Little Footnote: The amount of care that guy was taking to line up the holes with the aluminum dowels speaks volumes to the amount of care and craftsmanship that goes into your work. It's the little details like that, that make the biggest difference. This is superbly well done.

absolutely a beautiful table, I am sure the people who asked you to make this is mighty proud. About 25 years ago when myself and my husband moved into our home he came home one day with a better 6 ft piece of wood. I said honey what is that for you going to chop it up for firewood, no he said I'm going to make us a mantle for the fireplace. I said okay whatever, as he worked on it for a few days I realized it was oak wood he had picked it up for $20. Needless to say I have an absolutely beautiful mantle. Isn't it a Wonder what people can do with wood!!

Beautiful table… would’ve liked to see a little more detail on the actual build, but appreciated seeing the difficulty of the moving/installation process… not easy with something that massive and heavy! How much did it weigh and did the clients have extra supports in their flooring to handle something so massive?!?

Actually, cottonwood is one of the only woods that most animals will not chew on. It is often used in cattle barns and pig barns for animal enclosure aka pens and for feed bunks as well. It is also a direct substitute for poplar in many cabinet companies for cleats and chamfer blocks etc.

    • @TheNightshadePrince
      @TheNightshadePrince Рік тому

Cotton wood is a type of poplar wood, it’s just not tulip poplar which is arguably a prettier tree and what hardware stores sell instead of cottonwood. :)

Watching you fellas struggle getting the base and top in reminded me of my first full time job at fifteen years old working for a moving company!!
Good money at the time when minimum wage was $2.75 an hour where I was making $10 an hour.
I did a LOT of heavy lifting and going up and down extremely tight corners was a complete turd on a hot crossed bun!! I hated that job, but I wanted to buy a 1972 Cougar XR7 off my brother in law more than I hated the job!!
I stuck it out long enough to buy the car, then quit! The only job I hated more was at an aluminum foundry!! The very first night on the job the foreman told me I would have to sit on the Lazy-Boy chair and sleep for an hour sometimes two or three times a day until my body became accustomed to the extreme heat from standing close while I melted huge aluminum blocks into liquid o a huge spoon with a long handle!!
I laughed at him, and he turned out to be a super nice dude too, but I laughed and told him there was no way I was EVER gonna sleep on ANY job! That's when he laughed at me!!
He was right, that furnace had white hot flames and they looked damned pissed off!!
That kind of heat does dehydrate you and makes you sleepy real fast!! But, being the "tough guy" I absolutely refused to sleep and I had to fight off the urge to get in that chair and go tweety bird night nights!!
He was surprised because out of a long string of people I was the first who didn't take a wee nap!
He also told me they went through a bunch of new guys who not only slept for hours in that chair but none of them ever came back!! LOL!
I related, because I hated that first night so much I didn't go back either, not even for the one day pay!!
You guys are doing some wicked work there!!
    Golf Clap!!

Amazing....looks like not a piece of furniture but more of a piece of art. Beautiful.

I saw light through the resin at one point. Adding LED pinlights under the resin sections of the table could add extra "pop".

Really loving that the team leader describes the intention to everyone before the lifting starts

Please share how many pounds that the finished table top (cotton wood slab with the resin pour) is and how thick the table is, with the length and the width of the table top. it looks huge and heavy. My guess is the finished table top weighs 800 pounds and it is 4 inches thick, 5 foot wide and 10 foot long. The table and legs look super strong when put together. The design is one of a kind, unique, elegant and beautiful. Very nice work, thank you for sharing another good one
    with us.

Have you guys looked into a dolly like the granite guys use? Had a top installed Wednesday and they had a 4 wheel pneumatic tired beast of a dolly that they rolled the top in on. Wouldn't have helped much on this job, but most it probably would.

We’re going to pick up some of those forearm lifting straps! Dollie’s would be a big help too

@@BlackForestWoodCo Don't get the forearm one get the Shoulder Dolly. I have one, puts the weight on your legs not your arms, like your legs are tired after using it 😂.

"One of a kind.." Meanwhile I just watched John Malecki receive and use what I'm thinking is a slice off that same tree.. lol (this is cool though - and even if it's from the same tree, each slab is definitely still one of a kind)

Yes exactly, even if it's from the same tree, each slab is still unique and one of a kind!

Needs a light on the underside to light up the blue. at least from my eyes it looks black but when you guys had the table upright the light from the window made the blue light up
