Rayman Desperately Deserves a New Console Game

- Rayman is one of the truly great platforming franchises in all of video games, and it has sadly been in a state of dormancy for the last eight years-since 2013's Rayman Legends. But why? In this video, I explore the history of the franchise to attempt to find the answer. This includes an in-depth discussion about series creator Michel Ancel, the evolving business strategy of series publisher-developer Ubisoft, and the ongoing development hell of Beyond Good and Evil 2.

I'm speechless. You litterally spoke words that went through my head for years. You deserve a sub for this vid. Maybe in the future we will have that Rayman game, we just don't know when it will drop.
Thanks so much for the sub, NotFred! I'm glad the discussion resonated with you! And yep. It unfortunately remains a waiting game with Rayman and Ubisoft for the time being...

Yeah
I pretty much grew up with rayman. Its sad to see ubisoft rejecting their basically mascot/kickstarter like this
I couldn't agree more, Joe. At this point, I wish Ubisoft would just sell the IP into better hands.
There was that weird Ubisoft customer support thing with them talking about Rayman in Smash if you ask them about Smash Ultimate that quickly got erased from the bot’s capabilities, resulting in a generic “I don’t know” response to Smash Ultimate. Maybe Rayman will come back in Smash, resulting in more entries in the future, but it’s hard to say seeing as Rayman as a franchise has been radio silent on his 25th anniversary no less. It’s a difficult position, but I’m hopeful :)
Good point about the customer support stuff, Octoonz. Ubisoft's behavior has been so strange! I'm still surprised by how few video game companies properly celebrate milestone anniversaries for their own games.
I'm still waiting for a new 3D Rayman platformer.
Me too, Solar! It'd be so great to play a new/fresh take on 3D Rayman after so many years!
@@terapop Yep.
That’d be a great game to see. They returned to 2D with origins and legends. Maybe the next game will see a jump to 3D platformer the Ubisoft way

@@orangeslash1667 That's true.
Rayman was my childhood and I hope another will be released soon.
As someone who grew up with the original trilogy, it's really REALLY sad to see the current state of the franchise. Thankfully there was Rayman Redemption, an amazing fangame, along with Rayman 2 HD in the works, but that's all unfortunately.
I'm right there with you, Prima! I was disappointed that the franchise's 25th anniversary felt like a non-event. Do you think we'll ever see current-gen remakes of any of the old games?

@@themookmann2780 Yes, I'd love to see a fresh take on 3D Rayman after all these years! I can't really imagine a 2D game topping Legends at this point either.
I had this thought recently: Ubisoft can sell Rayman to Toys For Bob, the company behind Crash Bandicoot 4.
Good thought, Sharon! I'm actually working on a new video essay about that very topic. I think it's best for Rayman if Ubisoft just sells the IP at this point. (Toys For Bob did SUCH a good job with Crash 4, imo!)
But first they need make a rayman 1,2,3 remastered think about rayman in a vizapop art style

@@slycther2.027 Unfortunately yes. And Activision actually reassigned the Crash 4 team to support COD: Warzone some months back.

before everyone going to believe ancel was toxic and did sexual harrasment. listen up: i worked for a short while at a bakkery. the workground wasnt really the way i expected so i quit. but a collegue heard me say i was going to quit and for some reason started spreading the word that i was a drugs addict. lies can spread quickly and if ppl are going to assume things are true. just bc someone said so, lies might stay without any truth.
Yes, the Ancel situation seemed it be his word against the word of others. It's hard to say what really happened, but he was clearly not happy, and his team was clearly not happy, and their game (BGE2) was in development hell. So maybe it was all for the best. We'll have to see.
They shouldn't do the same formula over and over. I get some people who can't distinguish Origins from Legends at all. I hope they make a Rayman 2 The Great Escape remake. That game deserve to be on the spotlight again, but I hope they keep the grim and dark textures and colors.
