      like keith said, there will always be small shavings on the magnet from wear and tear. shouldn't be much more than what you saw but chunks are when it's time to take a real close look. that silver looking oil in the diff is from the aluminum housing and prob had some sort of break in additive in it.

      Running e85 having a little oil mixed is going to happen and it’s fine and normal. One of if not the top tuner here in Utah says is common when running e85

    so.....at 22 or 23 psi boost you will have higher cyl pressures. you will force a small amount of fuel past the rings and your oil will have a hint of e85 if you are indeed running 85% ethy. one thing i would look at is your crank case vent system. at those cyl pressures especially on a 900 cc 3 cyl, you really need to vent that crank case into a catch can than back to the intake before the turbo or put a filter on the catch can and port it back in pre turbo. just be sure than the catch can is lower than the port on the block so none of that can run back into the engine. that oily goo left behind will smell like pure e85 btw! i run 30 psi but on a 2300 cc engine. i run e81 to e86 pretty consistantly and my breather box ( catch can) has a pod filter and is ported back pre turbo right behind the air cleaner so there is no haze of smoke out of that box. i have a drain valve on mine to drain it and what comes out sometimes looks like clear water ( it will light on fire with a match btw) and some time it's got a whiteish color but always smell like e85.

    • @ftorvideo
      @ftorvideo  5 років тому

      Dang! Thank you for this post! It helps us understand what's happening! We are working on catch cans because we did identify that as one of the issues... We run Ignite E85 so our fuel is very much E85. We'll be going up to 28lbs of boost this year!

    Physical chunks of metal in fluids= worry.
    It should only be tiny metal flakes but not enough for you to pick out like that. If it is just that one it shouldn't hurt but is a sign to check it again later and if you got more chunks crack it open

    You're fine on the gear oil buds. Mine looked exactly the same on my first change. Pretty typical I think. That has all the break in miles and meshing that went on early in the engine life. Suspect the next time you change it there will be much fewer shavings.
