Let's Play Rayman Legends: Platinum Grind - #1
Переглядів 1623 місяці тому
Rayman Legends is my favorite 2D platformer of all time, but I've never 100%-ed it. So I decided to hop back into one of my existing game files and collect as many lums and teensies as possible. Who knows when/if Ubisoft will allow a new game to take shape, so we might as well enjoy the old ones-right?! Will its popularity and sales numbers inspire the Sony executives to push for more platformers and more diversity in their PS5 output? And can Asobi carry on the legacy of the late great Japan Studio? Let's discuss! ▼▼▼ terapop creates original gam...

Shadow of the Erdtree is even bigger, crazier, and more discussion-worthy than any of us could have expected. So after logging 200 combined hours in Elden Ring's new expansion, @trilorim and I analyze nearly every aspect of the Shadow Realm-Marika's new lore; level and boss design; challenge vs. fun factor; if Messmer lives up to the hype; our love of Metyr, Dancing Lion, and Shadow Avatar; and...

Sekiro: Analyzing Ashina's World Design (with @Katiecakes)

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is best known for its incredible combat system-and for good reason. But its gameplay wouldn't be as entrancing if it existed on a blank canvas. Sekiro shines because of its thoughtful world design-its evocative color palette; historical/Sengoku influence; Yuka Kitamura's authentic soundtrack; and wider level design, encouraging exploration and combat creativity. It's crazy to think Dark Souls 2 turns 10 years old this month-March 2024. Love it or hate it, DS2 is a unique game that's still very worth discussing, so I've invited my friend Trilorim back onto the channel to do just that. Looking at the latest DOOM: Dark Ages trailer, I think id Software will more likely turn Doom into a Quake-ish fantasy game than go back to Quake itself
Make Quake Quake again - Quake 1 style not 2/4/arena.
Doom 64 introduced The Unmakyer... and that was intresting...
This is so motivational. I love you
Nothing comes close to Quake.
The best part is sound. Everything is gritty. The drones in oblivion uses the same gritty effect. The ambient sounds , wind whispering etc.. add a lot. But the thing is , the regular shotgun from original doom can not be anymore perfect. That sequence of the door opening sound , imp doing its alarmed sound , then you hit fire and click-clack . Has gotta be the most badass and manly thing ever. Quke shotgun.... meh... not a good sound. Not a good feel. Just like the double barrel. It does not sound good.
I want Banjo Kazooie 3 so badly but I don’t want Rare developing it.
Yeah, Rare is beyond washed up and irrelevant at this point. The Rare we loved years ago doesn't exist anymore.
What about Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament? There's the greatest first person shooter of all-time, Unreal Tournament 2004.
I ain't debating the greatest. This video is about my personal favorite FPS game.
I’m trying to Platinum the PS3 version for the first time and I’m currently on the grind for the Pure Bladestone. I’m so glad I found this video, I’m only about 4 hours of grinding in but this gives me the strength to keep going 😈 Also kind of a crazy coincidence this was uploaded the same exact time I’m farming 😨
I know your pain! 😅Have you tried farming the red phantom skeleton before the Old Hero boss room in PBWT? I found his drop rate was noticably higher than the illusory wall skele. Good luck!!
1:16 😂
A song never exemplified the grind more than this one
Just downloaded on my Rog Ally, played this game to death as a kid. Nice to see someone else admired it as much as me.
Just feels like yesterday
LOL
Simply amazing.
It's my third least favorite Doom game and it's still a 8/10 game
The speed and being knocked around while aiming and doing the same thing to them as you both die. Always going down with some damage dealt to other guy. Coming in when you see two others engaged and killing both of them. Jumping past people full speed and flipping to look back while still moving to fire a rocket. The movement meant you were not terrified of corners and the arenas let you get map control and enemy position knowledge. It was amazing playing deathmatch at large LAN parties. Being at a LAN and having people talk about, “that guy.” QuakeWorld was the best. Team Fortress was another level of crazy at organized LANs.
Have you got the First Person Shooter game Ion Fury?
I do! It's a great game.
Happy New Year
You too!
Cool video👍
Bro is NOT an old hunter 💀🙏
Charge Blade ascending to new universes
Whats the music
Godrick's theme!
Always love the absolutely busted jank weapons
The black knife assassin 😂
Your way of viewing this game is beautiful and very different from me. I would be really interested in a build video from you. Great video 👍
Appreciate the kind words, Isaac! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video.