Ah, yes! I'd love to see a modern-day remake of Rayman 2! You make an excellent point about how Great Escape is much darker aesthetically than the other Rayman games. It's a really special game that should be further preserved.
Me watching in 2023 just realizing Rayman will be in sparks of hope as a dlc gives me hope they haven't forgotten the franchise
I remember being a kid and playing the original Rayman with my dad on the PS1. Those are memories I will always treasure
They should totally add Rayman to Smash. The Smash series has done wonders for other series, it helped Fire Emblem become popular in the US as well as cement it as one of Nintendo’s key franchises. It made series like Castlevania, Banjo Kazooie and characters like King K Rool more relevant than they have ever been, Xenoblade 2 sold out in Japan following Pyra/Mythra’s release. Hell just look at Mega Man Capcom routinely pumped out games in the series until one day they just stopped, years went by without a new entry until out of the blue he was announced for Smash and what happened. We got a brand new entry in the series and various compilations of older titles brought to modern platforms. And while he isn’t a character Geno a long forgotten character from a one off game released 25 years ago has gained an enormously large fanbase the likes of which few characters have seen. So there’s concrete proof that Smash can do wonders for certain long forgotten game series. Hopefully Rayman can get the same treatment because even if it doesn’t result in him getting a new game it will at least (like Banjo-Kazooie) forever immortalize him in what is seen by many as the biggest most important crossover in gaming history.
Excellent points, Marty! I couldn't agree more. It's also been a long time since Banjo-Kazooie got a new game, but the fanfare surrounding their inclusion in Smash alone has done a great deal in making the franchise feel relevant again. They just got a new amiibo, too, which is already becoming a collector's item. Would love to see Rayman get this same treatment. It's certainly deserved.
@@terapop I recommend Hat in Time, it's a plat-former that takes inspiration from Banjo Kazooie. I feel it's much easier making a dark shooter like Doom than a wacky plat-former like Rayman.
Well, he is in Brawlhalla, so...
It really does
Hey, all! I just published a new video in which I discuss the idea of Ubisoft selling or outsourcing the Rayman franchise. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/t4I5hNw6JQQ/v-deo.html
Great presentation and very interesting points. I reckon Rayman is an unusual mix of the fantastical and goofy, ranging from the more magical Rayman 2 to even spawning the utterly wacky Rabbids (which have been toned down since release). It'd be a solid acquisition for a company wanting to get a pre-made mascot platformer of their own, but that's just hypothetical. Sad that Ubisoft doesn't take advantage of it. Heck, Banjo joined Smash and Microsoft doesn't seem to know how to take advantage of that. Don't they want dat platformer dough that Nintendo rolls in?
Thanks for watching, Evangelos! And yes, any developer would be fortunate to have Rayman on their hands. I could potentially see Moon Studios (of Ori fame) doing Rayman justice. Maybe Nintendo, but they're already slow to develop entries in their existing franchises. And if Rayman stays with Ubisoft, I kind of think Davide Soliani and the Milan studio are our only hope. What do you think?
@@terapop Moon Studio would be insane, but they wouldn't care precisely they already have Ori. To them Rayman would basically be 'Ori, but funny'! Nintendo, who did fancy a Wii U exclusive, would be better because Mario is very different stylistically. 2D Rayman could fill the gap of the overused 2D Mario, instead of antagonizing him.
What'd be perfect is for Davide to descend from the clouds and be, like, 'rejoice mortals, for my secret project is Mario & Rabbids: Rayman's Return, also he'll join Smash'. And Jano gives hard mode challenges like Snatcher in Hat in Time!
Now that I think about it, you can only make so many Rabbid clone playable characters for a new M+R game, so why not Rayman characters in addition to new Mario ones? Rabbids where created thanks to Rayman, he still has a fanbase, doesn't hurt to add him in and give him some spotlight that'd help him in the future. His ranged fists would also make for a unique fighting mechanic. Hmm...
