There was a huge piece of maple burl washed up at a marina near me and I wish I had a way to get it and process it so bad, it could be gone by now but it was such a nice piece just waaay too big to move by hand, prolly a few thousand pounds at least. Was telling the people I was with how it's easily a $10k+ piece of wood once it's all processed and they had no idea they thought it was just a regular hunk of wood

Hey Guys, Thank you so much for this . What an amazing place. It's a cabinetmakers wet dream. You have just made an old cabinetmaker very happy. It is always good to see all this rare and old timber being used and not dumped or chipped for particleboard. BFWC is an industry leader in making one off amazing furniture from some really great timbers and some more tours of the timber yard's would be great. Waitting for all this timber to season plus shipping and delivery, then deciding what to make with it. You really need a lot of patience !!! Thank you for the tour, if you need someone to carry the luggage next time, I could be available! heh heh. Cheers Michael.

13:09- I'd like to take a 2 inch plank off the top of each of that node's layers, cut ... three inches off of the back and mount them as shelves. Maybe against a wall, maybe on a larger upright slab of live edge. With a slab backing that set, you might as well put the other slabs from that node on the back. Double sided shelves.
The three inch deep cut-offs might make good handles or small shelves.

What a treasure trove. I'm gonna redo my master bath one of the years and the dual sink counter top will be a nice slab. I want to find a slab that has a natural sharp 135deg bend for the shape of the room and I've noticed that Monterey Cypress has that going for it which is a local tree here on the Cali central coast. I bet I can get the perfect piece locally but I've seen cypress slabs stacked and dried and unfortunately seems to crack up too much. I wonder if it needs a specific drying procedure to keep that species of wood from spitting.