First of all I love how some bosses in your top 10 are actually in my top 10 as worst bosses, this means fromsoft has really made such an extremly beautiful game since there is no an absolute top among the players, your best boss could be the worst for another player Another thing, even though I see it strange, but I respect your ranking I really enjoyed watching the video and I love to watch more content like this ❤
I couldn't agree more, Cinescter! Appreciate the kind words and very glad you enjoyed the vid!

Always good to see Terapop popping up in my algorithm 😊
Excellent lists Tera
Ah… whirligig saw.. you were at my side all along
....Quake III is my entry to the series and stuck with quake 1 since. And I will say that Quake 1.5 is the pinnacle of quake's gameplay.
Damn I knew that Fromsoftware clearly wasn't "just" Kitamura anymore but I wasn't aware how many masterpieces were done by Shoi Miyazawa
I know! It's wild. Kitamura sadly stepped away from the company recently (on good terms), so I'm really excited they have Miyazawa on board.
I’m not sure why you would prefer Placidusax over Bayle. The way I see it, Bayle has much better story build up, a cooler and more unique visual design, and is an even greater visual/auditory spectacle than Placidusax.
Honestly for me it is a draw, with Placidussax you really feel like you are facing off an old withered Legend, and immediately your imagination gets going what this guys story... The fact that in his boss room you can rid the frenzied flame etc, and even during the fight I would say I just had as many memorable moments, Him flying in the air for the first time, him teleporting, his nuke, his lasers. For me the main difference between both is the atmosphere they convey and I guess that is personal preference.
The whole premise of this video is "we all have different preferences" lol. And yeahhh, Bayle's cool but don't care much for the fight by comparison. Especially phase one. Just feels like a big charging slug to me 🤷
More unique visual design how? Greater visual/auditory spectacle how? I love Bayle, he’s probably a top 5 boss in the game and does have great visual design himself, but on first playthrough, Placidusax is genuinely breathtaking. The arena, yellow fire and laser attacks, teleporting lightning claw attack, nuke, etc are all visually stunning. I understand having preference, but Bayle isn’t objectively better from a visual design standpoint.
Great video! It's cool to see someone with such a different taste to mine explain their preferences. I disagree with a lot because I value different things (mostly on bosses and weapons), but I obviously respect your picks. It's a testament to how good these games are that people often disagree on rankings. I think the only boss we share in the top 10 is Morgott, he's so good and underrated. And I'm super happy to see some love go to Loretta, she's by far my favorite of the 3 tree sentinel types and nobody every talks about her. My top 5 bosses are Messmer, Malenia, Morgott, Maliketh, and Mohg. But if I had to value spectacle and gameplay equally, I think I'd say Midra. He's very fun to fight, but I also just love his visual design so much, and the ost referencing the frenzied merchants song is very cool. His cutscene is one of my favorites, too. (I just noticed that all my favorite bosses I mentioned start with "M" lmao)
I appreciate the thoughtful comment, Saixga! Yeah, I love that about these games. We all play the same content but have entirely different experiences with it. In most other games or franchises, there's rarely room for these kinds of discussions! That's a great callout about the overlap with the merchant song and Midra's theme. I'm gonna have to go back and listen to both now! 🔥
@@Saixga man, you like it sweaty with those bosses lol
@@peterfischer2733 Hahah, I guess that's true. My favorite part of fighting bosses is learning them. I treat them like a puzzle, trying to find all the different ways to "solve" every move and interaction they have. The hardest and more complex bosses have the most amount of things to learn. It just feels so good whenever I learn something new about a boss that I thought I had already mastered
@@terapop If you hadn't noticed Midra's OST callback, it's played only once at 3:43. The high pitched violin(?) plays a dissonant version of the Frenzied Merchant's songs. There's a very cool lore detail hidden in cut content (so, not technically cannon, but it makes a lot of sense). In a base-game cut quest, Kalé would explain that St Trina herself taught the Merchants that song as a way to resist the Frenzied Flame. Now, the Frenzied Flame has been awoken with Midra, and so a "corrupted" distorted version of that melody plays in the OST, almost like a last effort to "endure" (to use a word very relevant to Midra and Nanaya). And after that melody plays, the OST becomes a lot more aggressive and intense, with the last traces of St Trina's gift having faded. Credit to Sekiro Dubi for the cut content