@@PhantomV13 Hah! And rejoice we would! I love the idea of throwing Rayman characters into a sequel. Rayman and Mario working together in battle would be amazing. And I can only begin to imagine how hysterical Globox's animations and weapons would be.
@@terapop You got me thinking and I sketched something for Twitter. What'd work for Rayman could be placing his own hands a medium distance away, and then firing from there. As for an ability inspired by Rayman 2, he could toss a crown, causing Teensies to fight over it in a dust cloud, damaging enemies and providing temporary cover!
Sadly Rayman might only be possible solo, as the other characters don't have anything really unique, while he has his lack of limbs and helicopter hair. Unless floating became a more 'core' ability that Peach also used, where Globox and/or Barbara and/or a Teensy could use too.
@@PhantomV13 Great thoughts! I'd love to see Rayman used like that. Especially with some Rayman 2 references. And Globox has a really nice sliding animation from Rayman Legends that I could see him using for dash attacks. A Teensy could be a bit trickier, but I'm sure Soliani and his team could come up with some great ideas!
Thank you so much for this video. I saw it first at reddit. You spoke everything that I had in my had aswell. Unisoft is one huge corporate video game company, and the keyword really is "corporate", because they became absolutely soulless and brainles. They think on making money in a very superficial way. Not only are they greedy, but their vision is short term instead of long term planning, which is why the produce the current games we see right now. They found a way to mantain enough money they need, by being lazy in terms of quality. But the future will eventually punish them. I just wanna say this thing though: if Ubisoft isn't interested in Rayman (which is clearly the case, given their corporate attitude), then they should sell it the hell out, which is why I agree with you 100%. They have a different way of doing things, fine. But then at least sell it to somebody who's interested in actually to produce something people are interested in.
Very good video. Sorry for the long comment, but I needed to write this down. It just bothers me in which condition we're just in. It's not only about Rayman, but certain other projects and franchises, who are overlooked by each of the companies that possesses them. We see this pattern in the video game industry more and more often.
Thanks for the love, Datura, and for sharing your thoughts! You're right. This is both an exciting yet very scary time for the video game industry. Lots of changes are taking hold, and not all of them are for the better. We're definitely in agreement about the future of Rayman. We know Ubisoft loves making money, so why not sell the Rayman license? Especially if it no longer serves the Tom Clancy/Assassin's Creed/Far Cry beast they've created.
Is there any developer you'd handpick to make a new Rayman game? Moon Studios? Retro Studios? Playtonic Games?
@@terapop "We know Ubisoft loves making money, so why not sell the Rayman license? "
Ecactly, my dude! Preach. This is what I'm talking about. If Ubisoft is so hot on the money, and have no plans with Rayman, then why not sell Rayman's license to a company, that is willing to produce actual content? I mean it would be a win/win for everyone. Ubisoft makes his money, and we got our Rayman finally away of their corporate claws, so that we could see him back.
Good question: moon studios and retro studios both would be perfect for Rayman! I feel like there would be plenty of opportunities.
0:24, and everytime it goes on sale it goes to the top of the best selling games list on both the PS4 and the Switch...
Great video! Gonna stream some Rayman Origins this weekend.
rayman is my first ever ps4 game from the beginning of my life, right now im 13 i would always ask my cousin if i could play rayman, even on my dad’s ps4 lol, but then eventually i got bored of the game since i finished it all, i hope they add a 3d rayman platformer just like SolarFarle is waiting for and hopefully we get updates all of the time, not a story game? but more of a free roam so the fun never ends.
Got rayman from my "elf on the shelf" when I was around 7 for the ps4, wish we could get a new game.
Rayman is a game you play a little while then forget about like it's in the back of my mind, that's how see it.
I think Rayman, especially Origins and Legends, has special appeal to people who really appreciate platformers. The minute-to-minute gameplay is very fine-tuned, and the levels are particularly speedrun-friendly. But obviously to each his/her own.

