly excellent and memorable game, I got lost in there sooooooooooo often and it really did feel like I was just this tiny creature in way over my head on a big adventure. Would highly recommend it
I’ll take that as a yes
I wish they take a page from Toby Fox’s book and release some sort of update or teaser or literally anything that tells us they’re still working on it…But until then, i guess we’re all waiting impatiently.
love your videos :3
oh also 8:05 no frame available for MediaOut1 just thought you should know

We’re gonna get GTA6 before silksong bro😭😭😭
Also Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Kart 9.
I dont get why people freak out so much about silksong. Like, the basic assumption is that they're making the game. If they weren't they'd tell us.
Yeah its just we wish they would say SOMETHING about how its going instead of them just being completely silent
Hytale fans: *hold my tears*
Sorry about all the comments, but 7:02 ain’t that the truth, brother, there’s so many things for me to catch up on and watch, play, do, etc that it’s overwhelming! 😂

The music is literally credited in the video. It's Inscryption music by the way
@@askerror1987 ah in that case im just blind, still, putting it in description makes it much easier
As someone who followed the whole thing, even believed in the Cake at first:
Yeah the whole Cake ARG situation was WAAAAYYYYYY overblown.
Rant:
I get it, the lack of communication SUCKS, and I want more too.
If it was, we can all laugh about it once the game's revealed and hopefully finally let up on Team Cherry about stuff.
Also, happy early birthday! At least you're still getting that Nintendo Direct that day, eh?
(Could've sworn I replied before, but I guess UA-cam ate the comment???)
I believe It's launching with the switch 2. Only a few more months
Tomorrow for sure!
AHAHA were getting 3 new ninja gaiden games before Silksong
Is this all really THAT big of a deal? Like, I don't follow, don't think about Silksong everyday, I loved Hollow Knight, am excited for Silksong, and I simply and only know that SOMEDAY, it will be released, and that day will be fun, I'll most likely buy the game and then play it, and what's it to anyone anyway l
I can promise you I barely ever think about Silksong. It's just frustrating when this is the closest thing we've actually had to official news in... checks notes... almost three actual years
Team Cherry could definitely stand to be less radio silent but tbh the fans have been doing this to themselves for a while now. Fooling themselves that news is gonna finally come at every new event, like whenever it does come out it's just gonna be a video game calm down.
Oh I thoroughly agree. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment at that point
Guys wtf. just calm down and let them make the freaking game. did we forget how amazing this 3 person team is to make such a masterpiece at such high quality? they've spent the better part of a decade pouring their lives into it? and now we're gonna get mad at them just because they are not ready to announce yet? nobody has any right to be mad about *anything*.
