Has anyone seen the Syn live reunion dvd from early 2006? Recorded in Cambridge, MA (USA) at The Somerville Theater, January 19, 2006. I was there, my friends & I were in the front row, directly in front of Chris Squire. Alan White even subbed on drums, an unexpected surprise! The band put on a very good concert, featuring their new "Syndestructable" cd of newer material, and their original psychedelic-era (1967) UK singles. Chris even told the story about meeting, and The Syn opening for, The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1967, with all of the major British rock stars of the era sitting in the front row. First time I'd ever heard the complete story, and from the man himself. Chris was very animated in recalling the occasion, and he enjoyed seeing our reactions to his telling of the Tale (pun intended). After the show, the band were at the merch table...they were gracious, patiently talking to and signing stuff for everyone. One of my most prized possessions is a signed copy (by both Chris & Alan) of the picture sleeve for their 1981 Christmas 45, "Run With The Fox". I'd bought it on special order back then. The reverse sleeve has the lyrics (by Pete Sinfield). When I mentioned to Chris about its rarity, he replied "You'd be surprised how often I see these.." (shows it to Alan, standing next to him, who exclaims): "WE certainly are!", eliciting a laugh fom Chris and everyone within earshot. But I detected a sense of pride as well. Signed in my presence, after a great show by The Syn. What a night to remember... Thanks for letting me express myself about this. Chris & Alan meant the world to me, always will, and I still can't wrap my head around the fact that they're no longer with us. Rest In Power, guys.