Boy do I have something to tell you
I've played Rayman 2 in early childhood, Rayman 3 in cca 3rd grade, Rayman Origins and Legends shortly afterwards. Each one is an absolute masterpiece. I will remember Rayman forever. Such a unique character/franchise with such legacy, should not by any means be treated this way, especially not by the very people who created it. The way it looks like right now is super no bueno. Though, you're right, we need to keep hoping that a new, proper Rayman game will eventually come out, and at this point it doesn't even matter to me how long I'll have to wait lol. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! (btw I actually don't care whether it would be a 2D or a 3D game, I like each mainline game more or less equally. The 3D games have their own spark, and the 2D games have their own spark. But of course this is just my opinion :D)
Excellent video dude! You did a great job at awaking my passion for Rayman from it's slumber! It's easy to lose hope about Rayman's future when THIS is how it's looking right now, but you sir have spoken powerful words! Keep this up! I think you have a bright future ahead of yourself. I really hope that this video will reach many more Rayman fans!
Glad to hear this video and discussion resonated with you, Alpha! I share your love of Rayman and am grateful so many fans remain passionate about this franchise despite Ubisoft's neglect in recent years.
Brilliant video, very informative and you really highlighted lots of the things about the franchise and the company itself. Real quality content! It’s such a shame Ubisoft has become the company it has over the years. Rayman was my favourite game series as a kid and Assassin’s Creed my favourite as a teenager. Unfortunately if Ubisoft are not completely ignoring their successful franchises from back in the day, they’re sidelining them into micro-transaction filled mobile games and the franchises they do still milk games out of, like AC or Ghost Recon, are so unrecognisable from the roots they came from and seem to just serve as a way to slap the name of a popular franchise onto the games title with most of their games these days having the addition of light-RPG mechanics, also tailored to be mildly unfair to make the consumer purchase more in game purchases that shouldn’t be in single player full priced games in the first place, “optional” or not. It seems that the company are just so out of touch with a portion of their fans because most are acceptant of whatever they release, not to mention the recent allegations of sexual misconduct within the company that they really don’t want to address. You really wonder what the suits in upper management are doing over there, it’s a shame.
I appreciate the compliments, Harry! Glad to know you enjoyed the video. And thanks for sharing your thoughts. Lots of good insight. I feel very similarly about Ubisoft's trajectory over the last 5-10 years. And unfortunately the company's sheer size and influence makes them a bellwether for the entire industry. I think it goes beyond tone-deafness at this point. The company's executives appear to be willfully disconnecting with many of their consumers. Like you said, the allegations of misconduct and unhappy employees paint an even grimmer picture of what's going on behind the scenes. I sadly can't think of a positive spin to put on all of this!
I’m still sad Rayman didn’t make it to Smash U in the end. It would’ve helped boost his popularity and relevance. 😢
I definitely agree, GamerDude. The Fighters Passes featured way too anime swordfighters imo, but oh well. Maybe Ray will make it into another Smash game down the road?

Man, this video is nostalgic af. Rayman was a big part of my childhood. It always gave me Conker's Bad Fur day vibes, only the G rated version. Lol It's a shame that this awesome IP had to fall to the wayside due to Ubisoft's cash grab tactics and lack of love/respect for their roots. I mean, how badass would a new Rayman with Rachet & Clank graphics be?! Someone needs to see the massive potential of this IP and buy up this license ASAP!
It's mostly due to the creator wanting to do his own thing. With Wild, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and Michael Ancel from what I remember leaving the studio, they're probably still figuring out how to approach this without him. I assume they definitely wanted to do more Rayman stuff before he left, heck we keep getting updated versions of Rayman Legends, mobile stuff, and apparently they're making a TV series. They obviously see this series as a huge success, I think it's obvious another main line Rayman game will happen at SOME point. The problem is we don't really have a frame of reference of WHEN it will happen. The same thing actually happened with the Raving Rabbids, there was like a 5 year gap in between games at one point. Heck, the Rabbids haven't actually had a mainline game outside of crossovers since 2012, the Mario + Rabbids series basically resurrected it. Video game schedules are really jank
You're a bit more optimistic than I am about the situation, Minorsmile. I unfortunately don't feel a new mainline Rayman game is a guaranteed thing, and I'm doubtful Ubisoft's executives are thinking much about the IP these days.
