Oh that bubble gum music! The Innocence back in the day! Sure brings back a lot of memories! Hey y'all the best reactors..Love how y'all analyze all these wonderful songs!
I haven't thought about -- much less heard -- this song for ages. Thanks. It's definitely a feel-good song -- my friends and I all sang along when it came on the radio LOUD riding in the car. Before the gas shortage (in the 1970s) we felt we could just drive around with no destination -- maybe out of the city into the rural areas & woodland roads -- always with the radio on and singing along. We were young and had the best rock, pop and soul music of all time as the soundtrack of our lives. It was pure joy. Mel, I love your highlights! Shawn -- I've never seen that cap before (anywhere in town), with the Happy Bird in front and a round patch on the side. Cool.
During 1970, four singles by four different acts for whom Tony Burrows served as lead vocalist all charted at or near the top of the UK Singles Chart and additionally reached the top 20 in the United States. "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" by Edison Lighthouse, "United We Stand" by Brotherhood of Man, "My Baby Loves Lovin'" by White Plains, "Gimme Dat Ding" by The Pipkins and "Beach Baby" by The First Class.
Aw such an old one. I heard it about a month ago. This is why I won't give up my serius radio. I get to hear songs from my teenage years that I had forgotten about. Those great old memories.
I believe u did react to this tho it's much worth reacting twice. Great fun likeable song. Great singer Tony Burrows from UK. Was the lead singer In 5 hit songs around the same time. United we Stand, Beach Baby, Gimme day Ding and My Baby Loves Lovin'.
A nice slice of feel good bubblegum from early 1970. A few others that we heard on the AM radio around that same time were - Ray Stevens "Everything is Beautiful", The Five Stairsteps "Ooh Child", White Plains "My Baby Loves Lovin'", Marmalades "Reflections of My Life", and Freda Payne's "Band of Gold."
Reminds me of my college days. One of my fraternity brothers was dating a Rosemary. She was the chapter sweetheart. They moved in together and later married. Fond memories of those days. I graduated in 1969.
This song was featured in the Jack Black Movie "Shallow Hal." (2001) He plays a very shallow character who judges everyone by their looks. He then is hypnotized into seeing the inner beauty of a person instead of how a person looks outside. The female is named Rosemary in the film and is played wonderfully by Gwenyth Paltrow.
Tony had 5 one hit wonders with 5 different bands! Love Grows, United We Stand and My Baby Loves Love where on the charts at the same time. Amazing. They are all good, but Beach Baby brings it!
A total promo video performed by none of the recording artists. The Band is Greenfield Hammer who recorded further single and LP under Edison Lighthouse name and were engaged by the producer to be the touring group. YT Vid wise there are three different TOTP appearances (if I count right) with Tony Burrows on live vocals and the TOTP orchestra thus giving slightly different backing music each time.
This song was their biggest hit in 1970. Tony Burrows the lead singer released other songs under different names. "Gimme Dat Ding" (the Pipkins), "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (White Plains), & "United We Stand" (Brotherhood of Man) & "Beach Baby" (the First Class).
Will you please react to a fun country song from 1974 called, Marie Laveau. It is sang by Bobby Bare. It was number one on the charts. He had a lot of good songs but his best one is Marie Laveau. He is such a good Storyteller songwriter.
The lead singer here is Tony Burrows. He also sang lead on the White Plains hit , My Baby Loves Lovin. He sang on United We Stand with The Brotherhood of Man. Another hit he sang on is Gimme Dat Ding by the Pipkins. Last but not least, Tony sang lead on Beach Baby by the First Class. He sang five hits with five different groups, all one hit wonders. Wow.
You did reat to this. These guys are not the original Edison Lighthouse group. The original band are from England. You reacted to them about a year ago. These guys took over in the US
Loved the music in 1960’s, ‘70s and ‘80s…
I really love this song, brings back nice memories of my youth. 🎶🎶❤️
This was my first favorite song ever at the tender age of 8!
Lovely song.
This song was on AM radio all the time back in the seventies.

This was their only hit. One hit wonder. Great song.
The follow up single (Recorded by the touring band , Greenfield Hammer) was not too shabby and deserved better sales, but the charts were crowded then

There is a YT video of Gimme Dat Ding on the Rate-a-Record segment on American Bandstand from 1970. Fun watching the kids dance to it.
I didn't know him or that,.loved at least 3 of those songs. thanks
Beach Baby came later in 1974... with its memorable line about "We took the car and drove to San Jose" which 35 miles from the beach.
I never realized how the lead singers from Edison Lighthouse and White Plains sounded alike until just now. I guess we now know why that is.
Aw such an old one. I heard it about a month ago. This is why I won't give up my serius radio. I get to hear songs from my teenage years that I had forgotten about. Those great old memories.
This song came out during my high school years. My name is Rose Marie so all my friends always changed the name to mine!!

A personal favorite from back in the day!
Such fun being a high school Freshman when this music was popular. Only got better and better thru the 70s and 80s.
And then... the music died.

E was simple back then. The guys back then didn't mind telling the girls how they felt, and usually the girls felt the same way!😅😍😊
It's almost been too long since I've heard this song. So great to hear again. Great choice!