The music I don't have as well ingrained, but the ambient music stands out. #1 is Leyndell for me, #2 is the main theme, and probably #3 is Belurat. Locations are anything with verticality and lots of secrets: SotE's open world design as a whole. Loved this over the main game's open fields as a whole. Felt like Dark Souls 1 on a grand scale and with it being more condensed it feels more replayable. I guess that's my #1 lol. #2 is the Shaded Castle for similar reasons. It's just massive and ends up connecting all of the Land of Shadow so well. It just left me wanting even more. Stormveil, Volcano Manor, and Crumbling Farum Azula probably kept me coming back the most trying to find all the secrets. They're all so different but all exemplify that verticality so well. I'd say the same for Raya Lucaria, but it's smaller by comparison. Overall RL's design with roof hopping and everything was their tightest designs which was awesome, but I wanted more- like the size of Anor Lando- which is what held it back for me. Hard for me to number those. Weapons I enjoyed the most don't number that many as I didn't try as many based on how I play the game. I'll usually pick a weapon and stick with it for the duration of that play thru. #1 is Rellana's twin swords, #2 is Blasphemous Blade, and #3 is the Bloodhound Claws. One thing you didn't comment on, but i know you love are armor sets. A few favorites were the Bloodhound Knight, Carian Knight, and the Scaled Knight. One thing I felt ER suffered from in this dept is that the sets tended to clash more than previous games where you couldn't quite mix and match as well. Bosses I'd have to say my favorites are Godrick, Rykard, Radagon without Elden Beast 😂, Metyr, Promised Consort Radahn, and Dragonlord Placidusax.
Heh, I like the twist of the Shadow Realm overworld making your list! No doubt they improved over the base game map and incorporated a lot of their best level design principles in those big open spaces (which are a lot tighter and vertical, like you said). And I was actually tempted to do armor, but then I'd also have to do talismans, ashes, catalysts, etc., etc. 😅
@terapop you may as well just drop a 5 hour video man lol
Don't tempt me... 😈
Shaded Castle massive and connecting the lands of shadow?
@jarlwhiterun7478 yeah, it's a large legacy dungeon with multiple distinct areas that connects the main area of the DLC to like 4 or 5 other areas that has in many cases a remembrance boss.
Babe, Terapop's back!
Tera Claus delivers!
Notification crew!!
33:07 As a black man, I have a dog in this race, so I believe it is my duty to assist. Take a page out of Civvie 11's book. (Who may have copied Quake Champions. I don't know who said it first) Pronounce it... without the 'ig' 👀. As in Nuh-gur-uth. Rather than N'👴🥷🏿-Wrath. When pronounced incorrectly like that, it's actually rather quite tasteful. Hope that helps. 🫡❤
By far my favorite game ever. Been playing ever since i could use a computer back in the late 90s early 2000s. Ever since the remaster came out, it's always been my go-to on my xbox. Even recently, I got the logo tattooed on my wrist just because i love it so much ❤❤
A great retrospective, very in-depth and clearly written by someone who has a lot of love for the game. I'm like you in that I actually like Quake's single player more than its MP, so I'm sure there are DOZENS (!) of us here 😂 As an aside, I think that after Machine Games's new official expansions for Quake and Quake 2, it's safe to say both games are "officially" (even if it is only in retrospective) connected instead of being totally separate. It only took decades 😂
Glad you enjoyed the video! Long live Quake single player!!! 😤
Sonic and Doom made the ENTIRE 90's for me and I wouldn't change it for anything
It seems like the guns and ammo in Quake are the weakest aspect. The single shotgun sucks, the double shotgun is usable but still kinda sucks. The nailgun is ok. The perforator is awesome but chews through ammo. Grenade launcher is ok. Rocket launcher is awesome. Thunderbolt is awesome but lacks ammo. The ammo limits seem too low. Doom had 400 bullets but Quake only has 200 nails. Doom had 600 for the plasma rifle, but Quake only has 100 for the thunderbolt. It's caused by technical limitations. Doom has rooms filled with monsters because all of them are sprites, ,so you need lots of ammo to cut them all down. Quake uses 3D models and it required a brand new Pentium just to play the game at lowest settings. A room might have 3 enemies instead of 15. Each enemy in Quake is tankier than in Doom, but less ammo is required to deal with all of them.
Yeah, definitely a fair observation. I prefer Quake's combat dance with the added jumping and platforming vs. Doom's rooms packed full of mobs to mow down. But Doom single player is probably harder for that reason too.