Wow, your videos are extremely underrated. Take the well-deserved sub, my friend.

0:40 you can add another franchise to this list : Grand theft auto
The last game was released around the same Time as Rayman legends, in 2013 (that might also explain why legends didn't sell that well upon release : because GTA V was literally at the center of the gaming World back then)
Since then, Dan Houser, the genius behind all the GTA games left R*, much like Michel Ancel with Ubisoft. Hell, you Could even Say GTA Online is R*'s equivalent of the Rabbids
Fair point! Rockstar used to be so prolific, and now they mostly rely on online multiplayer content. It is disappointing. I'm beginning to feel similarly about Nintendo's Donkey Kong and Pikmin franchises as well. Too many important franchises have gone the better part of a decade now without a new single-player entry.

@@laguet93 I did see that! Never forget that GTA 5 was the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, and GTA Online wasn't even available at launch! You'd think even if Rockstar was only interested in making money, they'd still be motivated to regularly produce more single-player games. Conversely, I suspect Ubisoft's executives believe Rayman is financially unviable. Rayman Legends has sold an estimated 5 million lifetime copies, whereas Far Cry 5 sold an estimated 5 million copies in its first week alone. (This is why I wish Ubisoft would sell Rayman to a smaller developer!)
@@terapop as an experienced GTA online player, i Can tell you that R* IS still making a lot of Money with online. Everything IS so overpriced that players who don't know/want to grind will just buy stuff with Real Money. Since there IS zero competition for GTA, they just keep making online dlc's. Costs way less than making a whole New game.
Concerning Ubisoft's executives, they're only interested in money, but in this case the numbers of sales don't matter. What matters IS how much profit you make.
A game that sold 5M in its entire lifespan but that was made by a small team, with no voice acting, no mocap, to put it simply : a game that doesn't cost millions and millions to make, is just as viable as a game that sold 5 millions in a single week, but that cost a leg and an arm to make.
Not to mention that legends was a critical succes, wich Always benefits Ubisoft's image (and let's be honest they could REALLY use some good critics given their current rep)
@@laguet93 Good points all around, laguet! I poured many hours into GTA Online from around 2013-2016 but really fell off after that. Just reached a natural burnout point and moved onto other games. Thanks for this. Honestly, of course we can have another Rayman game without Ancel. it's unfortunate because he's obviously the father of this franchise. But Rayman 3 wasn't created with him, and to your point, Hugo Martin led the creative direction of Doom - and that impressed John Romero (and the entire fanbase) so much! There is hope. It'll take a long ass time, but there is hope.
In my fandom, we were discusing about which company should buy Rayman. We all agreed on Microsoft. Because Nintendo isn't just slow. Nintendo would block all fangames and fanarts. And that's not good.
Good point about Nintendo's history of cracking down on fan creations, Drajana!
@@terapop Thank you, Terapop! I must know it since I made a lot of fanarts...
Ubisoft ignoring the obvious cash cow that would be capitalizing on remakes of mascot platformers a couple years back and remaking Rayman 2 can only really mean one thing.
Ubisoft doesn't care anymore. And with Ubisoft's disgusting history of covering up employee abuse and protecting the abusers only really makes me happy that I have zero reason to give them money ever again.
I hope whenever they shutdown The Crew that it will blow up right in their face, but knowing over-protective fanboyism Ubi is just one of thoss untouchable conglomerates now, free of consequence.
At least I don't have a reason to give them my money anymore, because I sure as hell would feel guilty about it.
Yes, sadly I agree. I can only hope Ubisoft sells off the Rayman license so the franchise doesn't fall further into obscurity. Because remake of Rayman 2 would be so great, let alone a brand new game!
@Welp yeah but rayman revolution is 20 years old

The fact that there is no new Rayman game on the horizon sucks, but what I find even worse is how poorly the Rayman legacy is being preserved by Ubisoft. There is no good way to play the original trilogy in 2023 and that's just annoying imo.
I totally agree, Count. It's equally important that the history of this franchise is well preserved. Meaning the old games are easily available. And that's not the case at all.

I love the passion of the Rayman community and wholeheartedly support many of the fan projects out there. However, while fan projects help to keep Rayman alive, they will never match the cultural impact of official game releases. That's why I hope Ubisoft eventually sells or outsources the IP into better hands.

Need a Rayman 4. Would love to see the complete vision of Raving Rabbids original.
Well, I guess we've got Rayman as a DLC to Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope...
I agree I never gave up on Spyro especially since he now has his games getting remastered and I'm not giving up on Sonic either and I'm not giving up on Rayman either and I like Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Rayman 3 is my favorite Rayman Videogame I like it more than Rayman 2.
Sonic and Rayman deserve remastered versions of their games since Spyro and Crash Bandicoot have their games remastered I also prefer Sonic over Mario Spyro over Crash Bandicoot and I like Rayman too.
All I wish for is
1 the next game be out soon
2 the game be amazing and fun while offering new Innovative ideas
3 Rayman can get into Smash
4 live long enough to see either or both happen!
Whatever the case i need help as I've had it with everything I love always dying.
Great, i found you. Been looking for a recent comment of yours for a while now
I have a spark of hope for you. Not much, but if it Can help you hang on, then it's worth it
1 month ago, Ubisoft held his financial report. Basically it's a meeting you do with your investors to tell them how the company's been doing financially and what you're planning for the upcoming fiscal year.
One of the investors asked about bge2, and the Ubisoft executive said that they were making good progress, that the devs were in the major steps of development, but that it was still too soon to show or tell anything.
Other sources claim that they Hope to release the game during the 2024 fiscal year (which IS around 2024/2025), while other sources Say that the actual question the investors asked was if bge2 could be released during the 2024 fiscal year, to which Ubisoft answered what i said earlier
Anyways that means bge2 IS not cancelled and It'll Come Out eventually. Once this game is released, Ubisoft Montpellier could very well work on a New Rayman and then maybe, just maybe Ancel will come back for this project, as i found the original interview he did for the french newspaper liberation (the one that IS quoted in this video) that he REALLY wanted to make Rayman 4 and that maybe one day he'll be motivated again
If you want i Can give you all my sources, altough most of them are in french
@@laguet93 i have been following news from Ubisoft already, but thank you for checking up on me. Always appreciate others concern for my well being with how tough life has been lately.
Rayman 3 game of my childhood and the best of the franchise in my opinion
Wanted Rayman in Smash, got Rabbids Mii Costumes in Smash.
Make a kickstarter campaign to collect money to give to Michel Ancel for Rayman 4. I tried but can't make a professional video
Im confused, ypu want to force someone who doesnt want to make games anynore to make a game?? Oo
What rayman game should I start with
In my opinion, Rayman 2 is the best 3D game, and Rayman Legends is the best 2D game. But I'd honestly recommend experiencing all five mainline games in chronological order if at all possible! Just keep in mind that Rayman 1 is the most challenging game in the series. 👍
It's pretty sad that Rayman is on this limbo thing when we don't even know if rayman is dead or not (because of mobile games).
Now it's been longer to not getting any mainlime rayman game than in rabbids era.
This series is in pretty bad position since the end of 2020.
Because rayman mini's last update appeared and we don't anything what will be next with rayman.
We know nothing about his future. Sure there are these things like facebook post that was deleted later as mentioned in the video or that thing with tradermark update. But as time passes fans like me are getting more and more pesimistic.
At this time platformer legends like crash, spyro or even BUBSY are returning in remasters or new games and rayman is just sitting here.
Sure banjo didn't got any game even longer than rayman but he got into smash and merch! Rayman has none of them than effortless mobile games.
I don't want to see rayman die on mobile platform as some abadoned series.
Good thoughts, Kaji. I totally agree. Especially with all these other aging platforming franchises getting love. Rayman simply isn't getting the respect he deserves. This mobile game stuff is so depressing, especially with Ubisoft saying they want to focus more on mobile moving forward...
Then again Mr freaking dark came back in the new Rayman Mini update
@@cpmc1164 I didn't know about that update! Have you played much of Rayman Mini? I suppose I just can't get too excited about mobile games. I wish Ubisoft would let the team put this kind of effort into a proper console game.
@@terapop unfortunately no. I'm too poor even have an apple. I'm pretty sure the most of rayman fans don't have ability to play it. If I even had chance to have apple you need to throw another money into apple arcade subscription which I'm not fan of.
Please toys for bob do rayman 1,2,3 remastered think about rayman in a vizapop art style
Ubisoft, give me the reigns to the rayman franchise!! I have so many ideas :(
I still enjoy Legends! But I’m really hoping for a new 3rd person Rayman! If not, a good remaster of the 3 old ones!
Same! We're due for more 3D Ray! 🤞
Rayman was beloved. He led to the rise of his family. But soon... He was forgotten. They made their savior's life look like he was a beggar. How disrespectful.
Awesome video
Thanks, Jeffrey!
Toys for bob do rayman 1,2,3 remastered think about rayman in a vizapop art style
i think that Ubisoft became worst then Sega. It's not good.
I don't follow Sega super closely, but Ubisoft is definitely out of touch with a large portion of its old fan base. It's really unfortunate. IPs like Rayman and Splinter Cell are dwindling into obscurity.
If they aren't gonna make a new Rayman game, they should at least remake Rayman 2.
time for a fan game!!!
Wait, it's been 7 (now 8) years!?
Nine actually 😑
Rayman deserves a HD remake of the original trilogy . . . with better camera 😅
What confuses me is why there was nothing before. Ancel wprked in ubispft for years. And fine, in the past the workers rights were kinda not as developed but even last 10 years? There was nothing. We also have a factor of exausting development of beyond good and evil 2 which def had an effect on that entire team
It is just way too many unamswered questions
For sure, Sollumi. I'm under the impression BG&E2 was Ancel's team's next project after Rayman Legends. But things obviously didn't go well. He may have partially checked out because he was working on an unrelated indie project too. Hard to say, but things clearly got weird after Legends.
@@terapop ah i meant just why there were no complaints for a long time and they surfaved just now
Rayman need a sequel and after the anouncement of Rayman in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope ! And also the director of Sparks of hope is still interested in Rayman !
Ps: you have the voice of Staedler in Inside Job.
I just hope rayman doesn't combine too much with nintendo and become a nintendo exclusive. I dont use nintendo consoles but I hope i can still play rayman on other platforms, like the previous origins and legends game
Honestly, I would not be opposed to Nintendo taking the Rayman IP. It would take awhile to make a new game, but you could at least bet Nintendo would capitalize on the IP in comparison to Ubisoft where we don't know when the next game will come.
Although I doubt they would sell Rayman as
1. Its impactful to Ubisoft's history
2. Potential conflicts with Rayman and Rabbid IPs.
I feel similarly, Luke! I'd definitely pick Nintendo over Ubisoft at this point. But I agree that there's potential issues surrounding a full-fledged sale. That's why I hope outsourcing isn't entirely off the table.
@@terapop and not to mention they’ve worked together before making a crossover
guys lets hope that rayman would a fighter 11 #raymanforsmash game awards
my son loves rayman and goes on my computer to watch vids about it. but he has gotten sad? because he said that "WHEN ARE THEY GONNA MAKE A NEW RAYMAN GAME" i was confused until i realised the last rayman game was 10 YEARS AGO! wth ubisoft!
and anyways this video is good, you get a sub
Ubisoft is basically EA now.
I miss rayman
I hate Ubisoft with a pure passion now
Have you seen their latest statements about focusing less on AAA single-player games and more on free-to-play games? It's such a bummer...
@@terapop Seriously? 😨 Can’t imagine all the micro transactions in those too! 🤮
If not a new game at least a dlc would be well deserved
Honestly for me shantae and the seven sirens and Rayman Legends are probably the best platformers
I haven't played Shantae yet. I'll have to check it out sometime!
Rayman 2 will always be the best.
Rayman where the Nymphs are playable and watch it sell, the Switch version can use the Mario Rabbids as exclusive characters.
Please at this point I just want Rayman to make a playable appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!!
Personally I'd be content if he was a costume at this point. Just give us SOMETHING related to our favorite limb-less thingamajig.
I just realized mr beast used a song from rayman 2 in his New video
I like the Rayman franchise
Agreed.
Sad Rayman legends was my first game I ever played and the best game ever and one of the few games I play eny more why can't people stop thinking it's all about money that's why I'm guessing in the next coming years games will down fall and people won't want to play them enymore I hope thay do what you said sell the title to Nintendo thay would if thay sold it right now we would get a new game in a year and a half to 2 years I would be there priority to make one so the game doesn't seem like some 2 year game I've been doing the latest challenges and the mast I've seen is 13000 and the lest is 4000 I thay don't make a new game soon or sell it Rayman legends will be history no it will be legendary
you guys can blame the rabbids for rays disappearance
It's like michel ancel got amnesia and recovered but still can't remember one thing.
Rayman will come back, well that is what i think cause i mean if Bubsy can come back then rayman can come back.
I think rayman 2 was better than rayman. 3 don't hold the same mythical wonder to me. But was still fun and the gameplay was good
My feelings exactly!
Someday i will remake rayman game and make more rayman
There is Rayman adventures and Rayman mini to hold us over. They’re all really good great games. I just don’t believe that mobile games aren’t real games. That’s just not a good outlook.
Yeah, I actually don't mind the mobile games, hg md. They're fine. I just feel what Rayman most needs is a proper new console entry.
@@terapop same. But Ubisoft will be Ubisoft. I hope he appears in sparks of hope though.
21:41 Rayman is in Brawlhalla and that is like ubisoft game like smash so I think thats why its not in smash
I would still love to see Rayman enjoy the exposure that comes with a spot on the Smash roster, but it seems pretty unlikely at this point...
That is true, however they are many characters in Smash that were in other fighting games. I don't think that's a valid argument.
The Versions of Rayman 2 from Best to Worst:
• Dreamcast
• Nintendo 64
• PC
• PlayStation 2
• iOS
• PlayStation
• Game Boy Color
• Nintendo DS
• Nintendo 3DS
I grew up playing the N64 version myself. Would love to see a modern-day remake so that this important 3D platformer is more accessible and better preserved for posterity 🙏
@@terapop luckily there's gonna be Rayman 2 HD, just ask @New Dawn Games on Twitter.
Why is the PC version rated lower than the N64 one? They are basically identical except the PC version has a higher resolution and is less blurry. (You can also download a mod to play this game on widescreen)
2 years later ;(
We finally got a new game or a dlc
Rayman's definitely in a better place now than he was a couple years ago!
is Half-Life 3 or Rayman 4 is the most needed and waited sequel for a videogame franchise? You decide.
I'm a bigger Rayman fan personally, but Half-Life is definitely another long-neglected franchise!
if they were to sell rayman, i kinda want them to sell rayman to sega, because i feel sega would probally be better with rayman then they are with sonic
Interesting. Sega's rough track record with new Sonic games in recent years makes me skeptical they could do Rayman justice.
@@terapop
I like Sonic Spyro and Rayman.
